Jacob is a fantastic pianist. In this particular Duo, he overly dominates. Perhaps the recording balance is slightly off, but overall, I think it would be better for Jacob to lay back when the sax has the lead.
I always appreciate your opinion even when I disagree. Here’s why I disagree. This song is originally a very upbeat, orchestrated song with a huge band, lots of rhythmic and melodic counter melodies, syncopated bass lines etc. Since I am the only rhythm section player in this setting I think if I played less rhythm it wouldn’t have the rhythmic drive and energy that this song requires. Anyway, I am not saying you are wrong as it is completely subjective but I thought I’d share my thinking behind the way I am playing.

Reminds me of one of the Tatum group sessions, especially the one with Benny Carter. Mr Ishikawa is able to focus on his own lines, and not get caught up in Koller’s torrent most of the time.
You should do Chopins Ballade in G minor but a jazz arrangment! That would be an incredible feat and you would probably do an awesome job. I'm sure Chopin would appreciate it as well.

I disagree. In fact the mixing on this recording really brings out the phat tone of this saxophonist. Jacob turns everything to gold.
