- Ukraine's Stugna special forces unit posted this footage of a raid on Russian forces in the Kherson region. The troops open fire from boats as their comrades jump in during the night operation. The troops also hurl grenades and a secondary explosion breaks the night. The video was posted in early August.

A lot of ethnic Russians serve in Ukrainian army and Ukrainians serve in Russian army like General Romanchuk who successfully crushing the offensive of his supposedly fellow Ukrainians. It's not a war of peoples, but a war of politics and ideologies.
Russia don't need Finland, Sweden or other non-Russian foreign countries. But Eastern Ukraine is literally Russian populated and always was. Southern Ukraine as well, making them parts of Ukraine was a big mistake of Soviets. Russia just need it's core historical lands to not be part of NATO.

Although I'm for Ukraine, this wasn't some offensive action but a retrograde (retreat) or intel mission. You see them on land retreating to (what looks like a RB-15) boat and getting the heck out of there. Spraying and praying isn't effective return, or even suppression, fire.

Shooting from a boat from more than 30 meters in night? You will hit everything, but not the enemy.
Was thinking the same. But no point going back from a mission with mags to spare so might as well unload everything at the shoreline.
They are retreating after a combat/recon mission and using suppressing fire (to keep the enemy heads down) to ensure safe exhilaration.

The idea is just to keep the enemy's heads down during the extraction.
This is not Call of Duty.
Suppressing fire is a standard tactic because IRL war gunfight, most ot the times soldiers don't have a direct sight of the enemy.
Guess it position and fire there to keep the enemy under cover.

Thats not about surpressing fire, they are just amatures dressed in the best gear NATO money can buy. It would help them more to just lay down and decrease the body surface. The attack was both risky and a desperate move, the whole situation is a failure from start to end.
Son, I cant relate to COD im a Quake one player. Yes you fire at places where you believe the enemy might be but its not that simple you have more variables like is it worth to waste ammunition and do you expose yourself to the enemy by doing so.

That's a probing team not an assault team. You don't send a section to raid an unknown position, you take a platoon.
