Or maybe they are an npc like Gaia colossus as you mention already.
I agree with the Titans, It certainly would've matched up if Tails & Co. would've piloted the other ones. Given the Fact that Playable Character DLC is on the Horizon and that the Team seems to be open for Critique, hope may yet not be lost to see this Version of the Final Boss.
I know some people hate that Sonic is advertised as a 3D game, but has a lot of 2D, but there's a reason for that. Yes it's cheaper to make 2D segments, but it's also so you can see what you're doing when you're platforming, so you don't complain that you missed a platform because you couldn't see it properly
Here's the issue. Unleashed brought back the 2D sections which was good at the time. Good homage. Then generations brought in Classic Sonic and 3D Sonic still had 2D sections. Ehhhhhh. Then Forces brought in Classic Sonic again, and still had 2D sections. Frontiers is an OPEN WORLD game. The 2D shouldn't be necessary. Just make a better camera/puzzle.
@@davidwhidden9337 i feel like the 2d sections in frontiers and 3d sonic in general are for when the platfroming gets a bit too tight to do in 3d so they switch over. Since if you notice the 2d section platforms are alot smaller then the 3d section ones .The other reason is to give you a safety platform since falling in frontiers doesn't actually kill you often it instead sets you back alot.

I’m gonna be honest, the part of the game that made me most excited for the next game was Amy mentioning sticks. Sticks the badger was one of (if not) the best things that we got from Sonic Boom. I would love for her to make a return to the franchise.
I noticed for the first 3 boss fights you predicted how they would end perfectly lol. Speaking of which the final boss wasn't a bad boss fight but for this game it was a bad *final* boss fight you know. Especially after the other 3 amazing experiences.
Completely agree, The End is actually a pretty good boss, but it was a complete 180 of how the other bosses went which led most people dissatisfied. In my opinion, it lacked spectacle which could’ve made the fight a bit more interesting, it also didn’t build a whole lot on the space invaders type mini-games. Add the fact that Supreme, the boss before, wasn’t all that interesting compared to the other titans either, I mean it literally had a gun and used it once.
Btw the 4 island is a section of the first island. The 4th tower is in the first boss room and you can see the rest of the island but an invisible barrier blocks you from continuing.

Respect for leaving One Way Dream in. This really is the Sonic game we waited for all this time...and with the changes being made, it's only up from here. I'm just so happy. And yeah, it's not your imagination, that stage was straight-up Metal Harbor and a bunch of others are also heavily inspired from other Sonic stages. It's intentional and there's even a side story talk with Sage on Ouranos that explains it, and why Sonic is able to escape Cyber Space while no one else can.
The end of the game's soundtrack where you hear Sage sing choked me up(actual tears fell on my face😭) I haven't felt that with a sonic game for a long time. I really hope for a sequel 🙏🏾
So a note regarding Hard mode- that final Ikaruga-style phase is specific to it. On lower difficulties, the game skips straight from the cutscene immediately prior to the final laser and QTE. (It's kind of obvious something's missing even if you play Normal first.) It's kind of a weird choice, but that final phase is pretty hard, so I kinda get it. You miss out on that speech, though! One Way Dream also replaces Vandalize as the first credits theme.
It’s a good but flawed game, and damn do I love it. Sonic Team cared, and it goes to show what they can do when given time. Toward the end of last year, I saw you had been running a lot more Sonic content in anticipation of this game. After fully playing through it myself, I can say that I genuinely enjoyed it as well, and I'm glad to see you did too. It was a lot of fun to watch your reactions to each of the titans. The music was incredible, and the combat was a blast. As a long-time fan of the Genesis and Adventure titles, I'm very glad to see the series going in this direction again. Frontiers is by no means perfect, but it was very well made and a definite step in the right direction. Here's hoping they improve the formula, and we get more games like this one!
7:00 The best part of Sonic Forces was the part where Sonic was trapped in Infinite Cyber Land for ten seconds, until Tails helped him escape. It would have been much better if the rest of the game was better, too, and if the scene itself would have taken a few minutes.
Sonic and Eggman also Teamup in Sonic Chronicles. The Writing in Frontiers actually reminded me of it. The Characterization of Eggman in that game was actually amazing. The Story telling was most definitely it's strong part but i guess that is just par for the course of a game co developed by Bioware back then.
People call the final boss lazy, I call it sonic team briefly flying too close to the sun thinking they're Platinumgames, but just that sheer audacity alone makes it charming. i quite enjoyed final Ikaruga
Hey, so, fun fact, the last time Sonic and Eggman teamed up was in Advance 3 where they had to team up in order to fight Ultimate Gemerl at the end of the game.
I’m so glad you had a change of heart. As a day 1 fan the more I played I too thought “this is starting to feel like sa2b” but in a good way. I sure hope they make a sequel. Master ninja in my opinion is the most fun mini boss if you fight without combos.
Tangle as well. Sonic even mentions Jet by name. SEGA is actually putting together a lore team to reel in all of the lore and make the franchise more coherent now. Thank God.
@@A.R.T.4 not sure who tangle is but Jet actually exists in the universe. He may not be directly related to the plot, he does exist. So she shouldn't be here, different universe and all that. Yet here's Amy mentioning Sticks like she was around the whole time which is REALLY weird. Now I'm just curious what Adventure-styled Sticks will look like.
Natewantstobattle did an incredible job at making the final song, it was a message from Sega for their fans, pretty much thanking them for sticking by their side and not giving up on them to bring THE Sonic game we've all wanted and not losing fate, One Way Dream is the perfect name for that song too

I fished for so long when I was on the second island that I could buy enough attack seeds to get me to lvl 99 on attack. It didn’t feel tedious but what did feel tedious is upgrading speed and rings to max since it takes so long to do

From what I could gather Cyberspace started getting all of the stuff from the old world because of Sonic and gang. It began creating things familiar to them, which included G.U.N. and old levels, etc. Eggman also states that ever since they went into Cyberapace it began gathering data about the entire world. I think that's also why all of the rails and whatnot are on the islands.

But rather than letting it keep them down, they took every mistake as a lesson and came back trying their damn best to come out with something they knew would WORK. If this game failed, this song would be a tragic tale of a team that tried their best but still failed. But instead, it's a song of hope from a team that has it in their heart to do everything they can to do better.
We're only at the beginning of this One Way Dream, and I can't wait to see what lies over the horizon of those vast, clear skies ahead.
Supreme was all the titans
@@dramaticmudderer5208 No? It's just another titan, we saw that when it was fighting alongside the other 3 against The End.
I feel like the same situation as Endgame movie where we have nostalgia and bias at first time, but when we deep dive again, we see a lot of issue. My thought is that the original plan final boss is each titan have their own mini game like shooting from Supreme. And sonic finished the job. Or maybe they are an npc like Gaia colossus as you mention already.
I agree with the Titans,
It certainly would've matched up if Tails & Co. would've piloted the other ones.
Frontiers is mostly 3d tho
@@anacreon212 Counter point. Older 3D Sonic games had functional platforming sections and some even required precision.
no matter what though, you can never be as precise in a 3D game as you can in a 2D one
relevant vid on the topic: th-cam.com/video/g1_bOmCHNw4/w-d-xo.html
The plot literally has sonic opening too many chrome tabs till he runs out of memory.
Fun facts:
1) In Normal, only the QTE is in the final boss. 2) If you fail that quick time event, Sonic face plants into the moon like a klutz.
LOL that sounds amazing
The 4th tower is in the first boss room and you can see the rest of the island but an invisible barrier blocks you from continuing.
yea
Same goes for the 5th island but you can explore the entire thing
I cant believe they hit me with the same emotional gut punch as SA2, where our new black and red friend dies in space
This was basically SA3 then
@@danieltoledo5437 it really was. Giving us the origin of Chaos and stuff. Taking the adventure stages from SA1 and expanding on that to give us the open zone islands. If it had more playable characters it would no doubt be SA3
@@TheAxmore new playable characters and a new story is planned for 2023
@@NoreoeroN I'm aware
I like how she said look after her father, but they ditched him on the island.
I'm pretty sure that Eggman would be fine, and honestly if I was asked to look after my Arch-nemesis (who isn't even injured and has his own way home and I can cross the planet in a matter of minutes (seconds if it was Archie sonic) I'd take as "Help him if he needs it" which sonic would do regardless
@@HallowedKeeper_ it'd be nice if sonic at least went over to comfort eggman though.
@@shitanotosaurus
This IS the best way to Comfort him right now. Anything else, Eggman would take as mockery
bro i want to play sonic frontiers so bad. Choc has inspired me to actually have hope in a sonic game again
i loved eggman's character developement as he grew closer and closer to sage to the point of calling her his daughter and did you really think after finally having something of a bond he would give it up nope he will pull out all the stops until he regains what he lost aka his beloved daughter Sage
I just got done crying 😭 RIP for now, Sage. Gone but never forgotten 💛
Sonic is back. He's freaking back. 😀 This was awesome to watch. Both my nephew and I want the game! We'll have to save up now!
Choc, you made this game come to life in more ways than one. Seeing the 180 flip from the first trailer to now was surreal. I did not expect the game to be that phenomenal. And you showed that you're a sonic pro ⭐ Will you do a super cut, or wait for the DLC? Can't wait for the DLC, btw.
Also that sudden Rocket Power reference was hilarious 😂
Thanks for the journey, Choc! You did the Blue Blur justice 👍✌️👍
This game legit made me cry… twice! We need a sequel!
Moving around at the speed of sound, got places to go got to follow my rainbow
So a note regarding Hard mode- that final Ikaruga-style phase is specific to it. On lower difficulties, the game skips straight from the cutscene immediately prior to the final laser and QTE. (It's kind of obvious something's missing even if you play Normal first.)
It's kind of a weird choice, but that final phase is pretty hard, so I kinda get it. You miss out on that speech, though!
One Way Dream also replaces Vandalize as the first credits theme.
It’s a good but flawed game, and damn do I love it. Sonic Team cared, and it goes to show what they can do when given time. It feels like they wanted to do more but couldn’t due to Sega just not giving it to them. Honestly I’m just excited to see what they do next. Especially with them saying that the games from now on will be more tied together
I honestly loved this game. It’s been so long since I felt so good about a 3D Sonic game and I’ve played through them all. The music here even gets me emotional
There are 2 things you missed.
1. If you stay in the water balloon enemy, then you will hear the drowning music from Sonic Colors.
2. Listen closely to the lyrics of the credits music (One Way Dream). You can hear a message from Sonic Team.
13:00 "It feels like Metal Harbor" He finally recognized a SA2 stage, yay! New viewer, love ur vids Choctopus. Frontiers is just a good game, not a great one, but it is fricken awesome.
So, I kinda wanna see how Sage would deal with Orbot and Cubot and their shenanigans since she is way smarter and more serious than they are.
The saddest scene in the game for me is when eggmwn was at the cliff had me heartbroken
Man, the fact that you let the credits play out at the end, I love it.
I was so confused on how to feel about eggman. Was he good? Was he bad? Why is he a father now? Why am I crying at a finale of a sonic game? I have so many questions
he's still a villain. He originally was going to try to hack the Ancients' technology with Sage. I like him now technically being a dad thanks to Sage
Finally, after all this time I can watch your series on this game! I wanted to beat the game before watching any videos/clips related to the game so I didn't get anything spoiled. I finally beat it TODAY and I finished your series. I loved it! Keep up the good work Choc. (And incase you guys are wondering what I thought of the game, 11/10. I loved every second of it.)
This game woke up something for everyone that played it. Something that's been dormant for years.
Hope
0:54 They are trapped in the shadow realm
Sonic and Eggman also Teamup in Sonic Chronicles.
The Writing in Frontiers actually reminded me of it. The Characterization of Eggman in that game was actually amazing. The Story telling was most definitely it's strong part but i guess that is just par for the course of a game co developed by Bioware back then.
The moon WAS the secret final boss...
That's why Eggman pissed on it. 😆
He went far across the frontiers
He broke theough it all
He found his flame
He... became Undefeatable.
Fun fact those jelo water guys will play the iconic drowning music if you stay in them too long
People call the final boss lazy, I call it sonic team briefly flying too close to the sun thinking they're Platinumgames, but just that sheer audacity alone makes it charming. i quite enjoyed final Ikaruga
Does this mean Sticks is canon in the modern universe now? Because Boom takes place in a different universe.
I really like how Amy casually throws that out as if that's natural lmao
Tangle as well. Sonic even mentions Jet by name. SEGA is actually putting together a lore team to reel in all of the lore and make the franchise more coherent now. Thank God.
Everyone has a Boom Version. Maybe Sticks has a version here?
@@A.R.T.4 not sure who tangle is but Jet actually exists in the universe. He may not be directly related to the plot, he does exist. Silver does too by extension of Forces, even if 06 supposedly never happened.
The problem here is Sticks though. Her only existence is Sonic Boom. The TV show specifically. So she shouldn't be here, different universe and all that. Yet here's Amy mentioning Sticks like she was around the whole time which is REALLY weird. Now I'm just curious what Adventure-styled Sticks will look like.
@@kyotanaka920 Tangle is a fan favorite Character from the Comics
18:17 this level is actually fully original
24:36 Called it. When I finished the game last week I knew Choc would mention Cuphead at some point during this fight 😂🤣
"Sonic won't be fast enough" Sonic will never forget this one
Natewantstobattle did an incredible job at making the final song, it was a message from Sega for their fans, pretty much thanking them for sticking by their side and not giving up on them to bring THE Sonic game we've all wanted and not losing fate, One Way Dream is the perfect name for that song too
HOLD UP NATE DID THAT??!?
@@agent_8167 Yep that was Nate, I know that singing anywhere
"So what you're saying is... Sonic knows how to Live?" And he also knows how to Learn
I'm so happy for sonic fans, the sonic series and sonic team. What a great game. It feels so good to have such a positive experience with a sonic game again.
Sage is definitely one of my favourite Sonic characters. I’m glad they didn’t pull a Chip on her and kill her off like they killed him off.
I feel the same way, this is my favorite game of this year, it isn’t perfect, but it was such a fun experience, a roller coaster of emotions
17:17 well that's right. Its the second half of Kronos Island before it got split into 3 different islands. Fun fact, if you go into rhea or ouranos island using a glitch in kronos, you can hear an unused reference to the sonic comic character Tangle
Really loved seeing your reactions to some of my favorite video games growing up as a kid and now this. I also finished this game, and I'm glad to see Sonic going in this direction and hope to see it improve more on what a cool gem they have.
I am so glad that I manged to finish the main story and get the thre final boss before this video came so I can watch it without fear of spoilers
Imagine we get an Insane difficulty DLC that also adds yet another phase to the final boss where we play as Super Sonic
I am hoping for a gamenode that allows younto play as Amy, Knuckles, or Tails in cyberspace, or as Eggman
@@jokerpenguin9429 I think that was actually confirmed to be coming, as the Road Map says "Three New Playable characters" and has Tail, Amy and Knuckles. This makes me thing that we are going to get a story DLC for each of them (Or all of them at once). As much as I would love a full Tails or Knuckles solo game I don't think those two are quite ready for it
I am from the future and can confirm you are a prophet
You are a prophet
"That's my girl."
They announced some upcoming updates for Frontiers. Including playing as other characters. Can't wait to see what Sage is made of.
Kind of upset we didn't get to see your reaction to the egg memos, theyre one of my favorite additions to the game
One of the best Sonic OSTs ever.
the fact we're gonna get playable Tails, Knuckes and Amy as part of Sega's update wave for Frontiers fills me with so much joy
Yo honestly I was surprised how much I love this game man. I was so sad when it ended! Definitely the best Sonic game in years and hopefully a building block for things to come!!
RIP the Chaos who just bough a vacation home. Seriously, this made me feel even more sorry for the guy
This game was an absolute ride. So glad Sonic is back
Don't worry next game it will we back too there regular nonsense
Dude, Sage specifically called back to Sonic Heroes for Sonic and Eggman teaming up. They also teamed up against Solar...wait what was I talking about again? That one never happened.
The part towards the end of the game has all the feels, especially between Eggman and Sage, and I am here for it!
I gonna be honest, that final boss took me so long and so many tries to beat that the game literally gave me extra lives just so i could beat it. By the end i had like 7 or 8 lives.
4:34 I LITERALLY JUST DID THIS FUCKING SEGMENT about 20 minutes ago as of right now and my sentiments could not have been the more of the same "STOP AIMING FOR THAT ONE SONIC!"😂😂😂
21:27 You can't counter the claw swipe. You're supposed to counter the *laser bullets* that come after it.
23:40 That *is* the hidden boss. If you're not on hard mode, it skips straight to the quick-time event at the end of the fight.
The credits did make me cry. To think Sonic Frontiers was a story about Eggman experience Fatherhood only to lose a child.
Hey here's an idea for a Frontiers mod.
Make it to where The End can be fought on all difficulties, and add a Super Sonic boss fight right after- exclusive to hard mode- fighting against the broken pieces of The End Bayonetta 1 style to save Sage.
I can say from experience that, yes, you can max out Sonic's stats through fishing.
I fished for so long when I was on the second island that I could buy enough attack seeds to get me to lvl 99 on attack. It didn’t feel tedious but what did feel tedious is upgrading speed and rings to max since it takes so long to do
@@tvs26 YES
Leveling speed and rings is so painful, I literally decided to watch some videos while leveling because it takes so long
I love how choc wanted a sequel or dlc for the game, and they announced that Sega is going to do it and it’s going to let you play as Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and Sage
My favorite part was when sonic said 'its speedin time' and proceeded to speed around the islands
They did say that Sonic Adventure 3 will be the next game. This game is a build up for it
Ok, you know what Sonic is going to do to the bosses and you say it for content. This is the fourth time in a row.
I feel like sonic not getting a new super form based that cyber corruption he was going through was a HUGE missed oppurtunity
Remember that scene in ratatouille when the critic ate the dish that the rat made, and that transported him to his childhood, well that was me with the ending of this game brought me back as a kid tearing up at the end of SA2B.
"So, what you're saying Is Sonic knows how to Live...and Learn?"
That was an absolute rollercoaster I really do hope they make a sequel
Thank you for letting me enjoy the credits I loved sonic frontiers but I mostly enjoyed watching your playthrough more
10:50 Sonic and Eggman also team up in Sonic Chronicles The Dark Brotherhood and in Sonic Lost World. Also to your statement about this game being the closest you’ll ever get to Sonic Adventure 3, technically Sonic Unleashed is SA3 cause it’s known as Sonic World Adventure in Japan and having grown up with it that name makes alot more sense than unleashed lol
Choc struggled on the final boss
Imagine his suffering if he decides to play Touhou
