Disagree. I grew up in an extremely affluent area, I don’t think it’s appropriate to drop names but I do have friends who’s parents are multi millionaires and two who have dynastic wealth that’s now in the billions and many of them HAD to get jobs to access their wealth. I had one buddy who sadly passed in 2014 who’s family member invented hollow core doors, I know it sounds small but prior to his patent doors were only made of solid wood or metal, nowadays all homes, business etc have doors be it inside or outside that used that technology and he and his siblings had to wait tables, work retail and start charities, along with finish college that they financially figured out for themselves. They all went to Africa and South America as work volunteers as well. Now the two surviving kids are in their early forties and wealthy, not just from the family but their own solid work ethics and ingenuity. Another two friends from the same group…their father invented a famous brand of cookware that he managed wisely, sold the anodizing process to the military but retained the commercial rights to. His kids work, they had to get jobs while in high school, their parameters weren’t as strict as the other family but ethics and conscientiousness were imperative, without a job they weren’t allowed to inherit their trusts. I mean, sure, I’ve known some rich kids from school and this small town who were utterly useless and benefiting from nepotism but saying wealth like that isn’t ever tied to people who imbue their kids with a sense of what a dollar is worth is just wrong.
my family is rich we have everything but ive been working since 17 because they dont spoil me with money so ive stayed really grounded they give me around 10 bucks a day for food in school pretty much it
Everyone I know on scholarship works hard. Typically doing 80-90 hours per week of uni+work combined. When you have the advantage, it's in best interest to maximize that. For instance, I did projects (paid) during my Masters which helped me meet a lot of amazing people in the field.
Rich kids have their first job be either the family business or an internship at a fancy company. Their parents usually don't make them work service jobs unless they're trying to teach them lessons about the value of a dollar.
