- Invasive species cost the global economy over a trillion dollars each year. Find out how these non-native organisms are introduced into an ecosystem, how they impact local communities, and which measures can be taken to help prevent the introduction of invasive species.

I think humans are the most invasive species. Why are they not shown in the video ?
The same is happening in Europe, with blacks and Arabs being brought to Europe replacing whites. In 200 years, there may not any whites left.
here we are again I gotta watch this video from my science teacher.

Same. I'm here from my English teacher.
“Invasive species” is a colonial social-economic construct. The concept that a species “doesn’t below” or is “unnatural” or “outcompeting” isn’t objective. That it depends on a species being “non native” (also a bullshjt term) adds to the flimsiness of it all. One can easily make a case that many species which have been in an area since before the magical threshold of 1491 “outcompete” others - solidago and pinus strobus to name but two in this region. It’s time we move beyond this tired rhetoric and judgement about who is good and bad in an ecosystem and toward a place of recognizing the sovereignty of all species and their role as responses to conditions. Invasion biology comes into existence because we see ecosystems resource-centrically. When relating to our ecosystems without resource value judgements the concept of invasiveness ceases to exist.
Another interesting video..
Thanks natgeo for educating us...🙏👍😊
NAVEEN RAJ woow so great video and lovely 😊

The irony that we humans are the most invasive is not lost on me
So true
Actually all species are considered invasive if they’re in the wrong environment
_are humans considered as invasive species?_
only by those with common sense
Depends on what we do
LoL.
We should be
We evolved natrually
According to trump, yes 🤣🤣
One things for sure as our climate continues to change,this problem will increase.
@Zaid Nezam
You are completely missing the point,Ocean migration is already underway,food is transported around our globe,living in Portugal we have already seen an invasive species of spider transported with bananas and now able to survive the winter,the bark beetle is having devastating impacts as it travels further Northward bound,not to mention viruses bacteria fungi and molds and insects that can travel thousands of kilometers with the right wind currents,no you are completely missing the point "Climate changes doesn't cause insects to swim here"..................its a really nonsensical comment.
@Zaid Nezam
Think about it logically insects don't need to swim from one landmass to another while 50,000 merchant ships trading internationally,not including aviation.
@Zaid Nezam
"You said climate change (as in the warming of the planet) causes invasive species. Which it does not."
Tell me i am curious why are you so determined to argue the opposite,why do you think mackerel and tuna are now being caught in the Arctic Ocean if not from warmer ocean currents.?
@Zaid Nezam
If we look back at Earths geological past when our planets temperature changes Earths biodiversity also changes or are you trying to say it all remains in situ,? you do understand that invasive species as we continue to warm has the potential to cause more declining species than the actual warming.?
That last part holds true. Everything plays a crucial role. Let's not mess it up just so we can 'take care' of our problems.
Invasive species are there because of humans. They wreak havoc on ecosystems, so it's now our duty to control them where they are causing harm.
Humans are the most invasive
@@aspergillusoryzae3722 why there's no Invasive beasts (large animals)?
Master of The all fish Large animals generally can't reproduce or be transported quickly. They also need more resources to survive, so they can't grow in such great number without depleting resources and starving themselves.
@@aspergillusoryzae3722 why Russian people love arctic sea animals than coral reef sea animals?

The visual and narrator voice is so soothing and informative. 😊
Why does the impact always have to be evaluated in monetary value?
Because money is the most precious stuff for human
@@prasleybustommy8011
Is that a counter argument or you know... Just there.
Because that's how we quantify everything. Some people don't really care about the environment for what it is, so if we can translate ecological damage to money, they'd have to care.
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏿
You forgot to mention the main invasive species on this planet - human.
how about we get rid of u first.
This is true,,we are the main problem here,,sad to say,,but true
We evolved naturally wdym
Great video as always and a great way to learn the basic concept about what's going on around the world. 1 question aren't we as humans the literal definition of "Invasive species" and maybe a step beyond that?
One case of an invasive species disturbing native species is the common green iguana invading the Grand Cayman blue iguana's habitat. The blue iguana is endangered as a result of the green iguana. Rats also injure its hatchlings and threatened by feral cats and roaming dogs. It's sad to see the decline of a beautiful lizard. Another instance is the American crocodile in the Cuban croc habitat. Cuban crocs are decreasing in population due to breeding with American crocs and hunting by humans. Its restricted habitat makes it very vulnerable
when a random video of yours booms and the comments are full of ranting middle school students
I guess the same thing could be said about humans......
We should just all kill ourselves huh?
@@danielwuzhere6227 That would be a start .
It can't. Humans disperse through history of humankind naturally.
@@danielwuzhere6227 WHAHAH
I wish they mentioned feral cats. They are wreaking havoc in Australia and new Zealand. They kill 25 billion bird each year, and have made at least 60 species go extinct. Its outdoor cats aswell.
Yeah, worldwide a serios isse
Motivation and much inspiration
