Yes that's right, but the Tempest is also taking out most of the fines. And I've now made two nylon sieve filters for the top of the bakki showers that are taking out the very fine stuff.👍
Hi. Brilliant job, under pressure, I'm debating putting a tempest before my shower I suffer from fines because I'm heavily planted, usually bad around this time of year after they've spawned.
Thanks for your support, I'm finding that I need to clean both tempest's every day at the moment. But that's not an effort, as you will know. I suspect that will change long term as the sieve and both tempest's catch up on the back log because the filters were off for a few days. Cheers.
Looks great, thanks for sharing. Now when you have space in your filter pit....Is it possible to turn the old vortex into pump fed/gravity return mowing bed? If possible its a good way to reuse the vortex and future proof your system.
It would be good to reuse the vortex but I would have to smash the concrete in the shallower part of the filter pit and dig down another two feet to conceal the vortex. Not sure if I have the time and energy. Good idea though and thanks for the support, it's much appreciated.
I would have had to start smashing concrete and digging the rest of the filter pit to the same depth as the vortex part. So the twin tempest's and bakki shower were the next best option. But ideally your right. Thanks for your interest. 👍
Don't seem to lot filter on pond the bakki shower not enough on its own you need it some more filtration like k1 moving bed pal do you do water testing pal
I understand what you are saying and I asked the same question to two different koi dealerships. Just to put my mind at rest. The first one advised me on the Tempest set up. And the second echoed his thoughts. They basically said that the sieve filter takes out all the big stuff and the twin Tempest's will remove the finer stuff, taking care of the mechanical filtration. Then the pumice stone in the double 5 tier bakki shower deals with the biological filtration. I tested the water this afternoon, the ammonia was zero and the nitrite was 0,5. Thanks for your interest. 👍
Love your tone. You are so laid back through such adverse times. Patience of a saint.
Thanks for your kind words.👍
Nice new setup. Looks grand.
Cheers and thanks for your support.
Great job mate. Beautiful pond. So the ceitus sieve is taking out all the large debris. The showers are doing all the biological.

I would have kept the vortex to take the bulk of the big waste leaving the sieve to collect the fines

I'm beginning to wonder if I do need some extra filtration. The water quality is fine but the clarity is not. Even though I've fitted a new EVO 55 UV.
