No this is not a comparison, this is a question that always appear in my head most of the time. I love kpop but I still don't understand why in kpop, they always have 1 person to sing instead of singing together (for certain parts, especially chorus parts or any parts that everyone move). For me line distribution is so unfair in kpop, onda from everglow, Felix skz. I feels like song will be more enjoyable if they sing together for certain parts. I think that's make jpop and kpop different 🤔... The have their own style
I used to listen to DBSK, SNSD and a few other groups and I thought all members had a fair amount of lines. except maybe bands like CNBlue and FT Island. granted, the popular members or the center get more lines but it wasn't that bad. probably only 2010s generation of kpop does this? in jpop, especially LDH groups, they have maybe two singers in the group and the rest are dancers (they call them performers.) they made it clear of those positions.
actually that's just Kpop and Johnny's Idols (J&A) difference, since LDH, another talent agency where the groups are also idols do similar as what you've mentioned

For example Kisumai used to have a 3/4 division. 3 main members get most spotlights, most lines, most exposure and the other 4 were sidelined and treated like back dancers. Johnny's West was like this too briefly. AKB groups also does this but of course, their style is more like a rotation. This is different from LDH's concept. meanwhile groups like MomoClo or seiyuu/anime groups probably has fair line distribution.
