I know that Summerslam is considered the second main PPV after Wrestlemania, but I tend to think the Royal Rumble is more important since it usually sets up the "Road to Wrestlemania."
It’s funny because for the first 3 years I always viewed it as the Wrestlemania fall out show PPV version. The main event was usually a carry over from the events of Wrestlemania, and the lower card was filled in with some good matches and feuds that were brought on during the late spring and early summer
Braun or Samoa Joe would be a good idea. They can win the title without pinning Lesnar and if WWE wants Lesnar vs Reigns at WM, they can win the title in January and defend it at WM
Lads, I love that you do these countdown to the main event videos, recapping previous events of the same name like an advent calendar. I don't think you've asked yourselves tho: _what are we going to do this time next year?_
I remember this Summerslam like it was yesterday My Uncle took my younger brother and cousin to that event, I couldn't ho because I was sick but my brother brought back the program with Elizabeth looking overhrt shoulder holding back Hogan and Savage Great memories
Speaking of PPV themes, I cannot be the only one who thought " 'Cause I'm ready to go-oh-oh. Oh-ee-oh-ohhh ohhhh, oh ohhh, Wrestlemania! Oh-oh oh-ohhh, Wrestlemania! Pump it up! Pump it up!" I mean come on... WWE walked right into that one, right?
I actually have a Mandella Effect memory related to this event. It was one of the earliest Wrestling VHS I rented when I first got into Wrestling in 97. I and my brother vividly remember Hogan giving Andre a Body SLam, not just a Scoop slam like at WM3, a full lifted him arms length above his head Bodyslam. And we remember Andre weirdly being in a relaxed position while he was up there, like he was sitting on a couch. But I looked up at the footage recently and this never happened. It's weird.
An 11th fact can also be added: most of the talent from Summer Slam 88 is dead. And also from Summer Slam 89...'97 and most other bug events from those days.
The way Sting tells it is he, Flair and a few others Vince was after were assured by Turner that they would be paid more than WWF could afford. In fact each time Sting's contract was up Turner doubled Vince's offer.
Wow I thought wow it's cool to know all those facts about summerslam but then I realized that I'm a year older than summerslam and got sad, damn I'm getting old. :(
I'd say Royal Rumble is number 2. It starts the road to Wrestlemania and if I'm right, in most years of the 21st century, it had the 2nd highest PPV buy rate.

Halloweenman33 no, the last one that was posted was KOTR 2002. no mention of the KOTR Booker T won or Wade Barrett. So there is at least 2 more that haven't been covered.
I know Jake the Snake got involved in Rick Rude's match, but why didn't they wrestle each other at Summerslam, since they were already feuding? It would have drawn big, but they both had other, less interesting matches. Anybody know why?

One of the Warrior "title wins" before SS was at the Wheeling Civic Center. My best friend was there.

I swear back in the day the arenas for summerslam used to be huge. now it looks like the size of a raw show. Maybe it was the lighting.
Did you Know: The first 5 Summerslams all featured the Intercontinental title changing hands.

Ravashing Rick was in more pay-per-views after SummerSlam 88. He beat Warrior in mania 5 for intercontinental title.

To be fair, boxing and MMA fight quality can be a crapshoot given that they can be done in a matter of seconds
Do them! Do them all!
With the death of Jim Neidhart, each match on this card has at least one dead participant.
