►Lyrics:
This is a ravenous love
You get what you give in
But is it ever enough
I feel the pressure collapse
Out of breath
And out of time
Out of the one thing
You worked your whole life for
I gave everything to the night
Gave everything for the song
When I lost myself to learn
Everyday I am reborn
Separate my heart
Tear apart the flesh
Devastate and subjugate myself to an awakening
Perpetual
Terminal

We must protect this band at all costs.
I feel like they can very much protect themselves
@@execute92we all can protect ourselves 😂
You might like Dark Tranquillity - Damange Done (2002)
They are playing in the catacombs of the castle safely guarded from the battle this poor maiden is fighting
Estoy de acuerdo!!
So hyped!!! We are ready!!!!
Honestly one of the best songs you've ever made and a top 3 song of the year
You've guys came back with a vengeance yo yeehaw!
Cannot wait to see yall in Tucson,AZ on the 26th!
LFG
We all are!!!! 🙂
One of the most underrated/underappreciated metal bands.
since longer than a decade
Facts just seen them and they fucking 🤘🏿
i had just spoken those exact words to myself
Criminally under-rated their entire careers
Check out thy darkened shade
The fact they dropped this album in 2024 is insane. The evolution of this band in incredible.
I love Darkest Hour, they were fronting for As I Lay Dying 15-18 years ago or something when I watched them perform live in Stockholm Sweden.
I had not heard much from them before that gig but I remember to this day clearly when they started with that "With a thousand words to say but one" with that long intro that got the crowd hyped up and wild before their chaos riffing started and everybody was jumping around haha, really good stuff =)
Since I am a guitarist myself I really enjoy such guitar heavy/focused metal like Darkest Hour plays. They have such amazing riffs and melodies on their guitars that the rest of the music seems to be centered around, I just love it =)
They've hit a new stride
This band is criminally underrated. Been listening to them since the mid 2000s.
I didn't find them until Undoing Ruin..absolutely banger, play-all-the-way through album. Of course had to go back and get So Sedated, So Secure. Back when CDs were the top music source.
I got super into sadist nation in 03 and then forgot about them completely, this is sick!
Yeah, seriously. Like hours listened I think they have it for me and that's not intentional. It just happens. Like I just jumped on this DH train on TH-cam to hear Terra Solaris again cause it was stuck in my head. The instrumental from, fuck a decade plus ago, was stuck in my head haha.
@@sixhundred3score6 Just sent an old bandmate their latest "Perpetual Terminal" since TH-cam isn't exactly a social network, and told him to listen to it 3 times cause he will miss it hehe. I was also early 20s when I discovered them, but it still hits...
Deliver us was the soundtrack of my senior year in HS.
Give this band your money now.
cookie cutter metal
the riffs are cool I give them that but they should get a better frontman
@@obtuseboiWhat do you mean?
I can’t believe after so many years you guys still have it man. I’ve been listening to you guys since I was eight. I’m now 29 years old. Thanks for always making great music🤘
I’ve been listening to this song on repeat for days
EXACTLY
Almost 30 years and still putting out music that pushes the genre forward. Unreal. This rules
Lmao, i love Darkest Hour, but how does this push the genre forward, like at all.
I love DH and I love this song bc it is 100% DH recipe they’ve been using since the early 2000’s.
@@wowno5763 To be clear, I’m talking about the track, not necessarily the video.
The production on this track is a benchmark, John’s pitched vocals continue to be the best example of the blended styles of melodic DM and hardcore, Nico’s modern embellishments in the solo, and beyond that - the callback to highly illustrative artwork for the album all stick out to me as being very positive momentum for metalcore. Maybe not at face value, but they are doing all of the important things right imo
@@CHRlSBLAlN it's still a sound that has been done for years. There's nothing new here. I guess it's better than going backwards but there's nothing in this song that pushes anything forward. It's just riding the momentum . They've got the recipe for their sound on lock, but we've all heard this before.
@@OfADemon I’m not dying on this hill lol “pushes it in the direction I like” is probably a better way to word it. The modern production touches is what I’m focusing on, not songwriting. That formula has been perfected and they’re right not to break it
This has pre 2010s metal written all over it...a period when these guys were one of the alphas on the scene
I think these guys are at their best when they do this style of Metalcore/Melodeath.
Thank god this band still making Metalcore with that melodeath touch 🙏👌🔥
so why do you call it metalcore in the first place, before u call them melodeath?
anyway.. it's just darkest hour. POINT
dude I know! I’m so glad they haven’t sold out to become some alternative metal band like every band does nowadays. I hate that shit
METALCORE!???
Sounds like metalcore to me. Not to mention wiki and all over the internet describes them that way. Plus they came out during the rise of metalcore and toured with metalcore bands. 🤷♂️
most underrated band on planet Earth. This band is above the grades.
This band deserves more views
Yeahhhh old metalcore comeback
No other band in existence does melodic riffing the way Darkest Hour does!! Welcome back!
неправда вот.
Agree 100%!
Primordial
The haunted...
You must not know about Melodic Death Metal and Melodic Black Metal. Dissection is king. DH are heavily influenced by In Flames and Dark Tranquility.
This songs feels as if it were off of the deliver us album. So glad my favorite band is still making music to this day. Been with you guys since mark of the Judas. Keep it up guys! Still miss Ryan Perrish and Kris Norris.
It's hard for me to remember all the members and their impact on the sound, did either of those two have a significant impact on the sound of an album? I've been a fan since 2003 and have loved many many albums of theirs it would be cool to know more about what made them special.
@@DweezlePeePants They are the original members. The first couple albums sound way different. Hidden hands of a saddest nation and Mark of the Judas were my favorite.
Goddamn, Deliver Us blew my fucking mind. Loving this new track! 🤘
@@gameaddict6969Norris isnt an original member.
@@gameaddict6969Mike and John are the only original members of DH
John Henry is unreal. His voice has been killer for so many years!!!
Holy shit they’re back.
It's amazing how a band can evolve with each album and still maintain the integrity of their sound.
I've loved this band for 20 years and they have NEVER disappointed me.
Lol, i love DH, but they certainly have not "evolved with each album," and this song is right back to their classic sound, theres no evolution here.
@@wowno5763I think they tried evolving and it just failed so they went back because the self titled album is pretty different but also pretty shit
They evolved a shit ton with their self titled. I wish they would do more in that style!@@wowno5763
dude, the self titled is fucking awesome@@Shikigamifuneral758
Absolute kings. You deserve so much more from this world.
It's like The Human Romance went back and hung out with Undoing Ruin. I love it!
Incredible song. The guitars briefly introducing the distorted outro riff at the end of the first chorus is a brilliant idea. I wish more bands would put that much effort into their songwriting.
it has the Eternal Return vibes, and I am totally here for it.
I hope the new stuff is as good as Bear Hunting USA was
Iykyk
I thought it was polar bear hunting USA.
@@gameaddict6969 you're both right, both exist
@@kylemac6547 the first time i listened to that album i thought i was hallucinating when those two played for like 8 min lmfao
Rub a dub dub baby.
The solo into acoustic was amazing
they still have the best riffs in the metalcore realm
To be fair to you, I'm honestly not trying to troll you for your comment, but just create conversation. When I listen to Darkest Hour, I really don't hear them as a metalcore band. I've always found it difficult to put a label on their sound. It doesn't sound like metalcore to me. The riffs have an At The Gates kind of flavor, but the overall sound is not quite Melodic Death Metal. It's definitely not your traditional Death Metal sound. It's just a good mixture of different genres and styles that come together into one cohesive sound. Most bands that mix different styles sound gimmicky, in my opinion, but Darkest Hour truly pulls it off. That's what makes them special, in my opinion. No tired breakdowns, no trends. Just fast, melodic riffing, excellent guitar solos, a unique vocalist that is hard to label, and a truly unique groove. I've always loved Darkest Hour. They're great.
@@bradleywhitaker6936 I can only agree and want to add that slaughter of the souls is the cookbook for every metalcore riff out there. And darkest hour were definitely one of the first to include those gothenburgian riffs into their sound
@@bradleywhitaker6936 They're definitely a melodic metalcore band. The problem is there are a lot of sounds that fit the description of metalcore. That said, there are definitely elements of metalcore here.
Sylosis riffs shit all over any DH riffs.
they are not metalcore band, just melodic metal, or you can even say modern melodeath, learn about genres ffs
I'm so stoked for this. All 9 albums leading up to this one are stellar. I don't think this band is capable of making bad music.
Their self titled album kinda sucked, but yeah, other than that, not one bad song in their discography.
@@wowno5763Self-titled was fine for me. I expected far worse considering they were on Sumerian at the time and they were pushing djent *really hard* back then. I expected a complete change in sound. The Human Romance is the "worst" for me. Sounded super watered-down and formulaic in comparison to their other records. I put worst in parentheses because it's still an okay record, just not one I go back to a lot.
The self-titled album was a swing at mainstream. And thankfully they struck out.
Already available on Spotify in South Africa. Amazing song. The best thing they have done since Deliver Us for me. Can't wait for the album
Aweh!
I will never forget when they played here!
awe my fellow darkest hour fans from SA
Deliver us is my favorite this is epic!
South African living in England. I saw them at the beginning of 2020 in London and it was the greatest moment of my life.
I love this song (sounds like In Flames in their best times) and somewhere I got their t-shirt from 2003 european tour
20 years of listening to these guys and they still hit just as hard as they ever have \m/
HELL YEAH!!!!
Anyone else catch a mid 2000s in Flames vibe off this?
Definitely hear it in the guitar riffs 🤘🏽
My goosebumps have goosebumps on their goosebumps
Literally counting down the hours, the world was a completely different place the last time new music dropped, can’t wait to see what 7 years has done for these guys
no amount of effort could suit a consumer that would like everything right away.
@@righttobearwalls good thing he was just sharing his excitement for new music and not saying he already liked the song then
I remember when "Demons" was on Guitar Hero 5 in 2009, and I've been hooked and listening ever since.
How was the world a different place?
The fact this only has 31K views as of now makes me lose all hope for humanity....
Beauty and the beast
Loved darkest hour for the past 10 years.
Lesss gooooooo
Awesome, finally
Such an underrated band. Your guy's sound is pretty unique and no one really sounds like you guys in the metalcore genre.
DARKEST HOUR IS BAAAAACK 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
My most awaited album 2024! Thanks for everything and much love.
I am absolutely stunned and stoked to find out y'all are still around! The 10 seconds or so of Sound the Surrender in a commercial for some mix-tape style cd set used to haunt me in college in like 2004 😅. I lost track of a lot of the bands I listened to around 2015, and it's awesome to see how many are still around now (and I have an entirely new album to find it looks, which is even better!)
Darkest hour is always going to be my jam.. Kris paved the best
Darkest hour still at it… criminally underrated in my book.
Great song. The chorus gives me an Undoing Ruin vibe, the solo/sweeps feel like The Eternal Return-esque, and the rest of the song feels like something from Deliver Us. A cool mix
I wish even more people talked about yall. Yall have been my favorite band since 2010 when I was 12 yrs old I'm 25 now and finding out yall are dropping yet another masterpiece upon us is amazing. Keep rocking in the free world.
Ugh you made me feel my age hahaha, I've been a fan since I was 12 as well, but that was in 2001!
@@hersheypants731 Metal knows no age, you were 12, I graduated, We all cranked DH to 11 and wished for 12.
listening on Spotify. track is great. reminds me of "Deliver Us" era stuff
It's so good! It's very reminiscent of the Deliver Us - Eternal Return - Human Romance era which is definitely not a bad thing. God damnit I love this band so much
What a great gift for the holidays!
I can not wait for this album. This song is a absolute banger and I'm expecting the rest of the album to be just as amazing. One of the few bands I can listen to their entire discography over and over. Reason they have been one of my favorite bands for almost 20 years.
Completely Agree!
Darkest Hour has been with me since I was a kid and through my own darkest hours and it it will be with me until the day I leave this world, Darkest Hour is forever
Being here right now is like waiting for a Christmas present when you already know where the packaging is hidden 😄
Darkest Hour is core memory ! feels like 2004 all over again
Darkest Hour, Unearth and Light This City will always find a space in my Heart.
I get Annihilator vibes with those Acoustic pieces.
That hook!!! Earworm for days
All other bands eventually die and fall away, but darkest hour lives on. Aways incredible never a bad album
This is my first time hearing this band but the passion in the comments is incredible. Going to listen to a lot of the discography when I wake up sober
You're in for a good time.
Try Deliver Us and the Self Titled album first
@@MimmiAmelia and Undoing Ruin
Great Horns of Valhalla!!! This Song Rules!!!! DH is BACK!!!!!
Holy shit i can’t waiting
Kings of melodic riffing..welcome back! 🔥
This is exactly what I needed right at this moment.
John Henry is like fine wine, getting better with age. I hope he brings clean singing back full force on the new album cause his cleans are no cookie cutter bullshit.
I already bought tickets for Black Friday !!!!!
Orbin is flawless in every single aspect of his playing. He’s come so far and it’s criminal if he’s not recognized as one of the best drummers alive today.
Pretty sure this song/album is gonna be my top played of 2024 already. DARKEST HOUR ARE BACK!
I love Darkest Hour. Summer Slaughter 08 or 09 one or the other. Killer band!!!
Today was a pretty shitty day, but now it has redeemed itself. Live in lockdown can hold us over.
Strong song Darkest Hour. ❤

Man you guys are as good as ever. Still one of my fav bands.
Waited too long for this!
This rules! Darkest hour forever and always.
Whenever I listen to DH, I can feel the despair, rage, hatred and love coming into my ears. Keep doing what you're doing boys.
This reminds me way more of the Darkest Hour album which I still consider the best album to ever have been released. I'm beyond hyped for this. Lets gooooo!
Estoy demasiado emocionado
New Darkest Hour?Thank you Brothers.Metal till the grave.
Wow! As good as ever! The signature DH sound. I love bands that don't change their sound, but just makes it better.
Well, im convinced...
They still got "it". Also, sounds like some good ol DH
Holy.
Shit.
Holy holy holy... Please be Undoing Ruin tier. No word of a lie you guys are THE best band.
Oh yes they are!
Oh man, this is fantastic. This album is going to rule!!
Darkest Hour so good
I absolutely love the old scandinavian sound..amazing song!
