    Quick. Someone freak out about Fluff demoing an amp they can't afford. It's helping.

      At least now the MKII will drop in price. That amp is basically a metal core machine. I don't think there was a kills itch album or Adam D produced CD before 2010 that doesn't have it there.

    My guitar teacher is an H&K Endorsee, runs a Grandmeister 36 (the original) and a Tubemeister 18. Uses the Grandmeister for his big productions due to it's Modeling capabilities and the Tubemeister for small gigs whenever the Grandmeister is unnecessary. I find that H&K do a terrific job of having the perfect balance between a Tube amp and a Modeling amp and blend it into the ultimate All-Tube machine, it does have it's very own sound and some people may or may not like it, I however really dig it! The only reason I bought the Tiny Terror instead was because it was a lot cheaper and simpler to use.

    It already sounds super tight and with the boost almost eliminates needing an 808 style pedal for tracking! Super impressed

      True. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually GASing for a GM 36 or 40 more than the Mesa Mark 5:25...which has been my dream amp ever since it was released. Good shit, H&K!

    @torchlord11 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The one thing I noticed about amps is they usually like certain speaker/ cab combo's better then others, and this Triamp is no different. I'm thinking it needs the speakers that was designed for it more then anyother amp, just because mid frequencies are quite a bit bright. My Coreblade was similar, and I decided to do some tube changing to different brands till I found what worked best with the cab that i have. You should find a way to get the matching cab that goes with this amp.

    • @BOUZOUKISIGNIS
      @BOUZOUKISIGNIS 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      torchlord11 i totally agree with you.I own the grandmaister deluxe and the jj's pre and power amp tubes helped a lot taming the brightness of the amp.Which tubes did you use and which speaker since all h&k amps share the same bright tone?!

    • @torchlord11
      @torchlord11 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I did something interesting with my Coreblade. I found out about 4 months ago that it KT88 power tubes would work in it, so i bought some. I currently use ET90 speakers, which give a smooth bass lead tone, and the bright treble frequencies are really subdued a lot compared to the Jensen Blackbird, which is really bright, percussive, and treble based, and a Jensen Tornado, which is really smooth, and slightly tamed in the treble range, with added bass frequencies compared to the Blackbird, that I previously had in my Port city OS Wave. I liked the tornado, but I blew it up when using it on it's own while playing my amp to loud. I had a hard time taming the Jensen's, and felt the speakers added a treble that I couldn't eliminate that easy with the preamp controls, so i switch to ET90's. The ET90's are really lead guitar smooth, and not very percussive. I can crank my preamp knobs all the way up, and it isn't that over the top with bright treble frequencies.
      I wasn't sure about the ET90 speakers because i lost much of the attack, and percussive treble that I got with the Jenson speakers. In addition I gained a lot of bass, some mid range that I lacked with the Jensen speakers, but they are extremely smooth ,and i say great for lead tones, so I decided to dink a round with the 8-10 different pre amp tubes, that I had laying a round, to see if i can add some bright frequencies, and percussive attack back.
      I'm currently using Tungsram ECC83 in V3, V2, and V1, which reduced a lot of the bass I was adding with the KT88, ET90's, and the port boost from my Port City OS Wave cab. I did also like the Tun sol 12ax7 in V1, which was bright but smoother, lead like, then the tungsram. I am considering Sov tek 7025 in the V1, as well, to bring in a more over the top percussive bright sound to my ET90's.
      I got a couple of JJ 12ax7's, which really dulled the sound to much for what I was going for tone wise, and I felt they didn't really cut through the recording mix like I wanted. I like a bright sound, but I wanted it smooth too, so yeah asking for a lot lol.
      I find I can do some interesting things with this setup. With the KT88's I can bring in enough yummy bass that I can create a lead tone similar to my very very bassy D activator neck pickup that is devoid of pick attack, with my bridge pickup, by dropping some treble in the preamp section, and cranking the resonance, and bass. The Mid range preamp control brings up upper mids, and don't affect the bass controls too excessively, and the treble, and presence, and treble do what they normally do, but they can't be excessively abused, because the speaker limits the upper high end frequencies. I think all the preamp controls seem to be really even when cranked to the max, but still sound good in a max setting.
      Well that some of my odd ball setup.

    I hope you read this comment as I recognize it's 5 years after this was filmed. I've just got one of these amps, and I have to say I'm really underwhelmed. Your sounds here are NOTHING like I've come even remotely close to, and I cannot figure out for one minute what the hell I'm doing wrong. I've been playing for years and do have some experience at achieving sounds that I like. I'm using this amp with an Axe FX3 in 4CM, into a Fryette Power Station 100, into a Boogie oversize 4x12. 1A/B are just woolly messes, 2A/B are somewhat workable, and the 3's are just embarrassing. To be honest I'm just at a total loss...any thoughts?
