- This is a 40-year-old Tteokbokki restaurant located in a local market in Jeju Island, Korea

These are very hard working ladies, as you can see, they have to support themselves while lifting, pouring & transporting food around. They’re clean, hygenic when prepping food, and sanitizing. They’re a bit messy with some spills here & there. But you can tell they make their food with love.
For anyone that doesn’t know the foods:
1. Teobbokki - spicy rice chewy cakes in hot pepper sauce, also served with boiled egg or fish cake
2. Sundae - savory Korean blood sausage, and other pork organs / entrails, clean, boiled multiple times to remove gaminess. Served with sauce.
3. Fried Korean tempura of all sorts - dumpling, gimmari (rolled noodles in seaweed), sweet potato, stuffed chili pepper with shrimp or noodles, they fry lots of stuff! Delicious if you dip into ttebboki sauce.
4. Gimbap - savory sesame oil Korean sushi, rice, vegetables & protein, usually with egg strips or spam or imitation crab.
5. Savory & lightly salted Fish cakes boiled in fish cake broth / soy sauce broth or anchovy broth.

It is really fascinating how these women although old are incredibly strong and passionate in cooking, grandmothers' cooking do really have a soft spot in our heart.

@08.00 isn't it fried calamari..? And @ 9:31 breaded eggplant! We make similar stuff in Greek cuisine with basil - tomato sauce on top.... Oh my 😋 we use more herbs they use more spices, but all Korean food items look amazing. I almost smell them....😋😋😋

Las personas se sorprenden de la cantidad de trabajo que supone hacer comida callejera, de la edad de las mujeres coreanas que hacen esta labor (claro que es muy admirable 👏🏻). En México es igual, sólo que se trata de comida mexicana callejera la cual también se cocina con mucha sal, mucho aceite, mucho capeado o harina. Claro también es muy rica.

I am sorry these ladies were caught squeezed between the poverty times of pre-80s Korea and the affluent now. They deserve to retire but maybe circumstances don't allow that.

Estive em Seoul em dezembro de 2015, gostei muito da cidade embora fizesse muito frio nos dias que estive lá, mas a comida la nao dá é péssima, até o café é ruim, tentei comer algo de lá mas achei tudo ruim até o chá achei ruim.
