As you may know, TCHIA is a tribute to New Caledonia, its landscapes, fauna, flora, cultures and languages. And was made by only 12 devs, a small team with a small studio ! The VA of the game mixes French and Drehu, a Kanak language spoken (and this is the Wikipedia moment) mainly on the island of Lifou by only 10,000 peoples !
Started playing this morning and it has been such a pleasurable experience so far. I've been excited for this game since the original trailer music had that Studio Ghibli feel to it. I'm so glad Sony put this on PS+ subscription so millions have access to try this game. Loving the music, art style, and interesting interactions with items/mini games.
Wow this sounds and looks absolutely amazing. Exactly what I need right now And the music in this review is downright goosebump material. It’s BEAUTIFUL
Wow, so Wind Waker look and animal inhabiting, BotW exploration, TLoU II guitar, Red Dead treasure maps... and then to really get me they throw in analog cameras and film processing. This game is like everything I love!
It's wonderful that Tchia combines so many elements together-but I think these reminders serve to highlight the superiority of those games rather than Tchia own accomplishments.
It was the leaving me stranded on a google map and shaking photos in photo mode to see them develop that was a no for me. Boomers will live for this. Sue me. 👐🏿
@@jdbruiserTo me it always feels like a cop out to compare it to so many different games instead of just describing things more clearly. After all, every game borrows from others. It's even worse in this case when the game doesn't look at all like Wind Waker and might share an element of TLoU2 and Red Dead, but feel nothing like them so why even bring them up?
Even the review feels like it's been injected with heart warming awesomeness. Really great work bud but also how great does this game look. Buying now!
woweee this looks G R E A T excellent review Boodworth, top to bottom i really *get* the loop - can’t wait to play (the kids are gonna riot over this, days of cozy couch play ahead!)
With the kids, just keep in mind what I mentioned with the story. Some bits do get more violent than you'd expect, but I had to go with the tamest visual example to avoid spoilers. -Bloodworth
@@EasyAllies nah i get it! my lad is 11 and into analogue horror the absolute weirdo, so that grimm fairytale style bent will be fine I reckon, but good to know!
Ah true, I forgot about that. I haven't seen it but I'm guessing there are a couple of small things to edit that could tone it down, but some of that stuff is just the story beats themselves. I think 11 should be all good though. -Bloodworth
I may have missed it in the review, but the game only runs at 30fps on PS5 just FYI for people bothered by that. Might be worth waiting for a 60fps patch
Definitely going to play this game. But I will say I agree about the map not having a point on the map noting where you are and the whole picture thing. It reminds me of Tunic, I really enjoyed the game for the most part, I thought it was pretty clever But the whole obtuse puzzle stuff just seemed pretty ridiculous sometimes. Like this is a video game, how about keep it fun and intriguing and not annoyingly frustrating or unnecessary difficult.
@@EasyAllies OK, I threw this question out in the aether knowing you would be kind & dilligent enought to reply. Doesn't happen on many sites. Cheers blood.
@@EasyAllies yeah, no sweat, just trying to give some feedback about what some of your viewers might want to see or not want to see. Great review nonetheless, thanks.
Take this mechanics and just make a viaana game. Would be great adaptation. But with more funny story. Cant wait to Play it just bought it. Thanks for review
There's a song to greatly extend how long you can stay underwater. Plus you'll want to extend your soul meter and use dolphins / crabs, etc. That's definitely the deepest spot to get to, but not impossible. -Bloodworth
Honestly this game looks like something I’d love. I just wish the characters and animations were a a bit less clunky. It doesn’t seem to match the rest of the game which looks very beautiful. Can you imagine if these developers made the world and gameplay elements while Ember Lab (Kena: Bridge of Spirits) did the characters, animations and cutscenes 😮
Are there a lot of "animals dying for comedy" moments like the crab at the start and the headless chicken? For some reason, that's really not the vibe I expected. I'll still play it, even though I don't really like that stuff, but my gf is a vegetarian and animal lover, and this is probably a deal breaker for her.
They just added a pathetic 60 FPS patch only 1080P LMAO. Sheer incompetence especially for an "indie" company with significant financial backing by Sony.
Playing the intro song bored me to tears 🤦♂️ I was thinking my god when is this going to end square square square square square tchiiiiaaaaaa square square square

Woah 8/10 from Bloodworth is some high praise! Glad to see its charming while also being fun to play.
Love the user name

Great review! I do enjoy Blood's style of writing, both informative but also fun!

This game is just so relaxing to play especially right after a playthrough lf a deep action game its good to play a relaxing game like this after

It actually looks really fun
Lovely review 💛
Cool score, great review.
Great review blood
Looks relaxing!
This is what I was hoping Kena Bridge of Spirits would be like. This on the other hand was exactly what Ive been looking for
What do you mean. Kena Bridge of Spirits was fantastic. One of my favorite PS5 games so far, on par with Hogwarts Legacy in my opinion
Can't wait to play this and chill
Sounds weirdly relaxing, except for the whole kidnapped dad thing!
This game looks absolutely amazing. I knew nothing of it until now. Looking forward to spending hours just free roaming in it 😆👍🏽💯
