@@jamesmacdiarmid Yep, I'm finally getting some good averages but it took like 40 solves to finally get used to it. I had some issues with the grip for example
Haha honestly I don't think I'm that good, it still feels like I pause lots and there are huge efficiency improvements to be made if I wanted to actually get good long-term. I just kinda wanted to snipe WB tho, I'm sure someone (you probably) will get good and take it before too long
It would be great to see you make a video about your method. I would love to hear you talk about the techniques you use to find and pair edges so quickly
Ah it's just basic reduction, I don't think I do anything particularly special. The only significant speed optimisation is solving F2L/S2L as you go rather than having an actual 3x3 stage, but I think it's easy to see how that works by just watching the solve
the fact that Lucas Wesche might have had a sub6 back in 2017(no proof or specific times iirc) shows how stagnant the event is. I really hope that diansheng will actually make a magnetic giga and they or someone will make a master kilo, that puzzle is so much fun
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised at all. Apparently yuxin giga isn't *that* much better than shengshou, so if I could get sub 6 after 100 or so solves, I'm sure people could have gotten much faster years ago if they'd really tried
Holy smokes nice solve, btw did you make any changes with the Gigaminx out of the box? (Tension, lube, etc..). I have the Yuxin myself (average around 7:20). Although my cube doesn’t turn nearly as fast as that even after loosening it slightly and adding some cubicle speedy. Thanks in advance.
@@jamesmacdiarmid Damn I guess I just turn pretty slow 😂. I actually tried the method you use, building the edges for each center solved. I used to start out with f2l star centers then edges that go with it and so on. I cut down to 7:00 minutes just from using that method which is a lot. Appreciate the solve video.
Is this "cube" good? I mean, i probably wanna buy it, but the puzzle isn't magnetic which is disappointing, and I'm a little bit worried about possible bad experience
I believe it's the best Gigaminx on the market currently, but Diansheng is set to release a magnetic version before long, so you may want to wait on that
I mean I haven't done a tonne of method experimentation, really just some variants of reduction+blockbuilding. This is what I've found to work well for me though
Congrats man, finally you got it first 👏
Thanks! Have you tried the yuxin gigaminx?

Right yeah, makes sense. I'm sure you'll beat me soon haha
@@jamesmacdiarmid At least I will try ;)
that was actually satisfying at the end when it was solved, and when you showed that it was sub 6 😍
Great solve, you're so good at finding pieces and your edge pairing is a lot better than mine too

Nice approach
Haha I sorta just copied what other people do

Cheers haha. Nah didn't do anything to it really, just broke it in

No problem
Cool method, congrats on sub 6!
lets go 🎉
Wow I didn’t know u practiced gigaminx I know you as the blind champion from nz 😅 congrats James!
Haha thanks. Yeah I was a mega guy before blind, and figured I could scoop up giga WB once the yuxin came out
@@jamesmacdiarmid Definitely! Breaking sub 6 is also a great milestone
Bro will be flying with Diansheng one
Haha we'll see
I need to try this some day
Whoa 😍🙌

Damnnn nicee!
Is that method is the most effective one so far?
