well tbf, CLAMP is appealing to both boys and girls. I think many of us boys are also following CLAMP franchise especially when all the plots culminated into Tsubasa Chronicle. Amazing world building
I love the little bits about his sister so cute 🥰 I currently binge too much shoujo manga, specifically villainess and reincarnation stories but I have no room for any physical manga lol
That talk about siblings borrowing stuff from each other without permission is so true ww I read my brother’s books and wear his jackets without telling him. He always knows tho and I always return them when i’m done 👍
Thank you for the Oga clip! My brother and I were the same. We'd each get to buy manga once a month and we'd get one action and one shojo manga and then read both. Thank you for translating Oga it was strangely nostalgic to listen!
**Stares in horror imagining seeing a bunch of manga without their cover or super creased up** CLAMP had so many great series. Chobits is one of my first manga/anime beyond Pokemon. I exposed my nephews to Angelic Layer for their first anime. I still need to finish Clover and possibly cosplay the main guy, but I think that would be better as a couples cosplay IMO. Some day... Thank you for the translation.
Wait, the Boys Over Flowers manga is still ongoing!? Also, I remember my intro to shoujo being live-action adaptations of Boys Over Flowers and HanaKimi, and then my intro to shoujo anime being Cardcaptor Sakura, The Wallflower, and Maid-Sama! HanaKimi got me interested, and then The Wallflower and Maid-Sama! even more so, but especially The Wallflower, but I never really thought of them as works mainly aimed towards girls as young as I had been back when I first tuned into them, going through them like I was going through all those works mainly aimed towards boys like me. Looking back at them now, I find myself further appreciating The Wallflower, particularly the anime adaptation, which I assume is more faithful to the manga compared to what I've seen from the live-action adaptation, for how grounded it feels, especially with the dynamics of its main cast. I suppose it also served as a major influence in how I approach male-targeting harem stories, which reminds me of the hilariously awesome fact that Rumiko Takahashi is a major figure in that genre. Also, I think even older works show us that whether a work is mainly aimed towards boys or girls is not about the gender ratio of the cast but about how much the story appeals to the target audience. One example I have in mind is Lucky Star, which has a mainly female cast but is a shounen work because of how much it appeals to Japanese male nerd culture. And now I'm having ideas about how a male counterpart of that sort of work would go...And last but not least: Uncle Oga!?

I love that he doesn't want his family to find out, not because they wouldn't approve but because he'd get grilled for his gatcha obsession. 🤣🤣🤣

"horimiya" talked as a shoujo manga made me lose 5 years of lifespan lol that aside omg the x/1999 continuation wish was so relatable T-T

I wonder if Oga would be interested in dork diaries. Thanks for the clip!

@@theoverlordbear about boys over flowers, I think they meant by "still ongoing" that the manga still gets live-action/drama adapations etc...
@@x_mochizuki Ah, I see, I see! Well, anyway, it has quite the enduring appeal, huh? 😲
