Can’t wait until you lot a review on the 20 gallon corner Thrive enclosure!! I have noticed with the Thrive Hexagon and corner terrariums both have really nice quality thick glass. I have noticed both seem to hold humidity more than the glass on other brand enclosures. I never bought the crescent vertical one because I didn’t like how wide it opened and is more challenging to decorate and place my jungle vines in. So agreed!
I have this tank for a bioactive crested gecko setup!!! Just passed the tanks first birthday a few days ago and it’s been going strong no cracks in the glass or issues with the door hinges!!
Please do a full build!! I’ve been keeping my eye on this one for quite a while when my baby grows up. I want to do bioactive and make the back ground on the back 3 sides and make some ledges/hides/plants. I am new to reptiles so this is completely new to me.
I have multiple glass terrariums, all different brands, only the glass ones. I have 18 X 18 X 24, and this hexagonal Thrive one as well. it does stand out more/doesn’t stack clean with my other terrariums because of the hexagonal shape but it is still great and looks cool! My ultimate favorite is the Thrive tropical corner one. It looks so so nice. Lots of vertical and horizontal space and looks like a monster as a display tank. I am so excited your reviewing it! You will love it!!! :).
When you have the hexagonal thrive enclosure and the corner thrive tank together you can notice how much more horizontal space you have for a crested gecko. Really cool
Is the corner or the hexagon bigger? Im looking for a tank for my chahoua when she gets bigger and the stand i have is 26x18 surface area i havent decided between pvc and glass though
I have had this tank since January of this year. I got a baby crested gecko who is growing into a big boy. I’ve been nothing but thrilled with this tank. There is ample room which makes decorating a lot of fun. The front opening door is a lifesaver to do cleanings and feedings. It is practical and looks stunning. Now for the cons: beware of the top rusting. I haven’t had to personally deal with this recently, but I’ve read reviews where this is a frequent occurrence. Also, if your crestie is an escape artist, tape down the hole with the cap at the top (the hole to hook up a misting system). Again, I’ve read several reviews where this was a problem. My crestie doesn’t hang in that area, so he hasn’t figured how to get out. Bottom line: I wholeheartedly recommend this tank-not for chameleons, however.
I have this tank and love it. I panicked when you posted the video of your mourning geckos escaping the crescent tank. They can’t get out of the hexagon, but they do like hiding in the groove behind the door on top.
I have a tokay gecko in one of these. One thing to be careful of is that there is a small gap in the glass where the door swings that gecko toes fit right through! When my gecko is at the front of the cage I can’t open it until she moves without crushing her toes. With a rectangular cage this isn’t an issue because the hinge is in a corner and it’s unlikely the gecko’s feet will ever be jammed into the corner. But with the hex cage is all open and that hinge is in the usable space. I have pics of her toes sticking out if you want to see what I mean.
I kept my plastic side cover in my corner tank for this reason where the side of glass hinges . I think your suppose to get rid it/helps protect the glass, but I just kept the one on where the door hinges open to close the gap. You really don’t notice it too much.
@@sammisamsammi not for the hex one, no, but I did one for my gargoyle gecko in a big exoterra. The hex crestie tank does need a bit of freshening up and I was going to do a video of that soon...
I just bought one of these for my Crested gecko. While the tank fits my needs I wanted to point out that the entire bottom is thin plastic. So I wouldn't put water in it, or move with heavy contents. I may cut out a thin wood bottom panel to go underneath.
This is the tank I bought for Clarence! Do you think it's large enough for him to spend his entire life in, or do you believe that cresties need at least a 30-gallon tank when they get to their full size?
I know this video was a while ago but I have a question can the door on that thing come off long story is that the door fell off of ours and shattered, PetSmart was kind enough to give us a brand new one but I had already put in the foam background and everything bioactive etc all I need is the door before I mess with it I thought I'd ask you if it
I reached out to PetSmart/Throve to get more details on what the black removable lid is made out of because I can’t tell if it is a black thick plastic or black metal. I am curious to know if the top is UVB lighting/heating safe. Will post if/when I hear from them :). I am curious to know myself!
I've got this one for my crested gecko. On mine the rim the lid clicks into is plastic, but the lid itself is metal with lots of ventilation holes. There's also a port to put your fogger tube into. That port and the cap are plastic. It's very sturdy. My 20lb cat has been up on there with no bending of the lid. (theres a plant on it now so he can't jump up there anymore).
Hey i was wondering do you have to change substrate in a crested gecko terrarium? i have seen this before but i dont know if its actually needed. if you could help that would be AWSOME
I just had to trash mine the top gets super rusty even with frequent cleanings due to the mister that was installed in the top. I'm very disappointed with the top issue, wish it was better because the bottom tank part is amazing, I may just make a screen for it so I don't have to trash it
Hi there! I was wondering after having this tank set up with mourning geckos for a few years if you have discovered any escapees, and if so how have you fixed the problem? Thank you so much for your time!
i heard- this one is good for tree frogs, as it gives them a bit more jumping flexibility than a rectangular enclosure would. might buy it for my dumpies once they grow a bit more
I purchased one of these for my crested gecko and he seems to be doing really well in it. The hexagon shape seems to create a surprising amount of space. My questions is would this be large enough for a phelsuma grandis? I think it would be if it was set up right. Also, phelsuma grandis needs more heat then a crested gecko. Being only 22 inches tall what kind of light fixture would you recommend to get a warm enough basking spot and still have a heat gradient?
what is the height from the floor to the bottom of the door? looking to make one of these bioactive but don’t know if i have enough room for all the media and layers.
Would you be willing to do a review on the habistat vivarium, they come flat packed and you put them together, but they have a completely sealed bottoms for like paludariums or bio tanks, I got one but would be interested to see your opinion on them
@@AltitudeExotics awesome as said would be great to see what you think, I think would be great for permanent and even temporary housing due to the collapsibilty, so storing them would be good
Whats the best substrate and how to clean substrate without worrying them escaping? Lol I've always wanted to get a couple of these but want to know whats the easiest way to keep it clean with minimal disturbing. I'm to worried of them escaping 😅
I was actually interested in getting the Terrarium and stumbled on this review. I have a question... Im kinda new to geckos and looking at picking up a juvenile. Is this tank too big for a juvenile crested gecko? Also considering a Exo Terra thats 12x12x18. Would that be better or would this hexagon work? Any advise would really be appropriated.
My crested gecko recently escaped out of the hole at the top. She pushed the cover up and off and was able to crawl out. Thankfully I found her nearby but it gave me a heart attack. I will now be placing a piece of duct tape over the cover to ensure it doesn’t happen again
Could you do a setup video for this tank for a crested gecko? :)
this would be great
Did he ever make one?

After using this tank, I can rule out his concern of light not going through the top, it looks just as well lit up as any of my other tanks I have.
What light did you use?
Great review 👍 I'm liking this cage a lot! Thank you for sharing.

I'm doing a bioactive set up with this tank, but it's too humid for the pothos. It's got root rot. This tank never dries out enough.
I wouldn't personally use it for an adult crested gecko or similar, but I actually do think it's a cool enclosure for smaller geckos

Yes if its not bioactive, not very often at all if its bioactive and you have spring tails and isopods.
If ever that is. Cause then you would lose the clean up crew if you changed the substrate
