I was there.
When I searched for his name on the souvenir program and saw what he will be performing, my jaw dropped. I braced myself. It’s an extremely personal song for me. Every time I hear it, it hits me hard. The fact that the Maestro chose Stell to do this difficult piece on his birthday concert says a lot. My husband said he was initially nervous for Stell, but I had faith. He sang I think on a key much higher than the original Basil Valdez, which I later found out is the Regine Velasquez key. Everyone was moved by his performance, with the Phil Philharmonic Orchestra accompanying that heavenly voice. Time stood still while I was watching him with immense pride. In the audience there was silence, then thunderous applause, then back to silence. I didnt care for the people behind us, I gave him a standing ovation. As he was leaving the stage, Mr C asked, “Na shock kayo? (Were you shocked?) Ang galing! (So good!)” I guess bec most of the people in the audience did not expect that from a member of a PPop boy band. But I did, wholeheartedly. And yes, I cried. MY song being sang by THE Stell.

It was my third time watching the fan cam of this performance before it finally sink in and bawled. This is huge. He is now being seen for his talent. No more, no less. And Stell honoring Mr C in the end by saying "This night is for you," shows his pure character. Seeing him out there makes me feel I made it also.

The standard that he used to be frustrated with because in the PH this is what is expected on a singer. So we get how hard it was for him to find his voice again. I'm glad he overcame it and found his own style.
I totally agree with you Hurraira! From the guy who was so shy, had zero to less self esteem about his wonderful talents, to this wonderful guy now. I have no words to describe the talent that he has. Add to that the humility that he shows whenever he is being applauded after his/their performance. Is he really an actual person? I have no regrets stanning Stell and the entire SB19. They truly deserve the world stage. 🥹✨👏❣️
I'm a pure-blooded Reginian and this piece is my dream song. When Stell sang this with full orchestra and in Regine's key I was literally crying. I felt a little jealous (hahaha) but I am so proud of him. I am not a Stell bias but when I heard him sang my dream song, I fell in love.
I've watched a better audio where you can really hear Stell's voice (louder than the orchestra) and he is really amazing. Stell deserved that stage and even an international stage. His humility, talents, being extrovert and being thankful for everything and to everyone around him will make Stell go somewhere up there and be recognized not even casuals but also big artists in the industry. This is just the beginning, there's more to come for this young man and we all be prepared for that.

According to those who were in the concert including the artists who performed, Stell’s performance was the highlight of the night. Mr C himself said that Stell’s performance was phenomenal and he said after Stell’s performance that he is relieved that the future of OPM is secure. Great words from our National Artist. I just love Stell so much and super proud of him!!!
This is a two day event and Stell performed on the 1st day but Mr. Ryan Cayabyab still talked about Stell on the second day. He said in an interview after the performance he felt like he was listening to Stell singing in a coliseum with a 100 thousand people in attendance. Another legend Ms. Celeste Legaspi said that the future of the music industry is secured upon hearing Stell perform.
Oh BOY - who would have known and thought of that our SB10 Mahalima STELL was not only an IDOL in the P Pop culture, but he is someone whom the biggest OPM pioneers and icon now acknowledges and as Mr C said 'phenomenal'.

I cried a lot with this performance from all the clips I've seen. This was such a special and proud moment for Stell. There is this saying for Singers, if Mr. C invited and made a singer sing Sometime, Somewhere with him and his swt of orchestra, specially thr leading one in the country, The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. This only means he's giving that singer his blessing. A blessing that a singer really aiming for.
Stell's performance garnerned respect from other artists that night specially the veteran ones. It became the talk even from different social media platforms. Mr. Ryan Cayabyab himself was in awe that he can't stop praising Stell on his every interviews.
And to think Stell felt so nervous, imagine both Regine and Mr. Basil were present that time not to mention Mr. C.

What made Stell nervous this is his solo project, Regine and the original singer is part of the show and singing live with the orchestra with our National Artiat Ryan Cayabyab. It was a stellar performance .
To be personally handpicked to sing and perform this wonderful song, just proves and shows the amount of trust and faith that Mr.C(The Maestro, a legend in Philippine music) has on Stell's talent and capabilities as an amazing singer. The people there was so amazed even Mr.C. because during rehearsals, Stell will end the song with the same note but when he performed that day, he sang the end a note higher and gave Mr.C his awe moment coz he did not expect Stell will sing in a different range at the end. Stell is exceptional and we are lucky to be part of his journey.

The fan cam is from Cacai Bautista a theater actress and comedian. She also look up.to Regine she could belt on her own way too. She is also a fan of Stell ever since. The first time she saw him before, she is like any fan, got star struck can't even talk to him when she is known to be talkative.

I maybe wrong, but I sometimes also can't help to think that Stell isn't yet really that completely confident of himself, that's why he isn't that confident to do his own solo. (Aside from letting his group and brothers shine before him). I feel like he's still having a little doubt of himself and still thinks of what people might say about him. (Which is understandable because he's been a victim of bullying before and I think he still have a bit of trauma) If he only knew how GREAT he is, he still not aware how BIG he'll become when he'll finally spread his own golden wings ✨
I think this, too. It hurts me so much to think he might not be confident enough to release a solo. We know he put up with a lot of nonsense in previous years & unfortunately, because he is so great- he will always have ppl who will hate on him out of jealousy. He does have much thicker skin nowadays too.

Doesn't this song remind you of Somewhere in Time? Amazing how this song remains majestic as it transcends three generations. Maestro C is extremely picky as to who can perform that song with him and I am beyond proud that Stell's remarkable talent is finally recognized and applauded by OPM elites.
You should watch his Rappler interview where he talked about his preparation for this performance! Also a US based vocal coach/reactor who is an A’tin was so inspired by SB19, wrote a song specifically for Stell. I hope he sees it and actually sing it! I mean, so much love and support for Stell! ❤
Though Stell would fit in any Broadway musical, I do hope that whenever he releases his own music, it would be more on Funk genre, like Bruno Mars. That style, together with dancing, would suit him to a T.

There is a short Stell interview where he talked about how he prepared so much for this performance to the point of him choosing to be non chalant during their Pagtatag Finale concert rehearsals. This song has been in my mind since I heard Stell sing it. I know this song from way back and at that time it was one of my favorites. I‘so glad you could also enjoy this song, with all the emotions and hope that it brings. And Stell did justice to the song. He has been receiving high praises from people in the Philippine music industry. I‘m still waiting of course for his single and for his eventual Broadway or West End debut!

Just want to share one more fact: This famous performance by Regine Velasquez was actually at Mr. C's 50th birthday concert in 2004 (when she was 33). Thus, for Stell to now be handpicked by Mr. C to sing this same song 20 years later at Mr. C's 70th birthday concert -- indicates a continuity, a handing of the torch to Stell. It's a big deal, MASSIVE shoes to fill, the great honor -- and the considerable pressure -- Stell must have felt to be asked to sing this by the composer himself, a beloved National Artist for Music. But our Stell showed them who he is, magnificently and unforgettably and captivatingly, how he deserves and belongs to be among these music legends! The highest compliment was for Mr. C (quoting Celeste Legaspi, a musical icon herself, who co-produced the concert) to say after Stell's performance that "the future of Filipino music is secure." All of us who've watched Stell and rooted for him on his journey so far are just over the moon for him! 🙃
P.S. And now, the American singer and songwriter Juliet Lyons, who is herself multi-awarded, has just revealed that she's written a song for Stell. (My guess is that its title will be "Count on Me".) It would be any composer's dream to write for someone who has enormous talent like Stell. Since Juliet has been a true supporter of Stell and SB19 (she was the voting member of the Grammies academy that submitted SB19's entries for nomination), I pray that their collaboration happens. 🙏 Mr. Stellvester Ajero has unlocked a new level! 🚀
