The Importance of Intelligence to National Security | 2014

Michael Morell served as deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from May 2010 until June 2013.Morell has served as director for intelligence at the CIA, executive director at the CIA, and deputy director for intelligence at the National Counterterrorism Center. He joined the CIA in 1980 as an analyst and led a regional office in the Directorate of Intelligence, the unit that produces the President's daily brief. In his career, he has received a number of awards, including the Presidential Rank Award for exceptional performance, the Distinguished Intelligence Medal for his role in the 2011 operation against Osama Bin Laden, and the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, among others.
