    I see the vest pocket bowie down there. I ground off the moran handle butt and the top guard and polished it making one of my all time favorite knives. Moran handles are good for choppers but extremely bulky and weird on a medium to small knife. Plus it made the balance so off. With the butt sanded off the balance is now perfect and its 10 times more appealing to the eye. You dont see those vest bowies very often. That bowie blade is damn near perfect imo

    Your video helped me to decide between the two versions of the Fox River. I snagged an EXT-1 in (hold your breath) MagnaCut. ... For a working knife in the back country and wilderness, I always choose canvas micarta, if it's available. I went with green canvas micarta, orange liners, brass pins and lanyard tube. ... It's a wonderful knife. ... Your video gave me the confidence to jump right on the EXT-1s in MagnaCut, when they dropped. ... Thank you Sir.

    I now own that exact Fox River EXT-2 you sold. Just bought it off Tim from the BRK BOYS Facebook group. Figured you might want to know where that knife is now.

    If you could just have one for both bushcrafting/hunting, would you rather have the EXT-2 or the Bravo 1 LT?

      Rice Creek bushcraft Do you have an opinion on bark rivers 3V vs cruwear? I want the EXT-2 but they don’t offer it in cruwear and I’m wondering if I should get the Bravo 1 LT in cruwear or just the EXT-2 in 3V.

    • @shane4176

      @@beeriann good amounts of molybdenum and chromium, plus vanadium carbides for wear resistance. Id go with cruwear is has great edge retention and sufficient toughness along with great stain resistance. Its a very good steel.

    How do you think the Kephart compares to the EXTs?

    • @shane4176
      @shane4176  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like both design very much. Kephart's usually have more of a straight spine. The ext's have more of a graceful downward sweep. I really, really like the ext-1 in design and feel and cutting performance.

    How do you find the impala handles vs wood or synthetic?

    • @shane4176
      @shane4176  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally do not care for them. Not because they are not secure in hand necessarily I just like the feel of synthetics and wood better. They don't just seem to have as good a contour.

    • @shane4176
      @shane4176  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question Mike, I EDC a gunny or a ulb. It's very comparable I would prefer the EXT - 1 over the gunny for a hunting knife. But the EXT - 1 is a little bit big for EDC. So you need both. haha

      Rice Creek bushcraft I have ulb and bravo 1 LT also. now thinking about which to buy ext 1/2 or gunny... I don’t hunt btw. any advice? And do u find bravo 1.5 quite useful for bushcraft or camping ?

    • @shane4176
      @shane4176  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikezhao5928 I would say if you just want to get all around knife and something you can carry on your person easily. Go with the gunny especially if you are not a hunter. And for me the 1.5 is kind of large? I prefer a four to four and a half inch blade an Axe and a saw. Have a lot of large knives but I really don't find them extremely useful.

    • @mikezhao5928
      @mikezhao5928 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shane4176 do you agree with the ULB hype? when compared to gunny, which EDC is better and will these 2 knives' purpose overlap each other? I'm a bushcraft beginner, sometimes feel taking a 1.5 long knife enables me to light chop, wield, and feels more safe in the woods haha. when without axe or saw, and not for hunting, you would take which knife? thanks

    Nice blades! Though I'd be a bit wary batoning with the wood-handled knife...you never know what imperfections might lurk below the surface... G10 or micarta is much better suited for that stress.
