    Excellent instruction as always! I’ve learned a lot from your vids and I appreciate it. Recently became a volunteer NWCO trapper and all the water trapping techniques are in a large part due to your selfless trapping instruction, thank you!

    You definitely provide a service since skinning out a beaver costs more than a pelt is worth even in season. Rigor mortise means meat is no good for consumption and dressing them is too costly to make it worth eating the meat. Since these land owners are not concerned about protecting the trees (no wire mesh around base of trunks) do they pay a decent dollar to remove a beaver?

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These beaver are under extremely cold water. The ponds are still ice covered so the meat is still fine to consume. Some land owners help out and pay me.

    What will you do with the beaver if they pelt isn't worth anything? Will you at least use the meat? It's legal to trap beaver outside of the winter months? I'm new to this and have a mentor for the winter. I'm trying to pick up on as much as I can before I go out with him to trap.

    My neighbour stuck his hand in a conibear trap because he didn't know what it was. He called up a local trapper and threatened to sue until he told him it's an offence to mess with a trap in Ontario. The guy is a FREAKING SURGEON who uses his hands EVERY SINGLE DAY and he stuck it in something that was unknown to him!!

    Will they learn to avoid conibears when they have seen another beavers trapped in it? I have set two 330 and checked them out after one week or so. There were two beavers in but apparently trapped few days before I came. And after that I have set traps again with no result at all for weeks and months. Beavers were there for shure, l've seen lot of damaged trees . Are they so smart?

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they see beavers in the trap right there they can start avoiding sets. That's why I run 6ft of cable on my traps. Allows the beaver to get out and away from the traps.

    So new trapper here in n. e. Arkansas. 65 yr young. Cache River is a challenge for me. Water up and down lots. River steep on one side,, shallow on other. Most sign is on steep side of river. I've tried trapping 330' s by myself.. kinda dangerous for older dude. They are trenches where they come up on land. Bottom line, is there anyway to "dry land trap" beaver? To " lure" em to your trap? Would like to use snares, way lighter if it will get job done. Maybe few footholds

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Snares and foothold all worked excellent. You need to buy some caster based lure And put that on the shoreline a couple feet above your trap
