Hes not perfect and he knows yet he exists as his imperfect self among perfect ppl like lan wangji and lan xichen and at the end after guanyin temple his imperfect self is the only one standing tall
He's such a fascinating character, and I adore him!! He's not only suffered so much, but _endured_ all that suffering and still came out on top! A ridiculously-young sect leader who rebuilt a great sect from the ashes, the youngest of three siblings who pressed on alone, an uncle of an orphan who still gave everything he had to Jin Ling with full devotion!!! It's such a harsh character growth for him as he's struggling with his flaws as a kid to bitterly, angrily accepting them in his lonely adulthood
ahh!! this is incredible. i think a lot of fans overlook jiang cheng's complexity and his grudges.. this really gives an idea of what jiang cheng feels and why, and in such a pretty way!! a masterpiece
Bless your kind words!! AND YES he has so many aspects overlooked!!!! He has Reasons for making his choices in youth and really did the best he could in the only way he knew how to love, he didn't mean to help unlock the Bad Ending!! ahhhhhhh I can't wait for the next season so I can do more of him and other characters that need more attention (like Jin Guangyao!!) i love the way you portrayed him here! and the parallels between him and madam yu gave me chills. jiang cheng is such a complex and interesting character that i feel like a lot of the fandom hates on. (with reason of course, but there really isn't anyone who's completely innocent in mdzs)
I love him so much. The novel really didn’t give him justice and whats worse is that the fans forget that Jiang Cheng is just a person too. He’s given the title (forcefully, mind you) at a young age. And if I were him, I’d turn out the way he is too. He needed to have a strong front especially if he’s going to lead a sect. Another thing is that that’s just how Jiang Cheng was raised. He literally didn’t have anyone to rely on (except for his sister sometimes) and it makes me wonder why people are not sympathetic to his story (especially the Asian community)? Because he’s the typical Asian kid with the typical Asian parents and even though my parents aren’t as hard on me as his parents were, I still relate so much to him. His whole (bio) family died save for his infant nephew and his martial brother literally just said “forget it” after 13 or so years looking for closure (or at least that’s how I see it). Tell me why are people not sympathetic over him? I don’t get it please. If your argument is “his attitude bad” well the MC has a bad attitude as well and Hanguang-Jun is petty (I love them don’t get me wrong).
HNNNG Life has just kicked this boy in the head!! And the stomach!! And up the ass!!!! His complicated relationship with his parents (and their messed up dynamic) that never had any real healing or closure, being thrown into his role from a young age and losing the people he relied on as support, the Incredible Trauma of literally everything he went through- I think that the novel does a fair job of showing the whole thing from WWX's point of view and he's a very unreliable narrator (to not even mention literally everything involving LWJ) but Damn Son he got the short end of the stick all the way to the end. I'm still desperate for a reconciliation that never happened and probably never would TT_TT But I do like the line in the novel describing the way both he and WWX had changed over all the years, something like- "Just like the WWX of the past couldn't tell him, the Jiang Cheng of now couldn't speak of this" in reference to when Jiang Cheng was the one who saved WWX's life back then. It's a good acknowledgement of how much is still unsaid and unresolved between them, and how much WWX and the audience might never understand about JC and his reasons. I- really don't get why people hate him, though??? Maybe they're coming from the donghua? The donghua had some- moments. It had a lot of moments, but some of them involved JC being Unreasonably Antagonistic without really acknowledging his reasons. Maybe even the novel because of how much it skimmed over his details, but I always thought the point of the story was that nothing was as it seemed, that every monster was manmade, and revenge was a hollow victory. It did a great job of making me feel for JGY, I'll tell you that, and he did things ten times worse than JC or literally anyone else. It's probably also that bizarre campaign of adaptations to take away WWX's greyscale morality. He was really shown as much more innocently good-intentioned in both the donghua and drama, even going as far as blaming the death of JZX on other people when the novel was like- no, he just killed him. On accident, but that was still his fault. TL;DR: I've... ranted in the comments again... I just want everyone to appreciate these characters and their tragic stories. And bless you for acknowledging petty-ass Hanguang Jun. I love him to pieces _and_ his "you are not qualified to talk to me" attitude.

Thank you for this amazing video showcasing JC! He is my favorite character in MDZS whose story isn't really told till the end of the novel since it was mostly written from reincarnated WWX's POV (he is an unreliable narrator). Honesty I didn't really care for him at the beginning of the novel with how WWX introduced him (angry, cruel, and unempathic), but JC's intervention at the end, getting a glimpse of his POV and his sacrifice, I fell in love with his character cuz it just clicked (WWX doesn't understand JC and it's reflected through the narrative so I really didn't get JC till the end). JC has every right to be angry and he's much more caring than what's on the surface.
Thank you for the comment! And YES, my first run through the story, I didn't care for this boy at all!! But why would you?? I love how the story sets up these characters from WWX's unreliable narration only to come around and smack you in the face with Feelings about them!! Seeing baby!JC and his die-hard love for his family makes going through the story again that much more heart-breaking, especially when you know his reasons better than WWX ever would
This entire AMV gave me shivers!!!! I love Jiang Cheng! He has reasons to be the way that he is, and it’s because of all the things that were thrown his way. When he was younger, he didn’t know how to handle everything. War and Wei Ying leaving for the Wens must have been a lot for him to handle. Then both Jiang Yanli and Wei Ying died even though the three of them were supposed to be together forever… It makes me tear up just thinking about it… A lot of the things that went wrong in their lives weren’t even their faults. They were placed in so many difficult situations, and they did what they felt was right.
THAT'S SUCH A _THING_ ABOUT THIS ENTIRE STORY!!! These characters all did the _very best_ that they could, with the knowledge they had at the time, with the best of their abilities!!! In the ways they reacted so differently to the same events, showcasing their differences in personalities and reactions to pain, yet still retaining some vulnerable part of themselves!!! Like Jiang Cheng!!! And his love for Jin Ling!!!!! Makes me want to scream to the heavens!!!!!!!! His heart isn't gone, it was just broken so many times and he _still loves so fiercely_ despite everything!!!!!!!!! Even when it seems like he's closed himself off to loving anyone because of how many times he's been hurt on his past relationships, you see that's not true even through Wei Wuxian's unreliable narration! Jin Ling is so treasured by him that Jiang Cheng is hunting down his bullies and yelling about murdering anyone who makes him cry, one of his first complaints to Wei Wuxian is _how dare you hurt Jin Ling by saying that_ and at the second siege he tries to give away his most valuable belonging without a second thought to protect him!!! TL;DR: I love Jiang Cheng too... a lot. Thank you for your lovely comment (❁´◡`❁)
Hands down best Jiang Cheng amv ever. This isn't even simply just an amv, this is a whole ass character analysis!! Wei Ying looks so insensitive here and I love it. You really highlight how Madam Yu and Jiang Cheng are alike, not just in temper and power but in how they feel. They both feel castaway by the people they care about, Madam Yu castaway by Uncle Jiang, Jiang Cheng castaway by Wei Ying. The song choice is also so amazingly fitting too. "You're a natural" shows Jiang Cheng's jealousy of Wei Ying's natural talent and how Uncle Jiang clearly favors him over his own son. "Living your life" shows Jiang Cheng thinking that Wei Ying's playfulness means that he doesn't care about all the crimes he's done (killing Jin Zixuan and Yanli-shijie 😢). I said this already but this is the best Jiang Cheng amv hands down ❤️.
I hardly ever like Amv's, but this one truly deserves the Praise, I really loved the parallelism with his mother, I didn't noticed it while watching the donghua myself. The way you putted together the details is praiseworthy. A great Amv for my favourite character. This man deserves the world.

this amv is so good! I've been out of the mdzs loop for a while, the novel left me a mess because I felt so sorry for jc and jl at the end of it that I could only see the story as a tragedy. I remember hating jc in the beginning and thinking nothing would ever make me love him, but in the end, I did. and I judged wwx so hard for never trying to fix things between them, always being so ready to run away. and after finding bashing comments/fics about jc, I've been looking into his point of view much more closely and he's not as appreciated as he should be in this fandom, honestly. jin ling as well. because they're so easy to hate that a lot of people forget that they hurt, too, and at the end of the novel, they were still hurting while the mc's got to just throw away the past and move on. i was not okay with this at all!
This story IS a tragedy and no one can tell me otherwise!! WWX's flaws are really part of what makes this such a beautiful story, and JC's pain makes it that much worse!! I think WWX walking away at the end definitely hurt him, but it was at a point in their relationship where they kept hurting each other and WWX needed to finally let that go, whether JC was able to move on or not. What hurts so much is that he doesn't know if JC was able to finally move on himself!!! Which is sad but understandable because his own mental health and all but _come on_
@@aeraneth late reply, but the thing that really struck me was at the temple when Jin Ling realized wwx was gone and ran outside to look for him, and found his JC. Like, I was already feeling bad for this kid now that we had the full backstory, but that scene absolutely gutted me.

I feel so bad for Jiang Cheng. I know he turned out to be a jerk, but what he went through was so traumatic. I really wished the story ended better for him. In the donghua version, at the end of the final season, I believe he gave Jin Ling a clarity bell that Wei Ying crafted for his first month celebration gift. It was destroyed by Zixun (the mean fattie, not Zixuan who's Jin Ling's father), so I can only assume that Jiang Cheng repaired it, and kept it all those years because he thought Wei Ying murdered them. Although I think as the head of the clan his first priority was probably finding a wife 😂
I am _so excited_ to edit from season three it's not even funny, I literally have songs waiting just for it, _someone please give it to me immediately_ (also thank you for comments, you made my day
Ainda me dói muito pelo Jiang Cheng 😭 Ñ é fácil encarar a perda da família inteira e amigos, atravessar uma guerra e ainda manter a sanidade. Ainda mais que ele já tinha os problemas dele. Tão triste
It's actually from the first episode, when they're doing the opening explaining WWX's death. It was such a pretty style and they never use it again (that I remember)??
Honestly, you can't either blame Wwx or Jc. Because Wwx "did" give his first life and his golden core to Jiang cheng ( because, if he didn't die back then, he thought Jiang cheng would blame him for everything { like shijie's death and the fall of Lotus pier } and it made him guilty. And everyone would kind of hate Jiang cheng for defending him. So i kinda think he killed himself because his own overwhelming guilt. ) And also Jc was too proud (also scared ) to apologize or discuss the things that had happened. ( He takes after Madame yu., ofc what do expect ). So their relationship was never the same again. Tho i do hope that they try to talk it out and mend their relationship so that they could be back to "The twin prides of Yunmeng" , once again.
@Yuina_Tozamaki I love deep insights into JC's character and his reasons!! The thing about MDZS is that WWX's death and its circumstances were always left pretty vague (but to be fair, it's book canon that he barely remembers what happened himself, and it falls into line with his unreliable narrator shtick) and JC and his complicated emotions are equally a mystery to our main character! There's nothing more that I want than some Yunmeng bro reconciliation!!! All I have are fanfics to comfort me (´;ω;)
i want that too >< and I know that from a neutral point of view, we can't blame anyone. but in the end, WWX still has LWJ, while JC had no one. aside from JL, that is, but he can't really rely on JL, either. I guess that's the tragedy of his character. and I'm projecting here so yeah I love WWX but I also hate him. I wish they both (WWX-JC) would pull their head off their asses and make up but. uhuh. it doesn't happen in canon. WWX deserves some jealousy for being the lucky MC flake that he is.

His character is the strongest of them all. He doesnt grieve or mop he only moves forward accepting his faults. Hes human even tho hes suffered tragedy unlike any other.
He has Reasons for making his choices in youth and really did the best he could in the only way he knew how to love, he didn't mean to help unlock the Bad Ending!! ahhhhhhh I can't wait for the next season so I can do more of him and other characters that need more attention (like Jin Guangyao!!)
I just. I just love all these characters so much TT_TT
@@aeraneth definitely need jin guangyao content!! so many characters are overlooked

i love the way you portrayed him here! and the parallels between him and madam yu gave me chills. jiang cheng is such a complex and interesting character that i feel like a lot of the fandom hates on. (with reason of course, but there really isn't anyone who's completely innocent in mdzs)
Thank you for the comment!! I love all these complex characters _and_ their incredible flaws! Except JGS
Lan Xichen is innocent
@@Carlatchang do you think so? Lol. Ok.
Jiang cheng is a fucking god. And it's a fucking fact. I can't see reasons for hate him really. What reasons are you talking about?
@@lologege2788 Why not?
Our boy Jiang Cheng deserves more love 😞 He probably suffered the most, That's what made him heartless :((
I love him so much.
I'm still desperate for a reconciliation that never happened and probably never would TT_TT
But I do like the line in the novel describing the way both he and WWX had changed over all the years, something like- "Just like the WWX of the past couldn't tell him, the Jiang Cheng of now couldn't speak of this" in reference to when Jiang Cheng was the one who saved WWX's life back then.
@@aeraneth this would sound a bit weird . But we're literally talking about them as if they are real life people ....
Can I just go over inside the book already ?
I'll give them a better ending 💀(I live the ending tho) ...just one without misunderstandings
@Victoria Oh wow . I am reading this comment right after I saw someone defend wwx and hate jc ..... 🤦♀️
@Victoria Oh yes . They both sacrificed so fucking much .... and they should definitely reconcile.... but most of the Fandom seems to have different opinions about many side characters , like xue yang, jin guangyao, and jc of course . ...
EXACTLY! The part that hurt me the most is that WWx is back with a f*cking new life and body and he's like "yeah, whatever I don't care about the past anymore" like YOU B*TCH! It was all because of you, you and your arrogance and your damn mouth and now everybody has to just suck it up?? (I love WWX btw, but DAMN! my purple baby deserved better!! MY PURPLE BABY DESERVE BETTER! T_T *cries into the void *
Seeing baby!JC and his die-hard love for his family makes going through the story again that much more heart-breaking, especially when you know his reasons better than WWX ever would
Your comment had everything I wanted to say. A job well done!
Then both Jiang Yanli and Wei Ying died even though the three of them were supposed to be together forever… It makes me tear up just thinking about it…
A lot of the things that went wrong in their lives weren’t even their faults.
Jiang cheng remains my favourite MDZS character no matter what. His only flaw is that he's human.
JIANG CHENG DESERVES THE WORLD!!
HE SURE DESERVES BETTER THAN CANON LEMME TELL YOU **still crying from last episode**
THIS SONG REPRESENTS HIM SO WELL
Thank you!! I thought so too :D
Ahhhh thank you for such a lovely comment!! I thought this song suited him nicely, his point of view deserves more attention! My poor boy QAQ
This is so good it represents exactly y I like Jiang cheng
I'm glad you like it!!
I hardly ever like Amv's, but this one truly deserves the Praise, I really loved the parallelism with his mother, I didn't noticed it while watching the donghua myself. The way you putted together the details is praiseworthy. A great Amv for my favourite character. This man deserves the world.
I love this man So much he doesn't deserve the hate HE DESERVE COMFORT! HE deserve LOVE AND SUPPORT AND EVERYTHING!!
I love Jiang Cheng!
HE DESERVED AND DIDN'T RECEIVE LET US WEEP!!!
Ohhh this is a really great representation of Jiang Cheng's POV and WOW Wei Wuxian does not come out so well!
YES that is what I was going for!! Jiang Cheng is Full Of Rage but he has reasons!! I'll scream about these complex characters until the end of time :D
@@aeraneth jiang cheng deserved better .... he is always left behind .... I won't say what wei ying did was wrong , cuz it wasn't, choosing to save innocents aints wrong . But the way in which he did ? Totally wrong .... 😑 he thought not being in the sect would be safer , but he , if anything increased their problems .... jiang cheng has the right to be angry . I would be too ... and I'm pretty sure if wei ying actually explained to cheng about his plans, jiang cheng then would have actually helped , even in secret . Cuz I've seen that he has a hard time saying no to his brother ..... there was so much misunderstanding and miscommunication in between these two . And at the end, wei ying once again chose to leave ... This time voluntarily... unlike his last life , where he had to protect wens..... whereas jiang cheng was coming to accept the fact that his core wasn't his own ..... and he never actually held any anger towards wei ying for going to the dark path . The only grudge jiang cheng had was that Wie Ying broke his words .... he broke his own twin pride promise ..... there's so much comeplxity man ... 🥲
@@justfloating9787 AHHHH YES!! TALK TO ME ABOUT JIANG CHENG AND HIS ABANDONMENT PROBLEMS!! Talk to me about the levels of miscommunication that weren't ONLY between WWX and LWJ!! Talk to me about how JC was the only one who never blamed WWX for his dark path but (probably) blamed the dark path for his downfall and how his childhood of inadequacy and feeling inferior came rearing up to bite him in the ass!!!!
Bless u for appreciating this boy's tragedy. UwU
@@aeraneth it's just like they say ... as we start to grow up , we start to understand the so called villains ..... I didn't like him at first either ... but the more I started to read into him , the more I realized how different he was from what we thought . Someone needs to give him a hug ..... he's simply lonely. His OST is more than enough explanation. He wanted nothing but a family and he Lost it all..... wei yinh was the only one left yet he chose to leave too . That's something I'll never forgive him for . Like bro that's your brother . And wangji , as devoted as he is , has flaws too . I don't like the way he simply chooses to ignore wei yings mistakes ..... he's his lover and he's supposed to be guiding him to correct his mistakes....he was blinded by his hatred towards jiang cheng and didn't even bother with him . I don't like that .....
The flaws of these characters are So Good, I can't even!! There's so many factors that go into all these character relationships and I love fics that explore Nightmare-In-Laws JC and LWJ!! I know that the story's lack of closure on a lot of issues shows the depth of how real these relationships really felt, how revenge and pain shatter what used to be, and how the wounds between the Yunmeng bros might be too deep to fully heal, but...
oh god I just want my Yunmeng bros to reconcile somehow TT_TT
this amv is so good!
Wow, I love the easy motion of the transitions! Very beautiful! And even though I’m fully Team Wei Wuxian, I wouldn’t mind giving Jiang Cheng a hug every now and then.

Although I think as the head of the clan his first priority was probably finding a wife 😂
this is so amazing wow

Thank you for the lovely comment, I'm glad you at least like the video!
@@lulufirdaus2193 Morally gray asshole!WWX isn't getting acknowledged enough!! I adore his character entirely, but it's canon that even he cringes at some of the ways he's acted before, and thirteen years of death definitely didn't make him a perfect person! Just more chilled out. Someone else commented that JC had the most tragic character of all and, well, _yeah_ . I love this story so much, but it's hardly a happy ending for most everyone else.
