    This deck you are playing is ironically weak to Land Destruction and a well timed Blood Moon.

      This deck is all over the place. Im an OG player when LD decks were much more simple. Just cause better cards are now available doesnt mean you have to go 3 colors now. If LD goes on the opponent is screw n any beat stick will seal the deal

    Given HOW many time you side-boarded in Rest in these games, it feels like the meta game should start main boarding Leyline of the Void (maybe, it isn’t Hogaak levels of oppressiveness). You did sideboard in 2x Rest in 4/5 matches and they hosed the decks they were up against. Serious consideration
    Phenomenal showing for Daddy’s improved masterpiece!

    • @gdiridium5525
      @gdiridium5525 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      nah thats definitely just bias for the decks he got matched against - mainboard leyline looks sexy until you get matched against tron, 4c, hammer, burn and titan and go 0-5

    I prefer Stone Rain to Molten Rain when running more than one color, but with Bloodbraid Elf that double-red requirement matters much, much less. I need to take my Mardu Land Destruction deck for a spin some more.
    EDIT: I'd probably go with Leyline of the Void since most of the decks you really want GY removal for, you need it right away rather than turn 2 or 3. Most of the time, if it's that late, they're already set up and you're on the defensive if you haven't just outright lost already.

    • @dooriscool3413
      @dooriscool3413 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is my philosophy in general whenever dredge and/or living end are large parts of the meta game, when there not, I would disagree tho, because 4 is alot of sideboard slots especially for a deck like Zoo that has so many options for it's sideboard.

    It is probably worth it to run vindicate instead of/in addition to molten rain in this list. It can hit lands, but it can also hit other problem permanents at the same rate. I also like lightning helix over/with boros charm because the manabase is so painful in the deck.

    Daddy, you're back! :D I was afraid you would leave us for a while after your last video with Modern being MH2 now.
    But I wanted to let you know, that your decks are awesome and just last weekend, I used a 5c Domain deck that was inspired by YOU and went 4th place in a pretty stacked local paper tournament! And best of all, I have beaten Andrea Mengucci TWICE, once in Swiss rounds and once in the Quartetfinals!
    Thank you, Daddy! This would not have been possible without you!

    • @FloydMcRyan7
      @FloydMcRyan7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ankulaypoulay60 I've seen that video and commented a bunch on there. It's a bad version of the deck. No Lightning Helix is a bad idea. And the Molten Rains are rather hit or miss, depending on the matchup.

  • @tennesseetide3833
    @tennesseetide3833 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I like the RiP vs leylines since it frees up 2 SB slots. You have lots of opportunities to cascade into them which greatly increases their utility whereas leyline is dead if not in the opener. I think its overall the best choice to be a little softer to living end by stronger vs the field.

  • @evanmurdzek2935
    @evanmurdzek2935 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I really enjoy how many of these decks have the same base but are customized to attack the meta in different ways. It's a great way to see how small changes can change match ups significantly

  • @RoastedPheasant
    @RoastedPheasant 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Lavinia, Azorius Renegate could also be a great hoser for the meta!
    She counters any free spells and because it's only in effect for opponents you can still run a pile with cascade! She also hates Tron, since she shuts off early Karns and Ugins so hard!

  • @kaosblatte
    @kaosblatte 2 ปีที่แล้ว +64

    It's been cool to see the evolution of your 5C Domain deck. But that last match shows Modern is going to continue to be nigh unplayable until those dumb elementals go.

    • @cg5380
      @cg5380 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't play modern much because my favorite deck isn't playable but do you think at least hitting ephemerate as a cop out would help

    • @DarkestFiction
      @DarkestFiction 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@cg5380 no, because Ephemerate isn't the enabler for all the bullshit. It's not in every Elemental deck. It would hit 4C Elementals and that's about it.

    • @kaosblatte
      @kaosblatte 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@cg5380 too many of the MH cards just offer too much value and if you hit Ephemerate they will just start using Undying Evil. Look at how easy it is to hit all the bonuses with Domain, it would be trivial to splash black between fetches and shocks.
      The problem is that the cards themselves are busted. They offer too much value and it destroys the tempo of the game. The threats have become so strong that the answers to those threats, are now also threats. It's just stupid. Like if your opponent plays Ragavan that's such a huge threat in itself. A 2 damage clock, that ramps on hit and steals your topdeck. And it can Dash out of an empty field too. If you don't answer it you could potentially lose right there. So how do you answer it? With a maindeckable free removal with a relevant body. Then you have cards like Force of Vigor that pretty much in practice just dunk on sideboard cards.
      Magic is supposed to be a game about resources and tradeoffs and now you have maindeckable creatures with Legacy-tier spells stapled onto them for free.

    • @cg5380
      @cg5380 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When it comes to RIP Vs Leyline, since this deck is able to run white (And doesn't need the grave), I'd go with RIP. Leyline is better in in decks unable to run white (Or where you might want to have access to your grave). That being said, I'd probably still go with Relic of Progenitus over both as I'm a fan of the Cantrip (And the ability to play it out T1 under Thoughtseize).

    I think you could run Chalice of the void vs 0 drop cascade decks. Generally not very good to cascade into but works as hate vs that deck. Not sure if you want so much of a silver bullet piece but living end seems like a really hard match up.

    • @ChainedNBeaten

      @@ChainedNBeaten agreed, That was part of the reason I suggested it but with 8 cascade effects I don't think we want to think of bringing it in vs decks that don't run any 0 drops unless as we add them we remove some of the cascade effects.

    A random idea for a new card cycle:
    Retrace plus kicker.
    Basically, you have a single color cards for one, two, and three mana, which are sorceries with a powerful color appropriate effect. However, if kicked, then it becomes an instant and is exiled.
    Something like:
    WW
    Put two 1/1 solider tokens onto the battlefield
    Retrace
    Kicker exile this card
    This card can be cast at any time.

    I keep hoping you'll revisit your Kaalia version of Domain list at some point with Raffine, since it seemed like a good fit demon was the main thing it was missing. Since Raffine and Kavu loot so much and Kaalia cares about dragons, you can also maybe justify a singleton Ebondeath along with more staple graveyard stuff like Bloodghast, which I like just as a flex.

    Don't you think bolt is bad in this deck? I always put other stuff in its place. The deck has no turn 1 play anyway, and it's such a bummer when you cascade into it. Also, most threats in modern would require more than 1 bolt to be dealt with. Helix is underwhelming as well, but at least it can balance out a bit the fact that your manabase is so painful.

    RIP is probably better than Leyline for this, especially since the deck is, like you said, essentially a burn strategy. Diluting that too much by mulling for a leyline seems risky compared to finding and playing RIP. Just kinda have to accept that the graveyard matchup is gonna be shaky.

    Rip makes it easier to find in game than leyline, you can gamble on cascade

    Leyline does seem good on paper, but they also have the evoke creature to beat it. I think liiving end is just super good rn, and your mu is so terrible that the leylines arent worth it

    Why didn't you include Kira like in your older vid?
