We GSBs do malas like this since ages. We call *'Haali'* .. this sort of tying the flowers one after the other to make a long line, is called as *'Haali'* in our language. Specially we use Banana stem fibre as thread for tying the flowers. Even maalaas are done by using banana stem fibre. At many temples on our side, only maalaas or haalees done with banana fibre only are decorated to God/Goddess. Normal cotton thread is not used.
