Thank you for a beautiful demonstration making it very understandable. I would have thought the yellow pods were the seeds. Thanks to your demonstration I see that there are seeds within each of the yellow pods. Great job!
This was just what I was looking for. I purchased a variegated Calla Lily and now have several pods and had no clue what to do with them!! Now I do thanks to you!
Thank you Misilla. This year was the first year for one of my Cala Lillies to yield thirteen flowers. I went out yesterday to bring in the pots and discovered seed pods. Thanks to you I now know how to get the seeds out. Thumbs up.
You’re welcome! I’ve read that it’s best to wear gloves when handling the seed pods due to plant chemicals that can cause irritation. My hands were fine, but just in case. Glad you found this helpful! Thank you for watching! Have a great weekend! Misilla
Ive been looking for a harvesting video like this...n all r old n not very informative or bad camera angles...soo glad i found yours and its recent 😊..my lillys are already drooped over but i didn't want to cut them till i knew what color to look out for...now i kno...thanks so much! Cant wait for an update on them
I too get seeds from my callas but honestly I was surprised to see you squish the seeds out of the "kernel." I have always just planted the kernel never thinking it could have more than one seed inside. My seed pods and kernels are not as large as yours are but my plants are still young. I hope you show us how your seed planting goes and thank you for your video!
I think I haversted mine to early, they were just starting to turn from green, but it's the first time in probably 7 years of growing these that I've seen the fruit/seed pods grow so i got trigger happy :P (Also it's been a crazy year here weather wise, warm winter, freezing cold spring, suuuper hot summer with a genuine drought...Was scared of another heatwave that will kill everything off again. I Can't wait to see what autumn brings :P ) I will plant a few of the entire pods fresh as they are, and dry some out as an experiment. To be honest I've never had a problem multiplying them, I just split the roots in the winter and I have more han I know what to do with now....My family all have multiples. (They are all in large pots)
Thank you for showing me the finished product. I gathered a couple of pods from my Calla patch, put them on the fence to dry , and they disappeared. I’m blaming sneaky birds for the theft.
The black lilly in my sitting room has just started to seed for the first time after flowering for the past 5years . Just seeing what I have to do,as I will be saving those seeds.
I am trying a second time to grow. Didn’t notice seed pods last but my new ones have them. Which is ultra cool, last plant didn’t come back☹️. Am now hopeful that there is a possibility to grow from seeds and not just division.
Hi thank you for showing us the calla lily seed. Do you growthem from those Hi. Thank you for showing how to collect those calla lily seeds. Can you grow them ? When and how? Thanks!
I harvested seeds last week (they are green). I still have more I can harvest. This is my first year growing flowers and collecting seeds so I did not realize they needed to be fully ripe and dried. Can I still dry the green seeds I harvested? Or should I just harvest more pods and let them dry out?
I have an old bath with soil in it and have calla lilies growing in there. They keep propagating so I’m thinking they’re just dropping the seeds into the bath. The “cob” is present at the moment on some so I might try your advice. A couple months ago I just grabbed a handful of the lilies and placed them in a big pot in my fernery and after a couple of the stems died away new shoots grew up and are blooming wonderfully now.
thank you for this video. i have two callas that have produced the seed pods. they are still green and growing. i have grown the giant white for 2 years, and this is the first time it grew fruit. it was a mature bunch when given to me, maybe it needed a while to adjust. the other i bought this last winter, a nice red color, smaller plant. it only grew one fruiting stem. i wonder if they needed to cross pollinate? the neighbor has a bunch of the white ones, but they multiplied by division. her have never set seeds like this. my white one has maybe 6 or 8 stems growing fruit. i also grow a yellow one, but it blooms at a different time and has never set fruit.
I have a question so after removing the seed from the pod I was cleaning and noticed they actually have smaller more seed looking ones inside of what I thought was the seed so what part is the seed what do I plant confused sorry two years late just found a random pod in my garden yesterday so I'm a noob.

That’s wonderful! ☺️ Make sure to wear gloves, someone commented it can irritate the skin.
Thanks so much! Just what I wanted to know!
You’re welcome! ☺️
If you have sensitive skin, wear gloves.☺️
THANK YOU! I had no idea of wha
T to go with the little pods.
Great lesson!!!!
You’re welcome! Someone mentioned it’s a good idea to wear gloves when handling the seed pods.

Thanks for simplifying this process… 😊

Hi so glad to hear that you found this helpful! I forgot to plant the seeds! I need to do it ASAP! Thanks for watching!
@@LearnToGrow1 lol it happens..well whenever u do it..i cant wait to see it
They do look like baby corn! Thanks for the video 🔥🙌
Lol they do! Thanks for watching! 😊
Very helpful tutorial, thank you. I have two seed pods from one of my old calla lilies & I know now how to harvest them when ready.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the advice!
You’re welcome!
Thank you for your thorough explanation. We have several flowers going to seed and I will try to propagate them.
You’re welcome! If you have sensitive skin wear gloves, I recently read that calla Lily seed pod flesh may cause skin irritation.
@@LearnToGrow1 Thank you that's good to know, ours are still green but will wait till they turn yellow like yours did.
@@SuzyValentin No problem! ☺️

Oh no! What a bummer!
The black lilly in my sitting room has just started to seed for the first time after flowering for the past 5years .
Just seeing what I have to do,as I will be saving those seeds.
Make sure to wear gloves, I was told that the pulp contains toxic phytochemicals.
How to let calla lily grow for 5 yrs?
That is awesome! Now I know how to collect the seeds 😊
I love it! 😍
I am trying a second time to grow. Didn’t notice seed pods last but my new ones have them. Which is ultra cool, last plant didn’t come back☹️. Am now hopeful that there is a possibility to grow from seeds and not just division.
I hope they do well for you!
very cool I well definitely have to try growing those
Thank you Jackie!
Hi thank you for showing us the calla lily seed. Do you growthem from those
Hi. Thank you for showing how to collect those calla lily seeds. Can you grow them ? When and how? Thanks!
Wow, very cool! Mine don’t make these seeds either!
Again, thank you for this post. Informative and clear, very watchable;-))
You’re welcome and thanks for watching!
Mine started sprouting in the pod. Do you know if I could still dry them? Tia!
Did you plant them? Save the ones that did not sprout.
Thank you

You're welcome! You have a nice variety. I need to plant the seeds this fall. Thanks for watching!
That would be great if I could get my calla lily bulbs to bloom. I've had them for several years and cannot get them to bloom.
Hi I’m sorry to hear that. Are they getting enough sun? Excess nitrogen in the soil can promote more leaf growth instead of blooms.
Luv luv your videos
Thank you 😍
Is it possible to grow an already made bouquet of calla Lilly?
If yes please help me before they go dry. I want to keep them for memories
If they have seeds like these you can save them.
I have a question so after removing the seed from the pod I was cleaning and noticed they actually have smaller more seed looking ones inside of what I thought was the seed so what part is the seed what do I plant confused sorry two years late just found a random pod in my garden yesterday so I'm a noob.
Hi the seeds are the ones inside the pods. Someone mentioned to wear gloves when handling Calla lily seeds and pods as they can cause irritation.
@@LearnToGrow1 I was fine with them even rubber them with my finger because another video said there would be like a skin on them but there wasn't
I am looking for Calla lilly seeds sorted by color if anyone can help me out
I think I've cut mine too soon, still green... will they still be viable if they dry?
Hi it's best if they are ripe so the seeds develop properly...just let them dry if the pods look mature and see what happens. :)
@@LearnToGrow1 thanks, will try :)
What would happen if you just left them on the plant?
When conditions are right, they might sprout. :)
Is this variety on Amazon?
Hi I got my seeds from my aunt’s garden. Did you look on Amazon? Thanks for watching!
Learn To Grow
I don’t know what variety to look for. I know their calla Lily’s . But when I searched on Amazon I found several different results.
Can I plant the whole pod?
Yes, but you will need to thin out the plants or separate them later. Thanks for watching!
I accidentally keep on growing Calla Lily seed's all the time without touching them.
Nice!
Do you have seeds available?
@@guardiantransit7527 Me? Plenty. But I live in Australia.
These are extremely toxic. Use gloves! Keep away from pets and kids.
Thank you.
