夏八木勲さん扮する落武者が村を見下ろし、この壮大なテーマ曲が流れるあたり鳥肌ものです❗
渥美清、ショーケンの亡き姿が思い出され、小川真由美の妖艶さも恐ろしいほど美しく記憶しています。
当時 ハリウッド勢力に押されていた日本映画界において負けなかった数少ない邦画の名作のひとつです。
夏八木薫さん演じる尼子の落武者達が山頂から村を見下ろすとOPとJAL旅客機が離陸するEDの映像に曲がとてもマッチしてましたね。あと、有名な狂気と化した多治見要三が猟銃と刀を手に村人を襲撃に向かうシーンは特殊効果と相まって一層恐怖感を上げていましたね
この後、角川が横溝正史原作の映画を何本も作ったけれど、私はなんといっても 1977年のこの野村芳太郎監督の作品が好き。そして人が背負う業、因縁、それゆえの哀しみ、それらの旋律をまとわせた芥川氏の音楽があってこそだと思う。
なんて、素晴らしい曲なんでしょう！。心の琴線を震わせます。

最初は俗っぽい土着性なのが次第に交響楽風の重厚なロマンスへと展開していく技巧は素晴らしい。
鶴子のお宮参りのシーンでのこの曲泣いた！

Yasushi AKUTAGAWA (1925-89) was one of the leading Japanese composers of his generation. The son of the noted Japanese writer Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Yasushi was influenced by the music of Stravinsky in his early years. Akutagawa's music was decisively influenced by the music of the Japanese composer Akira IFUKUBE, who is best remembered for his movie score for "Godzilla." "Yatsuhaka-mura" or the Village of Eight Gravestones is a 1977 movie based on the 1971 novel of the same title by the Japanese Novelist and master storyteller Seishi YOKOMIZO (1902-1981). In 1566, during Japan's Warring States period, eight samurai belonging to the Amako clan, who lost a battle with the rival Mori clan, flee to and settle in a remote mountain village, and start a new life as farmers. But tempted by the promise of huge monetary prize, the villagers invite the fugitive samurai to a village summer festival, kill them while they are intoxicated, and hand over their heads to the Mori clan. The four village leaders who sold the samurai to the Mori clan win huge prizes, but misfortunes began to fall on members of their families and their descendants. Villagers believe that the series of misfortunes is a result of the curse revolving around the murder of the eight fugitive samurai. In 1933, there was an actual mass murder incident in which one man in a remote village (not far from where the movie is set) killed 30 of the villagers before committing suicide. In Yokomizo's telling, this is made into the doing of a direct descendant of the chief among the four village leaders, and the victims were the direct descendants of the three other village leaders. After that incident, only the village chief's family (Tajimi family) have living descendants. The novel's story, which is set in the 1950s, revolves around a plot to murder all the remaining members of the Tajimi family and to take control of their enormous assets. Yokomizo's novel is a story of a mass murder in which the murderer tries to confuse the investigators by making things look like the result of an ancient curse. The movie version does not change that story, but adds another layer; the mass murderer, though not aware of her own roots, turns out to be the descendant of the Amako clan. So unlike in the original novel, the horror element (rather than the mystery element) is dominant in the movie version. The movie was a major success in the Japanese box offices, and is considered by many to be a masterpiece of the Japanese cinema from the 1970s. Certainly, Akutagawa's music -- nostalgic and sensuous at times, and eerie and horrifying at others -- contributed a great deal to the movie's reputation. It is a real pity that this movie and the beautiful score remains virtually unknown outside Japan, which is why I very much appreciate the upload.
芥川也寸志氏の名作です。同時期、「八甲田山」などと重なり、わずか1ヶ月で書き上げたとか。ゴールドスミスも「チャイナタウン」を1ヶ月で書き上げている。神が降りてきたとしか思えない。「系譜を追って」は永久登録曲です！
そうでしたっけ⁉ ゴールドスミスは『チャイナタウン』の劇伴を、作曲・編曲・録音を合わせて、僅か計10日間で仕上げた、と古い本に書いてあったが。

私もサントラ盤の『系譜を追って』が大好きです。
しかし、実際に映画で使用された劇伴の『 系譜を追って』の方が、もっと好きです。

日本映画において、このテーマ曲はじつに素晴らしい位置に存在します。同時にこのテーマの映画本編も大変素晴らしく。名作と自信をもっていえます。たまには、ゆっくりと見直してみたいものです。
八つ墓村の映画音楽には映画のストーリーより感動した記憶があります。道行のテーマ曲も素晴らしいし、永久保存です。イタリア映画にも合いそうな壮大なスケールを感じます。過去の作品として忘れ去られるにはつくづく惜しい気がします。
八つ墓村のおどろおどろしい、400年の怨念にまつわる殺人事件をテーマにした内容にも関わらず、このOP曲。壮大な優しい曲調。怖さが倍増した。
ド田舎に行った時に寒村が目に入ると、自然にこのBGMが流れてくる。
後、夜の桜を観てると要蔵が何処からともなく走って来そうで怖い。
それと、多治見邸が炎上するシーンとこのBGMは鳥肌が立つ。
このような素晴らしいアルバムをアップして頂き有難う御座います！
芥川先生の美しい旋律と、映画の風景が蘇ってきますね😃後世に残す名盤です。
この映画の音楽がよかったのを思い出し、サントラLPを購入しようとしましたが、すでに国内盤が廃盤。なんとか輸入盤を購入し何度もこの音楽を聴いたものです。今聴いてもこの音楽は素晴らしいです。
朝焼けの明石海峡大橋を渡るときに聴くと壮大な気持ちにさせてくれます。
すごくロマンを感じる素晴らしい曲だと思います。

される女性を見事に演じてました。
２０年以上前に金曜ロードショーで放送されたんだけどエンドロール？の
雲海を見下ろす青空と音楽のさびだけ妙に記憶に残っている。
間違ってこの映像出しちゃったから少し聴いてみたけど、八甲田山にちょっと似てるね...やっぱり芥川か...。

映画の内容はともかく、音楽は素晴らしかった。
だいぶ前にロケ地の岡山某の「ふるさと村」を、
