Hello Phil and Karen. That machine just saved you from handling the wood by one less time. I still think you can convince Karen to get the rest of that processor with the new conveyor which will prevent the old conveyor from freezing up on those cold winter days. Glad to see the new machine in your yard. Thanks for another good video.

Once we got buster we knew we were going to need a better way to feed it than just picking the rounds up off the ground . The dump trailer worked good because it had the rounds up off the ground and then we went to just using the rock bucket but for a yr now we’ve been talking about building a hopper feeder and then we found out Carter equipment actually sells them . They offered to let us try this one before buying one . Sure is a time saver and it’s way easier on my back . I’m perdy sure it’s never leaving my yard .
People wonder why at our age we are smart as we are that’s because we’ve learned to work smarter and not harder. Love your new addition I think one other thing I would do is add a third leg on one of the sides because when I watched you dump a bucket load of round in, she rocked back-and-forth quite a bit. I think I’d put a third leg on the opposite side of the tractor that would help other than that. It looks great and I noticed your T-shirt wasn’t as sweaty as usual which is a good thing. I’m glad you like it cause I think it’s a great addition, PS I thought it was the blue one, but at least I was in the right direction ha ha you two have a great weekend also Phil this will give you a little more time to help clean the pool lol Lee Hillsgrove Trucking Singing off 👍
After a lot of years of pounding our bodies we figure it out eventually Lee lol. This thing is really rugged and built well. I’ll keep an eye on that but it really seems to handle the load well. We are way behind and trying to produce wood and get it dry for the stands. Don’t see any pool cleaning in the near future lol
Great addition to your woodyard you too I had a feeling after watching the video with you being in Long Island that this is what you were coming home with mainly because everything else was just too damn big so it was great to see that it's an awesome piece of equipment take care and looking forward to the next video
Thanks Dale. It made the most sense to fit in with our setup. Plus I’ve been wanting one of these for a long time. Hard to believe more companies aren’t making these
We haven’t bought it yet , right now it’s on loan to do some videos but I don’t see it ever leaving . Seeing and learning about all the new firewood equipment at the shows can get expensive for me . It’s a good thing we’re not rich or I’d need a bigger yard for all the toys I’d bring home from the shows lol.
@@AllenFamilyFirewood well, at least you have it for the duration, lol. That’s great that they let you trial it out for a while. Best of luck with it and hopefully it will stay with you, lol.

Great piece of equipment that looks as though it will make your life much easier. New Buster, tractor, truck, trailer and now a infeed, please don’t take this wrong but it may be time to improve your stacking machines life in some way, shape or form! Mrs Allen I’m rooting for you to get some comfort features to help you in your end of the business! Please keep up the great work!
We didn’t video it when we were down there but they have this big square box that you set a pallet under and it vibrates . As the wood comes off the conveyor it drop in the box onto the vibrating pallet and as it gets full the box lifts up and wraps the half cord of wood with netting so you can go set it out to dry . No more stacking with that machine . Maybe down the rd we can add that but then that would eliminate her job .
Congrats Phil and Karen. That's going to up your game. That laugh when you pulled in the first log had me chuckling. It looks like you've got Buster turned up fast again. Does Karen know? Lol. Great video.
Lol thanks Jerry. Been wanting one of these for so long and I can see it working to our benefit. Not having to lift those rounds other than with the tractor is a game changer. Karen knows she just tries not to watch lol
Phil this is a good piece of equipment for you. You’re right it will save your back. Where was this stuff 50 years ago but I think you and Karen can both enjoy it now if there’s a way to do it I would buy that.
Phil while your modifying the unit. Another mod to help with the trash material. Make an attached or unattached grizzly bars all the way down the outside of the feeder sidewall. Make it attached and folds up or a grizzly stand that’s movable. Stop the trash in the dump of the tractor bucket. Great video both of you. Be safe.
Phill I think your on to something. No gas motor, pumps. Hydraulic lines. It’s stupid simple. 😮 we don’t need to reinvent the wheel. 🛞 LOL. Put a slide under it and make some heavy duty wood boxes. Or frame the boxes with heavy channel and bolt thick lumber to angle. You know any one with a saw mill LOL !!!! Stronger the better for durability. Stay safe my friend both of you.
@@AllenFamilyFirewood Maybe someone will make a grizzly bar firewood bucket with grapple, with the tractor parked on the end of the splitter with the bucket raised might not even need a hopper feeder.
Game changer, love it.if your on a budget get an old stainless steel sander and cut one end open. Use one that has a 12 volt starter motor to turn the chain /feeder. I see these old sander /salters for $300/$400 on marketplace.
We’ve had plans to build one for a few yrs now and that was one of the things we were looking at also an old manure spreader would work I think . Build ya own or buy one there are worth there weight in gold . I know for us it about doubled our production and I no longer have to twist or bend over lifting them rounds .
I somehow knew you guys were going to bring that back to the farm when you announced that your going to LI with a trailer, happy to see its working well for you, after your mods you may want to take a plastic bladder that comes with the ibc totes and cut the lid and use that to capture the fines that fall by the engine, just slid it out and dump into the tractor fel when full, better then raking.
I had a feeling most everyone would know that the hopper feeder was coming home with us . We got the mods done sunday and we will show ya them in Tuesdays video . Still gota work on something that will fit in under the hopper as there’s not a lot of room .
Thanks John . Should be a time saver as well . I droped your name to Matt as he is always looking for guys to haul equipment might be worth a call in to him if your interested . He remembered seeing you at the Vermont show .
That was the main reason for the trip to NY but we got side tracked when we saw all there other firewood equipment and they let us just start running all of it .
Lol, would love to have all the fancy equipment to speed everything up but we might run out of room in the woodyard and then there wouldn’t be any room to store wood!
Yes, Phil that is a real neat piece of equipment and if they had stuff like that down in Virginia, I sure could use one if I haven’t gotten into the wood business
It would work great for you Mike , you already have the tractor . Not having to pick up logs or roll em to the log lift is a huge time saver . Also I no longer have to noddle the big rounds any more and that’s a huge time saver .
That hopper is certainly a game changer. Making a top plate/ funnel and deflector for the engine n battery should ease your concerns. All around the right accessory for your operation.👍 It'll probably give ya more motivation to help the "stacking machine's since your back doesn't hurt.🤣🤣lol
Like any new equipment it takes a lil time to get it all so it flows good with our operation . Karen’s been on bundle duty this summer so I’ve had to stack everything I split . Once the bundle season is over and she’s back stacking I’ve agreed to help with the stacking as well .
Phill the super axe are a great splitter we have the 4150 the one you showed in the video but not the hopper yet?? That will be on order in January. We are in your age bracket and doing 500 mts year =to a couple hundred cord?? In any of the videos you never mentioned that they are made and designed in Australia by a family company. Thanks to Matt Carta equipment. Enjoy all your videos. Thumbs up for the hopper 👍. Great help for Karen and also your self cheers Baz from Tasmania
I should have mentioned they were made in Australia and I will in the next video . They sure have a lot of really cutting edge equipment that most people here in the states have never seen .
We e put 12-15 cord threw it already and it sure is nice not having to bend over or go walking to pick up another round . I wouldn’t be without a hopper feeder now .
You should try cutting the top 6-8" off of an IBC tote and use it for a catch pan under the area where the debris falls. Tie a rope to each corner on the outside for easier dumping. Worth a try...
I’ve never wanted to go for a processor mostly because we do mostly bundle wood and I’m looking for that consistent sized wood and a vertical is just the ticket for that . The hopper feeder is perfect for not having to pick up the rounds and it will up production for us .
That hopper will make a tremendous difference in your operation!! Your next improvement will need to be something/someone to help Karen on the stacking end!
The hopper is definitely going to make things easier on me for splitting . Karen’s been doing all the bagging so I’ve had to do all the stacking this summer and I think between the 2 of us stacking once the bagged wood slows down we should be good .
That's a nice machine you got I hope you enjoy it easier on the back You should have bought the other machine too where you're at it Stay safe my friend and have a good day
Well now I have an endless supply of wood at my finger tips and a fast splitter so the slowest part is me lol . Especially in this heat and humidity it’s hard to get much more than a cord a day split an stacked .
Awesome video when I first saw a similar machine that outdoors with the morgan was using I thought man would it be nice to have a conveyor belt you can dump rounds into! The only way you can get faster now is if you have something like a halverson where you pick the whole log up and use it to cut the rounds directly onto that conveyor belt then have someone splitting. But at what point does a processor become the better choice
Only problem with most processors is they don’t make consistent sized wood unless you feed them consistent sized wood . The company we got that from has a unit that is separate and will cut logs right into the hopper for ya . Maybe next yr if all goes well we can look into adding that . Sure would be hard to get me away from a vertical splitter there’s just so many advantages to using one of them for producing bundle grade wood .
@@AllenFamilyFirewood Thats true your quality wood is high end. boneless/ skinless wings 😂 The only other machine that makes perfect cuts like that is one of those side punch machines like the fuel wood or the pinosa both those machines give consistent sized wood but would still have the bark so yeah I dont think theres anything beating that set up you have!
Congratulations on the new equipment, Phil. You’ve made an investment in your health and your future. In terms of cost, it should pay for itself in a few seasons with the time savings.
That’s the plan . No more twisting turning and lifting big rounds from the ground or the bucket onto the splitter . I’m always looking for ways to increase production and save on my back .
NICE, it sure solves one of the heavy lifting chores! I personally think going at these system in pieces may wind up cheaper than these giant wood processors. They cost more than your house these days for a small piece of equipment! You will most likely want a tiny chip conveyor to pull that sawdust to the back and up into a plastic tote bin or a waste pile well back from the machine. Old sawmills used to use a drag chain. Me, I would also want a hood over my engine, and a real muffler and exhaust pipe. When I shut down for the night , I'm usually beat. Right then, I don't like cleaning all the piles away from the machine. Either they might burn, or they might freeze, you have to clean up. Also, the engine is hot right then, I want a METAL hood, like off an old lawn tractor, not plastic.
It’s going to be piece by piece for us as we just don’t have the room one of them big machines takes up . We’re hoping having a deflection shield will get the sawdust away so I can keep it clean in there . Things get way too hot in that area to risk having a fire . I’m also trying to do a better job of sifting out all the sawdust when I pick up a scoop full on that rock bucket .
After using it I’ve found a lot of other uses for it .sure would be nice having it set up to dump dry bundle wood into and be set up at the end with the bagging station and never have to bend over picking up pieces . It sure is slick though when you’re not chasing rounds to throw up onto the splitter .
It sure is going to be a time saver and be real nice not having to lift rounds any more . Belive it or not more than once I’ve had deer guts on the shed door knob so I know what ya mean lol .
It’s definitely a treat having that hopper feeder . After putting a few cord through it I don’t see it leaving it definitely has a place in our wood yard . It would be nice set up differently as well I’m thinking it would work good to dump dry bundle grade splits into and set up the bagging station at the end of it . No more reaching for wood when ya bagging it just brings it to ya . The possibility’s are ended with that hopper feeder .
Give Matt a call and he will set you up . I’m already wanting another one of these so we can dump the pallets of dry bundle wood into it and just set the bagger at the end of the as sort of a production line for bagging wood . Don’t forget to tell Matt you saw it on here as it will save ya $ 500 on the unit .
That’s a great idea, but there’s not a lot of room under the splitter. It may not have shown it in the video. Hoping the shield to deflect the scrap will serve the purpose at least for now
Nice hopper feeder Phil, can you not modify a IBC tote bladder to go under the out feed end to catch your saw dust and trash, like chris has at the woodyard?
I need to move the battery tray first but with that gone and a deflector there might be enuf room to get a rubber maid tote in there to get a lot of it .
Love it. That is a huge back saver. I know it is on loan to you, but i dont see that thing ever leaving the woodyard now. Something else you haven't mentioned is that it frees up your dump trailer. It also saves a lot of abuse of big rounds being dumped into your trailer. I also wanted to mention. You should try bagging the bark you are splitting of those rounds and selling it as cheaper bundles. Not everyone wants perfect clean wood. i would definitely buy a bundle of split of bark if it was cheaper. Just another idea. Make money off of everything. I see you are selling totes of uglys all the time now. Hey, maby, you could sell a tote of the bark cut-offs better than driving it to the dump. Just my $.02 Keep up the great work you two.
Thanks Josh I’m hoping it doesn’t leave lol. You’re right and I meant to say it in the video but forgot. I hated dumping those rounds into the dump trailer but had to do it for a while. It wouldn’t have taken that abuse for the long term though so this machine is definitely the answer. We are so far behind we couldn’t even imagine having to bundle the bark too. It’s a great idea though but I think I bit off a little more than I could chew with our stands this year. We’ve more than doubled from last year so it’s keeping us more than busy!
OMG this what i been looking for . Also love your splitter its so fast who sells it? Thank you! I see in description i will call them an tell them where i seen it!!

Hard to believe more companies aren’t making these
Hey Phil and Mrs Karen , congratulations on the hooper . That thing is sweet . 👍🏻🇺🇸🪵
Thanks Dell we sure are happy with it . No more man handling rounds for me the hopper feeder has it covered lol .
Congratulations on the new addition to the woodyard. Will update the production for sure 👍 may need another stacking to keep up 😂
Thanks Bob it sure will speed up production but I see more stacking in my future lol. Might have shot myself in the foot on this one
What a great purchase, Phil & Karen 👍🏼. You are not allowed to go to any more shows, lol 😂 . That’s a lot of wood in that hopper. What a nice machine.
@@Chucky-b7v thanks Wayne I’m gona work my tail of so I can keep this
This is you guys awesome! We are in 🎉 I was telling chug about that thing the other day WE WANT ONE I’ll ask Stix . Great video and channel ❤
We love it and it’s been a game changer in our wood yard . No more lifting rounds or walking to go get them . I’m sure that would look good feeding your splitter . You guys are a riot to watch , that’s rule #1 in our wood yard everyone’s gota have fun . Thanks for stopping by .
Been wanting this for a long time. There sure is a lot of equipment today to make the job easier. For a price lol. And we do firewood for a living!
Be safe.
That’s a great idea I was thinking a disk cleaner to feed the hopper but your idea might be a less expensive option and should work just as good .
Thanks for replying back. Phill a junkyard can be a man’s best friend. Found many treasures there. Angle etc. be safe.
@ I was even thinking a 8 dump insert on a stand that could empty on to a table.
Firewood business doing good. Definitely be nice tool to have. Stay cool.
So far we love it I just can’t belive I didn’t get one yrs ago it sure saves on the back .
That thing is awesome Phil😃👍
Thanks John . Should be a time saver as well . I droped your name to Matt as he is always looking for guys to haul equipment might be worth a call in to him if your interested . He remembered seeing you at the Vermont show .
Sweet I knew you would bring one home.
That was the main reason for the trip to NY but we got side tracked when we saw all there other firewood equipment and they let us just start running all of it .
Looks like a great idea.
It’s working out great so far. Been wanting one of these for a long time
Congratulations on the new piece of equipment!! Now Phil can split faster and be able to stack more!!!😂😂😂😂😂 Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Haha, good thinking David! Take care
That's the way to go Phil and Karen. Thanks.
Thanks Mark! Been wanting one of these for a long time. Take care!
Love the Hopper, now all you need is an automatic stacking machine for the Queen ☺️☺️☺️
It’s really working out well. Pretty sure you could get one delivered to Virginia lol
Ok. I want one.
It would work great for you Mike , you already have the tractor . Not having to pick up logs or roll em to the log lift is a huge time saver . Also I no longer have to noddle the big rounds any more and that’s a huge time saver .
Excellent! Bet you sleep well knowing that equipment works as well as you thought it would. A no need for pain killers. Cheers from HB NZ
Thanks Cliff. That’s what I’m hoping for! This machine takes the heavy lifting out of it for sure
That hopper is certainly a game changer. Making a top plate/ funnel and deflector for the engine n battery should ease your concerns. All around the right accessory for your operation.👍
It'll probably give ya more motivation to help the "stacking machine's since your back doesn't hurt.🤣🤣lol
Like any new equipment it takes a lil time to get it all so it flows good with our operation . Karen’s been on bundle duty this summer so I’ve had to stack everything I split . Once the bundle season is over and she’s back stacking I’ve agreed to help with the stacking as well .
I guess i was right lol that feeder looks great hooked to buster and better for your back enjoy the new toy its never going back to new york lol
One way or another I’m gona figure out a way to keep it here . After using it I don’t want to ever go back to man handling rounds .
@@AllenFamilyFirewood I don't blame you that tractor lifts those rounds way easier than you do softwood or hardwood doesn't make a difference to it
Phill the super axe are a great splitter we have the 4150 the one you showed in the video but not the hopper yet?? That will be on order in January. We are in your age bracket and doing 500 mts year =to a couple hundred cord?? In any of the videos you never mentioned that they are made and designed in Australia by a family company. Thanks to Matt Carta equipment. Enjoy all your videos. Thumbs up for the hopper 👍. Great help for Karen and also your self cheers Baz from Tasmania
I should have mentioned they were made in Australia and I will in the next video . They sure have a lot of really cutting edge equipment that most people here in the states have never seen .
Nice stuff. 👍🏼💪🏼
Yes, someone else mentioned that as well. Might just have to give it a try. Thanks!
Great video 🤙🍻🇦🇺
Thanks we appreciate ya taking the time to watch and comment .
Oh man now I want one ! And a nice splitter to go along with lol
Lol, playing with all that equipment down in New York made me want one of everything!
If you don't have a processor with live deck to get around working with rounds, that hopper feeder is a great thing especially for your back.
That's a nice machine you got I hope you enjoy it easier on the back You should have bought the other machine too where you're at it Stay safe my friend and have a good day
Thanks Frank. It’s a lot easier on the back. I would have brought home a lot more but we do firewood for a living lol take care
I run a vertical and the slowest part has always been feeding the machine...🔥
Well now I have an endless supply of wood at my finger tips and a fast splitter so the slowest part is me lol . Especially in this heat and humidity it’s hard to get much more than a cord a day split an stacked .
What ever makes it less strenuous on you works 💪
Absolutely! Smarter not harder
@@AllenFamilyFirewood Thats true your quality wood is high end. boneless/ skinless wings 😂
The only other machine that makes perfect cuts like that is one of those side punch machines like the fuel wood or the pinosa both those machines give consistent sized wood but would still have the bark so yeah I dont think theres anything beating that set up you have!
@@Waterboy516 the machines with that x knife design really make nice shaped consistent sized wood . But your right they don’t take the bark off
Congratulations on the new equipment, Phil. You’ve made an investment in your health and your future. In terms of cost, it should pay for itself in a few seasons with the time savings.
That’s the plan . No more twisting turning and lifting big rounds from the ground or the bucket onto the splitter . I’m always looking for ways to increase production and save on my back .
Christmas in July!
Sure is
Nice video
Thanks Ralph!
Funny how we work smarter when we get older, nice score!
We sure do! Lol. Thanks John
I'm thinking I just might need one of those..
$500 off! Allen Family Firewood special! lol we’ve been wanting one of these for a long time and it did not disappoint!
I could have used that hopper yesterday when splitting
After using it I’ve found a lot of other uses for it .sure would be nice having it set up to dump dry bundle wood into and be set up at the end with the bagging station and never have to bend over picking up pieces . It sure is slick though when you’re not chasing rounds to throw up onto the splitter .
Cool 👍
Sure is a slick rig I definitely wouldn’t want to split wood without one now .
Thats slicker than deer guts on a door knob, gonna save you time in the big scheme of things .
It sure is going to be a time saver and be real nice not having to lift rounds any more . Belive it or not more than once I’ve had deer guts on the shed door knob so I know what ya mean lol .
hi there been saying that for years .best to all john
Sure is making life easier take care!
Like a kid in a candy store Phil. Enjoy the treats man. You deserve it with all the B.S. you two have been through.😊
It’s definitely a treat having that hopper feeder .
@@AllenFamilyFirewood I agree.
How do you load the log blanks on to conveyor
We load the rounds with the tractor
Ok I need pricing info on this. I’m already scheming a few different ideas.
Smart choice!!! My wife tells me "work smarter not harder".
She’s correct and I believe this hopper feeder is one of the solutions for us to save on my back and up production .
Sic em Rex 👍
Lol 😂 👍
Are there metal bars that support the rubber conveyor material? They would be attached to the chain?
There is a solid metal plate under the conveyor reinforced with 3 steel square tubes
Dang!! Take my money!
They definitely don’t give them hoppers away but it doubled my production by adding that and now I wouldn’t want to be without one .
Phil get a tote bladder cut down for a tray by the battery and put a rope handle to pull it out. Drill holes in it to drain
@@rogerl8488 definitely give Matt a call and he will set ya up . There great people to deal with . Our splitter is home made by my buddy Dana . You can find him on his TH-cam channel called s’more firewood . He’s a wiz at welding fabrication and hydraulics .
Your splitter is faster than any of the commercial ones.
Yup definitely the fastest vertical out there . It has a cycle time of 2 seconds . Just gota be extra careful splitting that fast cause it’s easy to lose a finger . I got lucky and they put my thumb back on . Ck out the end of our video called wet t shirt ends in disaster .
Looks good, now you need one on the other end for the stacking machine. Lol
Thanks! Lol, she’s already mentioned it
I love your splitter is that your own design?
My buddy Dana at s’more firewood came up with the design and we converted my old splitter into what you see now . It is the fastest vertical splitter out there but if ya not careful it will clip off a finger . I got lucky and they reattached my thumb . Honestly it’s to fast but I like it .
Hey great video, how does your splitter have such a fast cycle time?
A buddy of mine Dana built it for me from an old splitter I had . He has a channel called s’more firewood . I don’t know all the technical stuff but he’s a wiz at welding , fabrication and hydraulics . He should be able to answer your questions
Can you reverse the belt? If you can you could probably cut the logs and would not have to worry about hitting the dirt
The belt on the hopper feeder will go in either direction . We cut all the rounds in a coral and then scoop them up with the loader to dump into the hopper feeder .
I have been talking about a hopper feed, for about four years, maybe some day..
We knew last yr after we started using our vertical splitter there had to be a better way of getting the rounds on to the table . We drew up plans to build a hopper feeder but my welding guy has been busy . We met the crew from Carter equipment at Paul Bunyan show last yr and they told us they make them so that’s how this has all come about . I can say after just the little I have run it I wouldn’t want to be without one .
Anything that will help with preserving the body.
I agree Daniel we’re not getting any younger lol
Hope you got one for Karen aswell.. looks like it make stacking a breeze
Funny you say that, we were just talking about that the other day! It would work great for that too
