    Very good explanation of a restoration for a "players pin". Just bringing them back to life so we can all enjoy them is satisfaction enough. Thanks Joe

    Used to play the 4 player version of this game(called "Space Mission") at the old Zayre Dept. store when I was a kid in the mid 70's.

      I think they were both pretty popular back in the day, we get people asking us for them all the time!

    Back glass paint is often the toughest problem from my little experience. I like what you did with this. The big red letters dominate the glass so fixing that made a big difference. I never would have thought of the off white spray on the capsules to block the lamps-great idea.

      I absolutely hate painting backglasses, because no matter what you do it never looks 'right'.... but what are you going to do? The thing was destroyed so I'm glad I was able to get it just a little bit nicer. When I first started I was more 'cheap', but now that I've done it for several years if I were putting it in my own house I'd bite the bullet and buy a new one (or at least a nice one). They sell this one new but it'll be about 300 bucks shipped...

    @Joe, I wish you were my neighbor. I would hangout with you most week nights. Very cool stuff.

    I wonder if masking fluid would work on the little windows? Brush on and peel off when you're done. Love your videos, I find them very relaxing. Keep on saving these machines!

      Thank you Darth! I'm sure that would work but it would be a lot of work :)

    Looks pretty good considering the shape it was in.

    Fun machine the first that I ever played at the Frost Top and the match feature was so cool when you're out of quarters gave you a chance for free credit.

    They weren't available back then, but classic arcades is making replacement translites on acrylic for $149 for a lot of these titles now. Half the price of a CPR backglass.

    You're going to be able to put this one machine on your resume, Ron, by how long it's taking you to fix it. LOL!

    I think you did an ok job on it and I realize you've spent a lot of time on it ,but I would probably try to hand paint those other flaking parts but the red looks pretty darn good.Also the swinging target motor sounds really loud.Good video.

      We've repainted each part on some other glasses here on our channel, this one was just so complex we decided to let it slide. The motor isn't loud with the glass on, i'm not sure if a new one would be quieter or not, it might have some gears making noise or something...

    Hm, actually I think you can print same picture on a glass with modern industrial printers, if you have a picture from some source. I've been working with such in a past, but don't know how good it may look

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can do that but you have to do two printings, because the back side has certain parts that are double thick to block out the light from the bulbs behind it. It's how they make words and numbers light up that are hidden on the backglass....

    Hmm, would transparent paint work on backglasses like that? like tail-light paint? cover up the parts that isnt supposed to be red, and then spray it over.

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's completely transparent you can see the bulbs so it makes it look wrong... it has to be translucent, so the problem you get is if you paint it with a brush it goes on uneven and lights up uneven. You can spray it but then you have a lot of stuff to mask off, takes forever!
