IMPORTANT!!!! Most XS/TX 650 owners of bikes made in 1970-72 DO NOT know they do not have the hardened valve faces and seats, so you must run a Lead substitute in them. These were made before the Oil Embargo of 1973 and designed to run on regular Gasoline with Lead formulated into the fuel to lubricate the valve train,( that is what made the tail pipes burn White). NOT Unleaded. The service manual shows the part numbers starting with the TX650's. 1973 and newer do not need to worry about this problem.
IF YOU DO NOT ADD THE LEAD SUBSTITUTE YOU RUN A HIGH RISK OF BURNING OUT YOUR VALVES!

That's Bull S - - T. I have 48,000 miles on my XS2 and don't have a problem with unleaded gas.
