I love the skeleton sitting on the bumper of the Franklin. I would not be surprised to see Jonathan come home one day with a small steam locomotive and some track.

That boiler was well worth the effort! It's so cool listening to the engines run with my eyes closed focusing on all the individual sounds. It's kinda relaxing!
The new shed with the big engines all lined up inside is going to be fantastic. I keep saying the day when every working engine is running at the same time off that big boiler is going to be a real treat to see. This episode was almost like that! We're getting closer! Thanks for your channel!

Still amazes me that you have steam engines made in my home town, and there is no evidence there was ever any heavy manufacturing ever being done on that site (most of you al have seen my video of the area). And it was done there for almost 100 years. Schofield and Taylor works were next to each other, eventually Schofield got absorbed by Taylor. Apparently families joined too... Good work man!

Wow !! Can only imagine the satisfaction you must experience when you have steam up and all of these mechanical wonders are humming and "hissing" along at once. I have experienced multiple times ghe satisfaction of getting a internal combustion engine running again after total rebuilds or major "fixit" challenges. That would amount to a "fraction" of what you have achieved here !!! Sooooo nice that your wife takes such a positive part in your passion !!! Would love to see you build a steam powered line & pulley machine shop with a motor back up or getting hold of a Frick circular sawmill run on steam powered with motor back up so you can us them without fire up. Got feeling your gonna end up with alot of visitors one day once you retire maybe

This is fantastic. I think it is really important. It would be nice to see these engines doing work. That would be another huge effort, but maybe someday you could have them all turning generators and start measuring how much electricity they can make. How about charging up a Tesla car, call it the world's first wood-fired automobile? Spectacular. Best wishes, Jonathan. You're someone special. Oh, and I'd like to see governors spinning on all of these old engines. Maybe you'll develop a big enough market for them that someone will start mass-producing them again. I wonder if the mechanisms could be 3D printed.

Thanks for the upload, Steam is amazing and stands the test of time. Appreciate all the hard work you do and whoever else helps to keep this alive :) We had a steam museum that closed down and its probably 30 years and the land is privately owned but the knowledge required to get it back up and running isn't cheap or isn't around anymore.
With all of the other gentlemen passing on buying that engine because of the missing parts, it's like that engine was meant for you. Nice to see it running again. 👍
I have a squirrel that we found in the yard when it was a baby. Best pet I’ve ever had. You wouldn’t think of a squirrel as affectionate but it comes and sits in my lap so he can get his head rubbed and under his chin like a cat. I’ve hunted squirrels but don’t think I could shoot one again.
Like you, I watched those same episodes with some sadness when Jonathan was saying "This engine will likely never see any steam". So HAPPY and entertained to see it turn out this way !!! ;o)

Regarding the squirrel - My experience, they make a nice pet until mature, at that point they’ll go back on their own choosing to the wild. Nice work on the collection. The Franklin will fit right in.
old Bud Kittelson learnt me up on the Loctite trick back when i was a tadpole, he used to repair cracked diesel cylinder heads with the stuff, it works pretty great, should work with your oiler, if not, you were going to R&R the thing anyway

Btw Nana is just like sometimes she's bored with machinery an other times it's more interesting when your doing something or about to do something. Wonderful stuff! Is there anyplace in the world with more large operable steam engines? Don't think so. We need a long video with a camera sitting on a tripod watching the Corliss running!!! Valve side. 3-4 hours would be good.
A local antique mall once had the complete set of patterns for casting a large bell. For some reason the seller decided to sell individual pieces rather than the whole set at once.
Nice to see Nana cat keeping an eye out for you, she is beautiful. Theres nothing like a few steam leaks and rattles to add to the drama of a running steam engine! As to the squirrel and insulation problem. maybe some canary mesh over the insulation may minimise damage.

Fine job Conservator. I patch holes in galv. roofing with aluminum duct tape - been on for 20 years. That boiler does good to run so many pieces.
