    Do you think that just removing the panel on the driver side by the gas pedal and then unscrewing the two screws/bolts and lifting that panel up would be possible without taking the rest of the front panel apart?

    • @559powerscape
      @559powerscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you can, by accessing the driver side panel. Give it a try 😉

      @@SeniorCat- I was able to, but it was tricky. Positioning and finger dexterity are key. Otherwise I recommend taking off the whole front panel

      @@benjiroberts4434 Actually a 2015, not sure why I said year newer. It's a year older than the car in the video. If you are fixing your vehicle like this I strongly recommend putting some electrical tape on the connector. It has been 4 months since I fixed it and the problem started back up again last week so I had to tear apart the center console all over again to reach this connector.

    • @blahasdf2
      @blahasdf2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @laramiereed3611
      @laramiereed3611 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@blahasdf2 Yes, but I recommend taping the connector with some electrical tape. When I fixed it the first time, it lasted for about 6 months and then started coming loose again. When I get the time to do it all over again, I will be taping it to make for certain that it isn't going to wiggle out. The only problem is that there isn't much room for movement in there so it will be slightly more difficult than just pushing the connector back together.

    I got a Nissan with this issue. Considering leaving it alone as this may be the best anti-theft device there is :) Oh and a BIC pen with the outside tube pulled off fits perfectly in that override. Not looking forward to having to do this fix, but thank you for providing a great video on the issue. Gonna try the driver side panel access trick.

      Daniel, exactly what did you mean by _"a BIC pen with the outside tube pulled off"?_ DId you use the outside of the pen or the inside...? (if the "inside", what part of the inside? There is the ink tube and the ball point.)
      My 2005 Nissan Sentra has done the same thing and my old age and health will not let me get into these places. Thanks!

    • @CruentusDK1
      @CruentusDK1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RonRay Inside, but the ink end sticking into the override is sealed so no ink drips down in. However, yes it is possible that if I broke off the pen, that something COULD happen.

    • @CruentusDK1
      @CruentusDK1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can also confirm that I took my issue to the dealership, and they quoted about 1k plus no certainty as to when it would get done since the console is "back-ordered". Guess the pen is going to be long term.

    I was looking at the beginning of your video for tips on taking off the console, got it all apart and after inspecting everything and focusing on the solenoid, I then pushed on the same plug you did and it started working. I was skeptical it would continue working because it's a little bit of work to take everything apart. I finished watching the video and see you found the same thing I did so I'm going to put it back together and cross my fingers. At least if I have to do it again it will take about half the time since I've done it before. The bright side is many others say your fix helped them too, I just wonder how long it lasts, guess I'll find out. BTW, my clear plastic piece on top of shifter was kind of cloudy, I could clean it and it was fine for a few seconds until it dried. I took some toothpaste and a tshirt cotton rag and cleaned it up with the toothpaste, it kind of works on plastic like compound or wax does on paint and doesn't scratch it. It looks brand new now. Thanks for your video, after all the screws and figuring stuff out, making a video would be a pain in the A and time consuming so we appreciate your effort.

    I wonder if that connector wasn't installed correctly at the plant. If it has been only partially plugged in such would be something that wouldn't likely be caught in quality control services because it would have been hidden by the center console having hidden it.

I had this problem as well and it turns out the price that is supposed to move when the brake is depressed was not completely snapped into the side of the console. You should try that first. All you have to do is push the back of it towards the driver side.
