I actually was brainstorming a clash reality rpg of such an game idea, tails and sonic being a duo team on speed and Mario and Luigi being a duo for power, but it be an interesting play, no complaints on the Olympic games of course, hope we have another one soon

I absolutely adore the fact that you're walking around as Mario and Sonic in the Tokyo 1964 map, and then as Luigi and Tails in the Tokyo 2020 map! I just makes my heart happy to see the heroes' partners working together to bring them back!

It really is a shame how there's a story here.

No!, Sports and Smash bros doesn't count these are spinoffs!
It'd be cool to see an official crossover. Either something that would lead into the introduction of the olympic games between the two or something that could take place after the fact. Like the multiple crossovers of the olympic games causing the fabric of reality to go haywire and just spew character from each world together. Or heck, both series have games that take place with actual humans (Sonic Adventure, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 2006, Mario Odyssey). For all we know, both worlds are the SAME world and they just take place on different continents. (I haven't played any of the games I mentioned, I'm just throwing out suggestions based on what cultural osmosis gave me so if I said anything that wouldn't have worked with the lore from either game, please forgive my ignorance)

There's still evidence that these party/sports/and kart games are canon! Sakurai said that the smash games are not canon.

The cutscenes are like Sonic Generations for the 3DS. I know it wouldn't be easy to animate hours worth of cutscenes just for a sports game but I just wanted to point out the similarities.

You know when I was younger I equally loved Mario and Sonic. My first Mario game I played was Mario bros Wii I think and Sonic one was Sonic adventure 2 battle. They were both extremely fun and I wished they were in a game together as buddies and friends and it turned out they actually were! It also makes sense because Luigi and Tails are great friends and it makes sense. I wished these guys spent more time together but I'm glad they did from the start they really developed from rivalry to learning and then a great friendship and I'm all for it! I love Mario and Sonic and hope to see more of them being together in the future!
My first Mario game was Super Mario 3D Land. The first time I have seen Sonic is in Mario and Sonic London 2012 (Wii version).

Thank you for uploading this video. If I have to be honest, some characters shine more than others in this story. In fact, I feel that there’s a preferential treatment when it comes to its Sonic cast in general since they tend to do more things in the story and the Mario characters are just there. I know Sega developed the game and have the rights in making Olympic Games they could at least balance the characters more.
Either that or they are restricted,wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo had mandates regarding character interactions.

*Mario:* Sonic and I have known each other for years. He is my friend from Planet Mobius the place he protects from the evil Dr. Ivo Eggman Robotnik. He has also enjoyed being in the Mushroom Kingdom the place I vowed to protect from the evil King Bowser Koopa. Alone, we’re strong, but together, there’s nothing we can’t do.
Sonic told me about this story where he and his younger self fixed Time and Space due to Eggman, his previous self, and a demonic robot called the Time Eater. Eggman had an unfair advantage over the 2 Sonics until they started to use the 7 Chaos Emeralds. Mama Mia, thinking about that Unfair Advantage Eggman has made me seriously angry at that bald-nosehaired psychotic pest. One day, I will kick Eggman’s butt for that. As for my own story that I told to Sonic, it was about the time when King Bowser Koopa was planning on marrying the one who was truly in love with me, the Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach. Not cool. Bowser destroyed my favorite hat that day too. A mysterious hat ghost named Cappy has a goal that was mostly similar to mine: saving his sister, Tiara. Bowser used her for that stupid wedding. Cappy and I then teamed up, he fixed my hat and took the form of it. This gave me a new power: throwing my hat and comes back like a boomerang. Another one is called capturing. We managed to kick Bowser’s Butt and destroyed his tuxedo. But the victory came at a high price. The inner moon started to crumble. Princess Peach, Tiara, Cappy, Bowser, and I managed to escape. However, Bowser still needs to Learn that Peach is truly in love with me. I kicked his butt that day only for myself. Sonic was trilled about that story I went through. He and I are in the same boat: our archenemies, Bowser and Eggman doing nothing but thinking about killing us and pulling tricks on us. They need to stop doing those unforgivable things to us all. We need to find a way for the 2 of us to send them to Prison. It’s not easy with all the equipment they have. No matter what happens, we will find a way, using our powers and the Anger and Vengeance Within.
