Your solo/tramily dichotomy can create or remove tension depending on your perspective, it's all in the personal balance each individual prefers. I generally hike and backpack solo, but meet many people along the trail and often camp within eyesight of others, which is a good balance for me. When i do hike in a group it's usually slower and with a specific purpose (trail maintenance/building, teaching Leave No Trace or backpacking technique, on specific assignment from the USFS or BLM or other land manager, close friends or family fun), either way it's some variation of HYOH just as you describe. Boujee eating before camp is a solid technique (advanced LNT) for camping in bear country. This practice keeps the most attractive food smell out of camp and makes camp setup/tear-down faster because it's just making a sleeping spot (I usually eat cold breakfast while hiking out of camp, maybe hear something at 2nd breakfast).
Love that Adele song. Thanks for singing it. That incredible voice of course matches all of your incredibly amazing talents! You're awesome! You are my fav! Keep those there River Crossings as they come! Be safe, warm, and dry!!! Beep...Beep!!! - Shybee
19.1 miles in that terrain at that time of the year with all of the runoff is some serious mileage. It’s likely not on your list of ambitions in life but you really could be a standup comedian who dances and sings. You have a very good voice! Nice job and good luck 🍀.
Lovely voice and a great song. Those rivers look beautiful but I'm sure they get old getting wet all the time. You are amazing, keep up the good work nd HIke~~On~~>
Love the song! LOL at having Kim do the Birdcall. River Crossin kinda day! ;p Hike your own hike! ;) ;) Everything else will fall into place. Great day and great miles for the Sierras. Be safe and happy Trails!
Thank you for your singing. If you are feeling some more songs, please let them flow; I'd like to hear them, if you want to... I'm so glad to see you safe and everything. I hear you about the trail being kinda hard, interesting. Please take care.
Afternoon, Julianne. Gosh, the views today were absolutely awesome. Loved the water crossings. Of course, it wasn't me getting my feet cold and wet. I just love rushing water sights and sounds. Hope all of you got back together again at the end of the day. Ya'll take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.
I, as always, enjoyed you singing and out bit of trail talk. It is great for all of you to, when there is no immediate danger, to hike alone. What a nice break, and I think everyone is good with that. The river crossing! I hope your shoes, socks and feet dried out.
As challenging as the snow over Piute Pass was, the actual JMT/PCT over Muir Pass would be about double the snow coverage, typically. The snow lingers longer in that area. I remember traversing 3' deep snow cups on the south side of the pass one Labor Day weekend 😀 I've done the North Lake/South Lake semi-loop 3 or 4 times, but never get tired of the views 🙂
This is the first of your videos I've watched. Very interesting. I've done some backpacking like that but I can only ride inside the camera these days. What spectacular scenery! Thanks for the experience!
Dealing with the Stuff Formerly Known as Snow looks very difficult. Some scary crossings. What a gorgeous mountain range - granite delivers the goods again. Burn crossin!
Bit of trivia for everyone. North Lake was used as the background photo for Apple’s macOS Sierra. I’ve tried several times to take the same photo there, and I know where the camera was set up but I couldn’t get the colors right.
Glad you sang! I love your voice.. beautiful day.. I'm shocked at all the raging water actually..geeze. you're amazingly brave.. also mentally strain causes tiredness..I cant phantom the challenge..blessings and safe trails 🙏
First off your singing was amazing! You have a beautiful voice. I noticed the PCT has the most dangerous river crossings that I have seen watching hikers. Stay safe .😊
Hey Roadrunner, love your hiking videos. I watch them everyday. I would like to encourage you to sing more. Your pitch is really good and your tone is good as well. You have the potential to really develop that into something real special. So as a fellow musician i encourage you to keep it up and persue it if that is one of your passions. You have an awesome personality as well. I have several that i watch hike and you are top of my list on the pct. Stay safe and stay positive.
Bravo on the singing! Loved it! Just wondering what Boujee is carrying in that Mary Poppins bag on his back. He looks like he might fall over sideways ;) loving the both of your journeys.
Julieanne had a river crossing eieio, with splash splash here and a splash splash there… :) As strong as the current was running I cannot imagine getting across any later in year like August.
2:20 Yes "say a lot". Especially, of interest to us "non"-thru hikers is the subject of AT vs. PCT. So much hiking salespeople(Dixie, Darwin, Jupiter, Becker...etc.) are too worried about advertisement money and social correctness to take a real stance. Typical statement like "...oh yea, AT is shorter in mileage but the uphills are harder" or "PCT is horse graded so it's easier". Yeah, right a "gradual" switchback at 8,000-10,000ft elevation with bear can & 7 days food is way tougher than a little stairclimb on the AT at sea level. Also, you can't compare Mt.Katadeen vs. San Jacinto, Whitney,..etc. Anyways, I know RR will be fair and analytical about this subject.
I would have joined you in singing if I was with you on trail (but choose a different song :P). I adore the fact you feel the freedom to do so. 1. You are tired since it can be tiring going at it every day in the sierras. Maybe take a zero once you reach the Mammoth road. 2. What you felt when ascending Mather pass the other day, is exactly what you get when you hike in a tramily. You mostly just follow others and do not develop independence. I'm happy you decided to take a leap forward and do it solo. I think it is an important mental lesson. I encourage you to continue solo for a longer period. It will teach you a lot about yourself. 3. These are creeks, not rivers. :) It's snow melt season. 15-20 a day seems like a normal day. 4. I'm never really sure if when you "complain" about slushy snow and creeks, you actually are having a (bad) hard time, or you are just venting. If it's the later then we all need that occassionally. Too much of it though, will start getting you in a state of mind that you are fed up with it. Not a good place to be. 5. Give yourself the chance to rest mentaly if you need it. A lot of people that finish the sierras break and quit the trail because they just overcame a very big emotional high and obstacle (that they were also intimidated by it), just to realize they are not even half way through the PCT. It's a long trail..... Keep your mental strength up. Don't overthink the snow and creeks. It's part of a wilderness trail. It is by choice you are there. Happy to see you happy!🥰
I know, right! I know that in areas designated as wilderness, there are not supposed to be any blazes, signs, or any other man made thing. In the woods the trail is usually obvious, but in some of the places she’s passed that are nothing but rock, it’s like wtf!
@@tomt9543 There are rock cairns and snow poles everywhere above treeline and the path is mostly cleared of big rocks almost all the way to the top of the passes. This is a well travelled area. There is nothing confusing or technical here.
I enjoyed your singing! 😊 How sweet! It fits right in with the scenery, how can you not want to sing with all that around you? Outside of the intense challenges of having such an adventure, your view is like living inside a post card!!! Sing on sweet Roadrunner!
A lot less snow for Lil'Chap than for RR. It was still quite dangerous at the time when she went, so her and her Tramily decided to pass on it for safety reasons. They plan to do the JMT as a Tramily after this hike. The snow melt changes each day. RR is in ALOT better shape than Lil'Chap is.
Great voice. My legs are acting just thinking about all those river crossings and how cold that water has to be!
Love the singing and the woods is the best spot for being free with it! ❤
Beautiful views today. You looked really happy hiking today. You are doing great!
"Songbird" is the name I would call you on trail. And, yes, you are definitely a Roadrunner! Thanks for sharing your journey.
What a beautiful singing voice! 🎶
Singing and hiking!!!!! What a talent!!!! You should do this more often!!
I like the fact you are okay hiking with the group or solo
Multi talented.. sings, dances, hikes 🎉❤
And funny.
You are such a good singer.
Beautiful voice and song!!

Love, love, love your singing and how you took us down the trail with a song!!! You have a beautiful voice!
Sing as often as you’d like. It is so fun. It comes naturally to you and you do it so well.
…ich komme über die Landschaften nicht hinweg, einfach nur fantastisch 😮

Hello Roadrunner ! Iiked your singing! You have a nice voice! Your PCTs Julie Andrews !😂
You have wonderful voice. American Idols in future??
I continue to be impressed with your endurance and ability! Hike on!!!

I can't get over how beautiful it is where you are. Lovely singing voice!
It really is beautiful
River crossing, River crossing, River crossing, River crossing. River crossing…😂😂😂😂. Good job and happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️

I would say so . . . 19 miles with a pass, snow and a pile of river crossings is a hard day and a late start to boot.
Singing was cool. I do that when no one is around though.
Your videos rock too
This is the first of your videos I've watched. Very interesting. I've done some backpacking like that but I can only ride inside the camera these days. What spectacular scenery! Thanks for the experience!
Love your voice 🎤. Keep them coming. Thank you
You have a beautiful voice..
Your singing is awesome 👏🏻 ❤
Damn girl… You got some pipes! Well done
Dealing with the Stuff Formerly Known as Snow looks very difficult. Some scary crossings. What a gorgeous mountain range - granite delivers the goods again. Burn crossin!
Nice chops!
How do I buy you a beer?
You have a gorgeous voice my friend! Thanks for sharing it!
You have a beautiful voice! It was a river crossin fest! So many of them, wow! That lake in the beginning of the video was gorgeous!
Your friends and family should be very proud of you, you stay true to commitments mentally and physically.
Whoa! Girl can sing…and while hiking!

I’m typing up a singing contract right now! Be looking for it at the next “ that there river crossing” love your videos😂
Way to go!! Lots of challenges thisxday
Definetly getting your share of river crossings this trail!
I love your singing!

Keep on singing and keep on 🥾🥾👏👏
I’m worn out just sitting at the table watching today’s hike! I just hope I can get my shoes dried out before tomorrow! Hike your hike!
Pct just seems too cold 🥶🥶❄️ you guys are troopers
For me, the AT seems to wet ⛈️
@@michel.h_cf99I agree with both of you which is why I think I can only be a section hiker. I’m a fair weather fan.
Beautiful video
... Going strong RR .. Stay Safe...
The look on your face around 10:30 before that white water river crossing said it all.
It looked a little like Vermont at the start of the hike today. Lots of runoff from them there mountains. Beautiful day. Happy trails..

Bravo on the singing! Loved it! Just wondering what Boujee is carrying in that Mary Poppins bag on his back. He looks like he might fall over sideways ;) loving the both of your journeys.
Great song choice, thanks and safe trekking!
Roadrunner wants to hike with Boujee, LETS GO!
Nice voice...

Are you satisfied with your seal skin socks?
Don’t you get blisters when your shoes get wet? I mean, they’re always wet.
I see a lot of snow and rocks. Where's the trail?
Hidden ….. often

Tryout for American idol!!
Sure is an awful lot of water in a hurry to get somewhere!
Honestly I don't know how you find the your way around the trail.

How you doin
(Legit post - Jasmine and Jason?)
Boss lady and her husband, TH-cam are 2 days behind
1 day (RR had Bishop Pass yesterday)
If you’re roped on a steep ice slope you can be belayed. Just sayin!!
I enjoyed your singing! 😊 How sweet! It fits right in with the scenery, how can you not want to sing with all that around you? Outside of the intense challenges of having such an adventure, your view is like living inside a post card!!!
Sing on sweet Roadrunner!
Sucks that you didn’t do mount whitney even little chap did it and he looks way more out of shape then you do.

I understand why Mama & little Bear ended their A/T hike. I know they are friends of yours...
Family I think…
I’m still trying to understand, honestly.
5:04 😳 WOW! I have heard you sing bits and pieces since you started the PCT. You got talent girl! Might need a new trail name like Springer Singer!
New trail name! Karaoke
Hi! Why so you walk alone? Tramily dissolving??😮
It's absolutely normal to walk alone sometimes and then see each other for lunch or @ camp in the evening.
You can sing “Jesus loves me, this I know.”
