As a foreigner, I find the lack of education among many people in the US concerning. It's important to address this gap. There seems to be a deficiency in critical thinking and intellectual engagement.

Continuing your education into adulthood is the key, and the problem with them. If it was formal education, everyone would be affected. That's not what we're seeing. If a person doesn't continue educating themselves throughout life, after their school days are done, then they aren't practicing the critical thinking they learned in school. When you stop practicing, the ability to do the thing that practice makes familiar to you dissipates like the dew on a hot morning.

You need to have the environment and supports in place to support that. Parents who value education. Encouraging your kids to go to the library, watch educational videos etc.
If you are not a confident educated parent, it’s hard to encourage your child.

Eh, we also have a lot of people like that. It's only that they can't get into power, because most European nations have more than two parties. Germany for example has the AfD, which has similar talking points. But they are only polling at 20% and all other parties have said that they will refuse to join a coalition with them. We have abysmal education in some parts of the country. Coupled with unhealthy food and food deserts, and a lifetime of bible belt thumping, they really never had the right conditions to succeed.
