9:37 I would be using rubber grommets on any sheet metal hole that high voltage wires run through if the device vibrates. Rubber grommets cost pennies. Even better non metallic push in fittings available from your electrical supplier. Happy new year JMT.

Hole needs a grommet, especially when there's all that vibration. You could also make the hole in the metal bigger than the one in the thermostat box, and that effectively makes the plastic box's hole a grommet, since the wires will then no longer contact metal.
