Fair enough. Maybe it should be titled, Installing 1/2 of the Hinge on a Cabinet Door, Part 1. Part 2: Installing other half of Hinge on Cabinet. Most of the other videos on installing cabinet hinges/doors, show the entire process. The video was helpful. My expectation was wrong.
Good vid, but I was mainly watching to see how you attached the hinge to the cabinet. I am assuming that is pretty straight forward once you have the hinge attached to the door.
Just curious why you didn’t follow through and show how to place the door on the cabinet and attach inside part of hinge. Two parts to hanging a door: 1.)attaching hinge to door and then, Part 2, attaching hinged door to cabinet or frame.
the video was about installing the hinge not the door to the cabinet. The part is easy to do. i have another video that shows you a little on how to install it to the cabinet this short video was based on this video th-cam.com/video/fKhctbx0qWY/w-d-xo.html fast forward to about 20min
MyBadCats that's not hard. The hinge goes around the frame cabinet once you are happy with the space around the cabinet door. You can further adjust the hinge up, down in and out once attached to the frame. Trust me that part is not hard with these hinges.
This video shows the hard part. Attaching the door to the frame is child's play. Adjusting it after is just trial and error. Lots of videos out there show the adjustments already, but you need to try it yourself, you really won't fully get it from a video.
Hi we are renovating our bathroom and need to get vanity with quartz top and sinks out . Very heavy so we want to get all 4 doors off. What is the best way to remove the doors with these hinges?
I have a hard time drill the cup hole in my oak cabinet, also by the template you suggested. Wonder if I should use the hammer drill instead of regular drill?
Kristina Brazeal you can adjust the door up and down via some screws on the hinges. A set of screws moves it up down and u can use a level on top of both doors to make sure it's leveled then just follow that height for other doors. The Most Important Thing Is To Make Sure the hinges are at the same location on the doors for all doors. So if the bore hole is 3 inch from the top it should be 3 inch from the bottom then using the screws on the hinge you can further adjust the height.
I have exactly same kitchen cabinets but the problem i face is not the soft closing with these hinges but the protrusion that happens at the side of the hinge. Its almost 1/2 space open when the cabinet door is closed.. Is it only me? @Da.P.A, can you share a picture of the hinge side of the cabinet when closed? Is it flush with the cabinet itself or also have a gap?
I have cabinet doors with a 3/8'' lip and a 1/4" inch overlay. Would these hinges work for a lipped cabinet door and if so, would the overlay measurement include the lip, increasing the overlay measurement to 5/8" inch?
Redoing cabinets with raised panel doors but it doesn't seem to be working. Finally got in a good spot but looks like the hardware is exposed. Please help!
They make a hinge restrictor clip that fits inside the hinge to limit the opening angle and prevent one banging into another. They’re on Amazon in multi packs.
After I installed my liberty hinges I noticed that when the doors were closed the edges of the hinges could be seen when viewed from the side.(vertical space between the door and cabinet where hinges attach. Is this a cup depth problem or hole(cup) placement issue.Thx
@@daP.A Probably intended to ask what kind of bit - it is a forstner bit, 35mm. That is the standard cup size. You can also get the mini-cup hinges which I believe are 26mm.
while i have now followed your instructions i now have about a 1/4 gap on the non hinge side. I cant adjust to hide the gap either. Is there a hidden requirement of door width i did not know about because these doors fit fine with the hinges that mount on the outside. thoughts?
Before replacing hinges, check the overlay you currently have. If your opening was 15 inches wide, and your original overlay was 1/2 inch, then you would have 16 inch wide doors. If you un-knowingly bought new hinges with standard overlay you need 16 1/2 inch wide doors. You can see how you need to ensure you get the correct overlay with the new hinge. Hinge adjustment can do a lot but it cannot make up for 1/2 inch.
Can anyone help me here... The doors on my cabinet and cuboard are like half inch overhang on both sides... I am trying to replace the frameless hinges with better ones but twice I have been to home Depot to get desired hinges. All of which are making the door short. What do I mean by short? Once installed, the door is short by is like 1/2- 3/4 inches from where the opening is. It's like the current hinges I'm getting placing the door 1-1 1/2 inches overlap on one side. Any suggestions???
You probably my need 3/8 or 1/2 hinge, or look at the hinges you took out it might have the size on them. Also the hinge has an adjusted to move side to side
Be sure you are replacing with 1/2-inch overlay. NOT 1/2 overlay. Those are two very different specifications. Not that either should have anything to do with the height of the door. That would be entirely due to where you hang the hinges against the cabinet. Maybe you are working with a 15x14 door and you accidentally rotated the door to make it a 14x15 door...
Install hinges on the door. With the hinges in the 'open' position, place them up against the frame. Slide the door up or down so that it looks even. Mark the center of the slotted holes of both hinges on the frame. Remove door. Drill 7/64 pilot holes. Put door back against the frame. Screw in the one screw on each hinge. Done. Now just adjust the hinge screws for tilt, height and overlay so that it lines up with the doors on the other cabinets.
How did you figure out where to start drilling for your hinges? Think I missed something in your explanation. Did you find these items at Lowes or Home Depot? I'm not mechanically inclined & need everything spelled out for me. Thanks for your help if you can extend any.
Where to drill is dependant on the hinge. Standard overlay, 1/2 overlay, 1/2-inch overlay (1/2 and 1/2-inch are different), inset are the different types. The hinge should come with a simple instruction on how inset the 35mm cup should be from the edge of the door.
Jeez.... such bad info our there confusing everyone. The overlay area he is measuring is wrong. It's not the visible part of the face of the cabinet box, it's the distance the door OVERLAYS the cabinet face from the opening edge....the part behind the door. That's why it's called OVERLAY for crissake!
I think you mean the indentation in the paint from the old hinges. That happens if your old hinges were installed before the paint cured. You will need to sand that smooth and then repaint.
i did the same thing, but I have an issue being able to open the cabinet doors all the way with the new hinge in place. anyone else have the same issue with these beveled edge doors?
@@daP.A I guess i went up too high in size this time, lol. The first ones didn't allow the door to open, the second ones, while they allowed it to open all the way ended up having a large game when closed on the handle side so bad you could see into the cupboard area. I figured they were a standard thing....back to Lowes again, thanks for the response and video. Much appreciated.
@@DanWoodIsSpeedstream Did you ever find the right size that worked? Im having the same issues for the beveled edge doors. The overlay is 5/8" but because of the 1/4" bevel, the bore hole cuts into the bevel and the round metal part is exposed and isnt covered by the hole. If I move the hinge further into the door so it sits completely on the flat surface of the back of the door, then the door wont open fully because the door will hit the frame before it can get all the way opened. So frustrating. No good videos anywhere explaining what to do in this situation we are having it seems. This video has a door with a bevel but it looks like an 1/8" inch and cant really tell if the doors open perfectly or or what the exact overlay measurement of the door were when they were hanging originally.
@@drewnehrenz3958 yeah, I ended up eying it after messing around with some spare doors I had torn down to place a wine rack in. They're 99% good. Only had to fiddle with the screws on the hinge to allow for closing and opening correctly
@3:50 the reason the hinge does not sit flat is because the hole is not deep enough, I had the same problem, drilled a little deeper and problem solved
He stated the reason it did not sit flat. He did not hold the drill perfectly straight. Commonly happens when you try to drill holes with a handheld drill. Going deeper and still not being straight is what will potentially lead to going through the door. Don't advise to just drill deeper. Advise to just touch up the area that is not flat.
Not a very good template if you cannot have all the holes the same distance from the edge of the doors. Why not just measure 22mm from edge of doors inward and that will be your centre for the bit.
not sure what you mean the template eliminates mistakes and works, especially when you are doing over 20 doors. the template grabs on to the edge of the cabinet door and lines up things perfectly. You only need to be concerned how far in vertically you want the bore hole to be.
Paul A so why is the hole on one of the doors right on the edge. was the jig not placed properly, if so I prefer the tape measure method better. I think this is more an ad for the jig than installing of hinges.
BOBBY the template sits right on the edge of the cabinet. I placed the template wrong on a few, if u notice the cabinet edge is rounded so sometimes the template might of been pushed in more away from edge or out toward the edge more moving the bore hole slightly. That was my fault not the templates. I still thing it's great I did over 20 doors with no big issues.

What makes the hing don't close to the firm all around
