if you search on youtube for "Class 37 Driver's Eye View: Exeter St. Davids to Kings Norton (Birmingham)" at 1 hour 34 or thereabouts, you can be seen on Yate platform :-)
I caught that loco western champion moments later at droitwich on the way home to Kidderminster Now hopefully fingers crossed for this loco to return to the mainline and back on railtour duty like it did 8 years ago And hopefully no more mechanical problems with the engine this time as it did in 2021
This is the second attempt to do a mainline test run by this loco d1015 western champion Because 3 years ago that first attempt ended with a failure thanks to a seized engine And it’s been 8 years now since d1015 was last seen on the mainline the last was way back in 2016
Time goes on, I think it was in maroon the last time it was on the mainline. Before that it was in Golden Ochre. It did work a few specials around here and Westbury but I remember it as one of the remaining few Westerns and I last saw it in action during December 1976 travelling light near Bath towards Bristol but I had run out of film! Most of the paint had been washed off it and it appeared whitish. I did take pictures of D1015 in service including along the sea wall at Teignmouth in the driest summer ever of 1976.

That is excellent as it wasn't well publisised and was an hour late.
@@thefakewasp503yeah it was due to points failure at Gloucester that caused it to go late

Yeah, unfortunately I didn't bother to see it.
@@thefakewasp503luckily for me because I still see that loco parked up with the other diesels at Kidderminster diesel shed
