  • Tavče gravče is the national dish of North Macedonia. This dish is popular in many North Macedonian restaurants. The main ingredient of Tavče Gravče stew is fresh beans. Therefore, this dish can be called bean stew. The traditional Tavče Gravče recipe does not contain meat, but nowadays many places in Macedonia add meat. @Vyriška Virtuvė made a modern version of Tavče Gravče. Like other cuisines of the Balkan nations, Macedonian cuisine has features of Ottoman Turkish cuisine.

    RECIPE FOR MACEDONIAN STEW TAVČE GRAVČE (12 persons):
    Smoked sausages 12 pcs
    Hot smoked bacon 300-400g
    Onion 4-5 pcs
    3-4 carrots
    Paprika 3-4 pcs
    Garlic 1 pc
    Mashed tomatoes 600-800ml
    Tomato juice 400ml
    Beans 800-900g
    Pair 1 pc
    Melted butter 2-3 tablespoons
    Vegetable oil 50ml
    Salt to taste
    Sweet paprika 1 tablespoon
    Flour 3 tablespoons
    Chili pepper 1-2 pcs
    Bay leaves 2-3 pcs
    Coriander 1 teaspoon
    Ground pepper 1 teaspoon
    Parsley and onion leaves.
