    I've heard of Tessa tape, and I purchased some after hearing about it on an automotive repair channel. However, I didn't realize there are different classifications of electrical tapes depending on the use. Now I know!

    Another fine job. I wasn't familiar with harness tape, good to know.
    You touched on being able to repair/replace harness plugs. Where do you get the parts/replacements for these style plugs? I tried to get a plug for replacement at Bobcat, they said they weren't available. Thanks

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks and excellent question. Bobcat has a tool catalog where 99% of all connectors and terminal pins used on bobcats can be purchased individually. Most all connectors are available online, the hard part is identifying the connector you need to replace. The person you asked may not have been familiar with the tool catalog. Next time tell them to download the Special Tools Catalog for you LOL.

    Good work on this, thanks for the information, will be ordering the electrical tape. Working on a 2005 Bob Cat 863, that was fire damage, trouble shooting the harness, trying to find broken wires. Will be buying it, and repairing it, can't find any use harness.

    Great video, but I've been told most major OEMs will no longer cover soldered connections under warranty. Vibration can cause the solder to break. I use nothing but heat shrink and butt connectors. Been a HD tech for 15 years and I don't even own a soldering iron. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to borrow one. To each his own I'm sure that will last a long time all the same.

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for sharing, terminating ends should never be soldered in these applications due to the possibility of failure from vibration. However I really prefer the solder and heat shrink for mid harness repairs like this one for many reasons especially for communication wires like Can Bus. Most of these harnesses are from old machines that have been out of warranty for many years.

    This may be a longshot but... on my T595, the F8 fuse keeps blowing. I'm pretty sure it's a rub/broken wire since it doesn't blow immediately AND the radio will work, then partially power down and then reacquire the station before it finally blows the fuse.
    I have unhooked the radio, backup camera and power port but it still blows.
    How to I access the harness from fuse box ?

    Hello,
    I have a 2017 Bobcat T650 I am working on and have yet to find the culprit for an M4404 code, its for the auxillary hydraulic controller . It was intermittent and now the activation light on the panel will not activate, nor light up, so any attachment will not have hydraulic pressure. This also was accompanied at different times with a code for the main controller. I have searched and searched. No evident rub spot found. All connections checked and cleaned, still nothing. I am at a loss.
    I found a tone generator fox and hound electrical circuit tool video I think I will order, but as you stated I am at the learn by doing school, not a pro equipment electrician mechanic.
    Any helpful hints???
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    • @tetradgroup

      Check the date code on Aux controller tag, four digit number at the bottom of the tag. Anything before 1948 is a known bad controller and will need to be replaced and programmed.

    Thanks for the video, i need to figure out why the display panel on the 7753 stopped working, it didn't work for the first 2 years i owned the machine, then it worked for about a year, now it stopped again, i'm about to pull the cab off and restore it, will be a good time to go over the wiring, another question, is anyone making decals for older bobcats? thanks

    Another excellent video, I have just discovered this kinda taped recently and like you said its the only way to repair harnesses. What are your thoughts on soldering versus butt splices? In the past I would always solder, I just recently started at the John Deere construction dealer and for what ever reason John Deere favors but splices over soldering two wires together. I guess they have found a solder joint can break in high vibration areas ? Don’t know that I have ever had one break, Ive seen more solder joints break where they terminate at a circuit board then wire to wire. Just curious your thoughts

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's funny, when I worked at CAT you would get written up for using butt splices. I think they work well if done correctly. Although I have no science to back it up I think solder is a better option, especially for communication wires such as can bus wires due to the possibility of added resistance of butt splices. 12 years with CAT and that was the standard we always stuck with. I would be curious if that's just a particular service manager that likes butt splices or if that's a John Deere standard?

    • @davidandkatherinewheeler3551
      @davidandkatherinewheeler3551 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah same here I also came for a cat dealer, you were a hack if you used but splices . But no they have talked about it in online training stuff , I don’t know 🤷‍♂️

    I currently own (4) Bobcats. and have had issues with all of them. I'm not sure why I haven't seen any of your videos until now. Thanks for posting.
    In one of your videos you addressed an issue on a 435 (turned out to be pump/motor coupler). Have you ever come across issues with the dash panel/controller on those? If so, what solution did you come up with? Are you aware of anyone who can source those, or maybe repair them?
    I have a failure on my '06 435 (won't allow drive motor circuit solenoid to activate when arm bar goes down) and I have determined that the issue is within said controller. I am aware that this is a common failure. Bobcat says that this part (the controller) is no longer available. At this point I am trying to build a connector that will piggyback the signal from the front group so that it will activate both solenoids but would rather have a properly working controller. Your help would be appreciated.

      @@tetradgroup Thanks for your help. I have reached out and set up a repair. According to their website, they specialize in repair of Bobcat electronics. That's great! Unfortunately the repair cost is almost that of a new part (780 vs 1100), and only has a 1 year warranty. Right now this is my only option for a panel though. I hope that the repair lasts for longer than that....I've had issues with repaired electrical components in the past.
      Thank you for referring me to them!!

      Check the fuse and relay sockets, they tend to get loose and won't make good connection. Start machine and wiggle all fuses and relays then start wiggle test thru the main frame harness and plugs at controllers.
