Sangeeta Kalanidhi is not given on the first year of entry in the first match? I now live in Trichur. This is not like film fare award. It is not yet given to neyveli Santhana Goplan. This is an award by the peers in music for the lifetime achievement and contribution to advance the music. Even did not get it. He himself will not claim it. Understand the . To become an expert on Vedas extraordinary in depth knowledge needed & blessings of divinity. It is so in music too to get it Sangeeta Kalanidhi is more difficult than even Bharat Ratna. The most erudite people had to wait for years. Some have missed it due to death.it is given to a musician and one can lead the Music Sada's with his extensive knowledge, experience and maturity. I t is not for glamour, Voice, singing,deep Knowledge. They have to be knowledgeable about Lakshana, Lakshya sangeetham. With log service and dedication.

Amritavarshini was pure bliss. I have been sick for about 8 days. Listened to several of your concert recordings several times over. I do not usually have the attention span to hear long drawn rag alaapan but your style is reminiscent of stalwarts from yesteryears. Its a style slowly becoming extinct among ‘new age’ carnatic singers who will add twists and turns where there are no corresponding swars. I don’t see either of you doing it which maintains the sanctity of the raag. Well done! I won’t exaggerate and say your Amritavarshini brought rains in Texas or woke me up from my sick bed but hearing your concert brought delight to an otherwise boring, bed-ridden routine. Dhanyvaad!!
They are great singers and the best in them is the advantage they take of the two, to give a unique resonance to the accoustics.. js lv their performance.

Did I hear Srikrishna sing the dhaivatam (D3) in one of the ascending phrasings during the manodharma section of Jaya Jaya? Never sure if D3 is varjya in aarohana of Nattai or not - Can someone clarify?
+Chem zard D3 is varjya swaram in the avaroha, so he can sing it in the aroha phrase, nattai is sampoorna in aroha

Just another point . Nattai Aarahonam in varna book has D3. But in timeless songs like Jagadanandakaraka ( Pancharatnam), Maha Ganapathim and Swaminatha paripalaya, D3 is not used AT ALL. Hence use of D3 is debatable and entirely depends on how you learn it from your guruparampara.

In 99.99% if the carnatic concerts the raagaas aren't mentioned before each raaga is started. A layman like he will nut be able to note and identify the raaga sung un other concerts. So I hope un future all the vidwaans abd vidushi will mention the raaga and start singing.

An appeal to all violinists as ‘Pakka vadhyam’ : you are truly great artists without a doubt. When the main artist is doing alapana or neraval , it would be nice the violinist gives them the independence to display their artistry. When the violist insists on reproducing the alapana or neraval there is a definite time delay. For example one has to hear it then reproduce it, at which time it sounds like an annoying bee buzzing. The violinist gets uninterrupted time to display his or her talent, then why can’t the main singer get interrupted time ? Please ponder on this and give the beautiful time for the main artist. I can understand the filling in at the pauses , that is good, but trying to play along with the artist in rag alapana and neraval the violinist has to give respect of time and Space. Thank you.

A janya raga of Chalanata, Nattai is considered a very auspicious raga and signifies the beginning of any concert. It is a mangala raga, and most compositions in this raga are on Lord Vinayaka, the remover of all obstacles. It is a Ghana raga, and the first of Thyagaraja’s Pancharatnas is in this raga. It is also a Vivadi raga, i.e. some notes are placed at very close intervals, and hence an intoxicating effect is created in Chalanata and Nattai ragas. The Hindustani raga Jog closely resembles Nattai.

I think the elder slips out of the ragams in several places, especially it appears Khamaz in Kambodi alapanai on and often, probably he is too enthusiastic forgetting the swarasthanams. It is better to have a limit at stage of the alapanai so that we do not slip! The youngster sings better.
