You have to see many of his catches in slow motion for multiple times to find out the brilliance behind it. Because he makes it look ridiculously easy for a first glance. Genius Junior.
Was by far my favourite player when I was growing up. Could do it all, bat at any position, be spectacular in the field and even pop up for a wicket with the ball.
Batsman wise he is always underrated against his peers Sachin and Lara and his brother Steve also But he deserves more respect than that Mark Waugh love from India
One of his best which isn't shown here is one against England in 1997 when he caught Mark Ealham off Paul Reiffel at Headingley. Possibly the best slip catch I've seen. Even as an Englishman I applauded that.
The one in the 1999 WC final was an absolute beauty too. The best slip catcher ever, I would rate him slightly above Carl Hooper. Both look so casual and at ease in the slips, but I've seen Hooper drop a few. I can't recall Junior ever dropping a catch.
In those days, it seemed like Australia never dropped a catch, and took plenty that should not have been caught. Aussie fielding is so disappointing these days
Aussies and South Africans are the best from 2000 to 2010... for Aussies Mark Waugh, Shane Warne (even though he missed some crucial catches) etc., and for SA, Kallis, Graeme Smith are the best.... what a site to watch in test matches....great fun...... gone
Yes...the running script with the tail is fairly common in baseball but the collared style with cuffs and long sleeves is not seen in baseball. They wear a short sleeve heavy jersey with long sleeve undershirt.
Mark Waugh ... what a cricketer, brilliant batsman, amazing fielder and a spinner with golden arm.. breath taking

My all time favourite player - the coolest cricketer ever and an amazing talent.

Mark Waugh - made it so easy & graceful. Master of slips…
These are simple catches noting outstanding
Best slips fielder the game has seen. Mark Taylor close second
Supreme slips fielder. Laconic.

The great legend Mr M waugh❤❤ 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🌹🌹
Crazy good hands!! 🤯
Mark waugh at second slip and Mark Taylor at first. Not many were put down.
Not a single catch was celebrated wildly. Jr took it like just swatting a fly. Just imagine Virat.
❤
That catch of Inzi off Warney's bowling is the single greatest slips catch ever caught on camera, if not ever! Just crazy reflexes!
Agreed, he actually caught the ball as it was going past him, absolute freak 😎

The best catcher in the history of cricket.
That would be Jonty Rhodes.

Roger Harper was decent too.
"About as good as anyone in the world." Try "Nobody better [infielder in any position] in the world." 😉
What about the one at the WACA against NZ? That was one of the best I've ever seen.
Great batsman, great fieldsman and an even better father. Love you dad
Wow are you son of Mark waugh?

Absolutely gem mark Waugh
In those days, it seemed like Australia never dropped a catch, and took plenty that should not have been caught. Aussie fielding is so disappointing these days
I personally Rated him Above Tendulkar
what a RIPPA
These are difficult catches, but Mark Waugh makes it look so easy with his languid ability
Standing so close to the bat wearing just a floppy hat and cool enough to take catches... they don't make them like that anymore.
One of the most stylish batsmen, extraordinary fielder & good bowler. Mark Waugh is a champion 🙏🏼
1:15 That’s an astonishing catch. His reflexes were unbelievable.
Now days.. Slip catching suck...
Some slippers watched the bat. M Waugh watched the ball all the way.
His body balance in slip was amazing. Made them look so easy!
Possibly the best ever pair of hands, in any position
Mark Waugh made batting and fielding look very easy
Greg Chappell was a great slipper also.
brilliant
the best catcher to ever play the game. Simply as that.
That silly point leading edge catch is my favourite. Like lightning!

Mark Taylor , Brian McMillan , Azhar
@2:18 that Inzi catch started turning match towards Australia
And later Gilchrist played one of the best test innings !
Alongside Bobby Simpson, probably the best slips fieldsman ever.
Best slip fielder

Aussies were excellent even before 2000 for later half of 90s.
And SA's team in the late 90s too was outstanding along with Australia, make no mistake under Hansie Cronje
Best Felder I Saw on cricket field everywhere
He came straight out of heavens to make the job done❤
The GOAT of catching a cricket ball !
The best batsman and catcher in the world
All his catches are clean. No need for a second look.
