Shade Flat in Edit Mode - Blender Tutorial

As correctly mentioned in comments, the method described here doesn't actually turn on flat shading, it's more of a workaround to make the mesh appear shaded flat, but in reality it is not shaded at all. However, I still think it's a little easier on the eyes.

Its not flat, it isn't shaded at all, ie unlit
