I remember seeing the J Mascis Squier in person on my first trip abroad alone in Japan in 2013 and have over the years regretted never pulling the trigger then and there, always thinking there'd be another time and place for a new guitar. What I didn't realise at the time was while yes, there would always be another time and place, that moment in time would never repeat itself. I am reminded of a younger more hopeful and optimistic version of myself every time I think of this guitar and will be receiving a well loved J Mascis Squier in the mail within the week after all this time and hope to cherish it for as long as I can. Thank you for sharing this beautiful soulful expression of who you are.
How beautiful. What a vibe. I’ve been watching videos with this guitar for a few hours today to find somebody playing good music on it. This one really resonates with me. Much love, Chris.
Thank you Maksim it means a lot! I’m happy this worked for you. I also try to always find demos of gear that sounds as close to what I like and play myself. Take care buddy
This is a real review No talking No 15 minute intro rant Just Amazing playing showing not only the 🪓 abilities sounds and capabilities but how great of a player you are. Amazing I’m buying one.
This video is great, but it is not a review, nor does the uploader claim it to be. I think this video demonstrates the guitar, but even more demonstrates his great playing and use of effects. What did you learn specifically about the actual guitar in this that makes you want to buy it? I own the guitar, but it didn’t make me be able to play like the uploader. Don’t get caught up in buying more things. Learn with the guitar you have if you want to sound like the uploader.
I just found your channel while researching the J Mascis Squier Jazzmaster and then fell in love with your playing. Your music is truly beautiful and so full of "feel". Instant subscribe! Thank you.
not sure why i clicked on this since i own this guitar already for some time (its great btw!)...but i have to say i am blown away by your tone and playing, its incredible!
Same story as many others here: l came to your channel for the guitar - which l ended up buying - but was so Impressed by your playing and your self penned pieces that l’ve been back a few times. I note you are not comfortable with tabs, but would you consider doing a video showing us nubes how to play that intro piece? It’s really beautiful (and so haunting l can’t get it out of my head)
I remember playing one of these after building my MJT gold Jazzmaster which set me back like 1800 Ish and I love and just being like his damn it this is basically as good haha. Sounds great man
I just had one of these delivered from Sweetwater last week and it plays and sounds really good. Not a typical stock Squier that requires a lot of tweeking to get dialed in. I lowered the action a tad and it's money now. You really can't go wrong with this guitar. Those pickups sound so sweet with a little dirt on them. For 500 bucks, it's a no brainer if you're on the fence about buying it.
I agree! It so much guitar for the money. Crazy good value. Unfortunately I sold mine to fund something else to keep the channel running - but I will most likely buy one again when I have the cash.
I love it when people rip on Squiers, especially when they can't even spell it properly. Their "higher end" guitars are fantastic, and as long as they have the stigma of being a cheap Fender, they will continue to be a real value. I have to say though- this particular model is probably the best one they've ever done. I used to go to my local music store and see this hanging on the rack- thinking that while it has a pretty cool vibe about it, it can't possibly play all that well. But after trying it out and getting them to sell it to me (brand new) for 400 bucks- it's hard to buy guitars that cost 3 times more that don't have the feel of this one. It was really the first guitar in my arsenal that lead me down the path of finding guitars in that $500 price range that represent real value. This to me is still one of the best in that category. Nice video- I really like your playing. Would love to hear more.
That Squier misspelling is quite possibly due to bloody spell check. Spell check probly accounts for 50 % of illiteracy today. I spit upon spell check.
Saw one of these on marketplace. Stumbled on this video doing some research, and now I’m picking it up tomorrow. That first riff sold me completely. Phenomenal playing man, subscribed to the Chanel and all. Don’t make me buy too many guitars please
Chris is right. You can't go wrong with this guitar for price and feel. I never saw me owning another Squier, but took the chance on this because of so many great reviews. These are the business.
My favorite player now on TH-cam. Your video playing the Martin 000-15 Streetmaster caused me to buy one and I fell in love with it. I think this one might be next! Great soul in your playing.
Was on the fence after one of these popped up locally for a good deal…saw this demo and immediately pulled the trigger. This demo I’m sure has sold a ton of these things
Ok, So I played one of these yesterday on a Hot Rod Deluxe. Sounded a little dark with very little breakup. Then I dug in a bit. It was one of those holy smokes moments. I've played Strats, Teles, PrS...and nothing sounded like this. The way those pickups broke down was something I've never heard myself play before. I walked out with it. YOu should set up an affiliate link for how many of us have bought one based on this video.
Thank you Ian! It means a lot. I’m very surprised this video has been receiving so many kind remarks. Very thankful. It’s a great guitar, and especially considering the low price tag.
I have rec'd email confirmation from a real live music store this morning that my JMJM is shipped. A glorious day despite the high wind snowstorm that's upon us right now. I am not comfortable with spending $700 Cdn. taxes in for something as non essential as a guitar! But. I have a truckload of entry level guitars here, all of them self "luthiered" into really nice players. Luv every one of them. I realize after the recent covid death of an inlaw, the importance, yea verily, the imperativeness of minimalistic life style. (I'm a geezer). So I am compelled to sell off my guitars which will easily pay for the J Macsis. I have researched myself to the brim in offsets to settle upon this one. None of the vast numbers of reviews mentions any shortcomings. So price tag be danged! I want to rank among the players out there that own this instrument. This particular jazzmaster will appreciate in value with time. That's obvious already. Remember people: don't accumulate unnecessarily.
@@rutiger6901 I think you've made a good choice, friend. After saving up enough for an American Fender, I ended up choosing this Squier. It feels super comfortable and I'm able to get out of it sounds that inspire me to play. That's all I ask of a guitar no matter what name is on the headstock. Plus it's nice to have the extra cash to spend on an amp and pedals

I am in love with my mascis, almost feel guilty for getting it at such a great price and is by far my favourite guitar(even prefer it to my fender jm)Great playing to boot.
Just picked one up yesterday, but no feelings of guilt for the affordability. Mine was used for $300 and has some issues because the kid tried to mod it and did shit work. Once I iron out those issues, it's gonna be a right player.

Great job showing off what this guitar can do! There's more to it than just the middle position. Admittedly, that's my favorite sound, but I appreciate the versatility that's available. I've had one for a year now and it's become my go to for almost everything that I write. Even if whatever I write eventually gets played on something else.
