Very disappointed there wasn't more of Material Girl in this "mash-up." I understand this is a cover from Moulin Rouge but I didn't know that when I started listening, and not to mention Material Girl is one of my (many) favorite Madonna songs. Would've been nice if Glee had added more Madonna to it and made it their own. Boys win this mash-up competition imho. =(

This song it's called "Sparkling Diamonds" from "Moulin Rouge", but in the episode they need a mashup, so they called "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend / Material Girl"
This sounds like something straight out of La La Land
Diamond's is a confusing song. It's saying that a "kiss" may not help pay for your house or pets, etc., but is implying that diamond's can do what love can't. I'm sure a boyfriend/girlfriend would be willing to help you financially if the relationship is healthy and moving in a good direction (e.g. one of the members of the relationship ISN'T obsessing over gemstones).
I think Ali Stroker realized an excellent work with this song on The Glee Project. She would do Popular again, for the official show, if someday she came back on glee. I love her character and the song is just perfect to Betty.
