Well if you're looking to not like what you drink and I'm sure there's a long list of ingredients you're perhaps adverse to. Spicy alcohol infused with Chili's, olives, cobra whisky. I came for the drinks stayed for the drunken rambling
Usually its from the sugar alcohols like Sorbitol, that they use, which is different from splenda (Sucralose?), sugar alcohols are not absorbed by your body and sorta act like fiber, Sorbitol is also used in child laxatives and fiber suppliments
But! If you're getting over the effects of heavy anaesthesia and opiates after an operation, some sugar free gummy bears do a better job than the awful drain cleaner they give you at hospital. So they do have a use.
Sugar alcohols (sorbitol, xylitol, manitol...) are sugars, just as glucose, except we don't have any use for them, or better saying we did not evolve to absorb them, so we don't. However, as any sugar, it has a lot of alcohol/hydroxyl groups (-OH) in their structure which LOVES WATER. So much that they compete with the gut cells for water, making us absorb less of it, and letting more out, making your intestines feel like hell.
Michael, you ran over me with your car. You posted a picture of my bare boobs on the bulletin board with a caption that said “Gross.” Michael, you are the reason I drink. You are the reason I live to forget.
I won't lie, man. I come here for the pours and spills. The zoom-ins, the slow downs. It's like booze porn or something. Feels like I need to alt-tab whenever someone enters the room.
Being a giant absinthe fan, hearing that this drink is dominant in that flavor scares me into needing to try this. It will destroy me but I have to know now.
I felt the same way until I bought myself a nicer, heavier bar spoon. The change in weight really made the difference. I will admit, he still cracks them much cleaner than I can achieve. I still have chunks of ice that fly off the cube before it finally cracks completely.
The trick to cracking ice this way is for them to be straight from the freezer. If you let the ice stay out for a few minutes it will start to temper and then harden. You know when you grab some ice from the freezer and directly to a glass of soda and you just hear the ice cracking straight away as it hits the soda? That’s because it hasn’t tempered. In this case, when you want the ice to crack, taking them straight from the freezer is what you want! 👍
I figured this drink would at least be ok. It follows the basic idea behind an old fashioned: alcohol, something sweet, and something bitter. These elements are found together in most drinks and is what makes them smooth and not overly alcoholic.
Bon Spacey if that happens, he should give “the pound of flesh” a try. It’s 30 mL of DayQuil and 120 mL Pepto Bismol mixed well with orange juice to your desired viscosity and drunk as needed from a hip flask. I’m not going to lie, the taste is not great and the color (the source of the name) is disturbing, but it makes damn near any hangover bearable.

We call it earthquake in these parts - as if such a one struck a bar and mixed everything together. So depends what's on bar, but in my case it wasn't nearly as nice as you describe... Had a beer afterwards to wash it down. don't recall much since.

Dude i literally died when you moved to the side and all the tasting notes moved with you 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that was hilarious
What is this “milk punch” you speak of????
Just heard your musical muttering and for half a second I thought of Curly Howard mixing a drink. Love the show!
I would 100% watch a series on tea and tea culture from you! That sounds like it would be super interesting, and after the repeal day episode, I absolutely trust you to handle the messy colonization parts of things.
the subtle panning of the tasting notes when you leaned into them got me good
First, please start that series on tea immediately. Second, I can't believe you drank that; it sounds awful. Third, that tasting notes slide was genius. And fourth, I shall indeed fight you over your Jim comment... right after your fruit bowl is done fighting you, apparently. ^_^
1:38 Love Detectorists!!! Great show, never thought anyone else in the US knew about it
