"he often felt that his whole life was some kind of dream, and he often wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it" - Douglas Adams, from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Oooh, "I wanted it to be satirical, but never farcical." - what a line. How profound. "Whenever I see / feel art - I want to lean in - because wisdom is on the other side of that discomfort."
I'm a 66 yo white woman and this is one of my very favorite movies of all time. I could watch it over and again. And, to see this very humble man who wrote it makes it that much better.
Loved the interview, but you guys have to sort out your audio levels for that outro. The content volume is way lower than the outro, so when the outro plays is blows my ears out every time.
It is surprising me too. He's better and smoother than several big-name talk show hosts out there! And he's just begin hosting sporadically like just for 1 year.
You could place many messages that you believe to be powerful in your story, only to find that even your most loyal fans may not process them the way you'd hope.
Jordan Keppler is as quick witted and sharp in these studio interviews as he is in the Trump rally segments. Honestly him and John Stewart are neck and neck for me for best host
Seriously? Lots of people in the US are IMPOSSIBLE to race-identify. In my own family (White, aledgedly) My older sister looked like a Native American; one cousin, when he moved away, was assumed to be Mexican; some could've been thought of Italian*; my son looks Semitic**. *O.K. Italians are White, but my family is U.K. German and Native. **I hope that's the correct term.
Cord is a black guy? I cant tell. I didnt notice and now that I look. Sometimes you have to have some real raciial-lines inscribed in yout mind for this. Why ? THERE WAS NO CLIP in the TH-cam. This makes it impossible for us to experience the interview properly. What is This For?
He is the colour of how future USA will look. Lovely golden complexions with fine features...multiracial people whose race will be difficult to see. It will happen even if zero brown people are ever allowed into the country again. There will be more and more interracial children born. "White" will be the only easily identifiable minority race.
What difference does his race make in the context of this conversation? Like sexuality, his race has nothing to do with his talent, his achievements or his insight. He's a man who is to be rightfully admired, regardless of the judgemental and indeed, critical constructs formed by our tendency to arbitrarily categorize everything and everyone we encounter.
@@pyrexmaniac Have you seen the movie? In this very particular case, the point-of-view of one's racial experience is the point. Btw, the movie is GREAT and Cord really is rocking Jeffrey Wright's character's style here.
As a European, the idea that American audiences would look at a man like Cord and try and label him as 'Black' is absolutely absurd to me. The American conversation around race has become completely insane and detached from reality. It seems to me that race as we understand it scarcely exists anymore and America is struggling to find new labels to fit its current demographics.
As a non-black person with a black friend, I’ve heard that ‘blackness’ can be determined thus: “If you can’t decide whether to vote for Trump or Biden then, you ain’t black!” This stunning scientific discovery was made by a great American president who, unfortunately, contracted oil cancer and lost his mental faculties. I would tell you his name but, unfortunately, I was deposed shortly before making this comment and I..uh, can’t seem to remember who..where was I? Oh, yes, it was the president of Canada, Xi Jinping! 🧐
It is really awesome to see someone living their dream and that dream being appearing on the daily show

YESSSSSSSSS
:) I second that! Ifeel like they've already toned it down a bit, just not enough for my taste...
I agree and it's a common issue for many of us living in older buildings, my neighbours will react quite switfly to noise in general lol
❤ wisdom is on the other side of discomfort ❤❤❤❤ tshirt for Florida!!
What a great saying for everyone 🌞
Just saw the movie (American Fiction) from his book. Loved it. Coincidentally, our Assisted Living residence was turned into a nursing home.
What a refreshing kind of a guy!
Love love love this man. Hope he reads more Percival Everett.
I LOVE Percival Everett. I've read a couple of his novels. Trees was amazing.
Jordan Klepper is such a natural. The rest of the late night hosts are so rehearsed when interviewing guests(especially Fallon🤬what a phony)!😎
It is surprising me too. He's better and smoother than several big-name talk show hosts out there! And he's just begin hosting sporadically like just for 1 year.
I like Hassan the best.
First!!
P.S. Why doesn't The Daily Show ever post the Moment of Zen on TH-cam???
I suppose, that the Zen Moment is what you pay Comedy Central for. And we dont. And won't.
@@dreamervanroom The Moment of Zen was Jon Stewart's "thing".
@@HelynnHeels Actually the Moment of Zen has been on TDS from the very beginning with Craig Kilbourn.
@@jdj830 Okay then. Excuse me. I did not see The Daily Show then and know naught about this Craig Kilbourn. I only heard Jon use it.
Great interview and enjoyable film maker
I love the new outro. It's got a real get-up-and-dance vibe to it.
Cord Jefferson graduated from William and Mary 20 years after Jon Stewart did.
He wants us to have to think?!!!??
I’m definitely going to see this!!!!!
Imagination a note going to a writer saying “make the characters whiter”
:) I'm sure that MUST have happened, too... The correct response would be exactly the same!
@@dayegilharno4988 too true! 🌼
My return note would be "what, do we need to specifically mispronounce Spanish words and give them a pocket protector?"
I can. I supposed I’d be insulted if I thought Black was a bad thing too. Or white for that matter.
I'm so looking forward to see what he's doing next, American Fiction was one of my top 5 favourite movies last year.
Saw this film 2 days ago. Brilliant satire.
I truly cannot wait for his upcoming projects!

"Race" is only a social construct. It is " Character " that defines us!
I wish Trevor could have done this interview. I would love to have his views on this movie!

We are all mutts.

Fantastic...
wait- you uploaded the show clip but cut the promo clip? c’mon folks. basic stuff. are you trying to keep fing up tds? what’s going on over there?
Man Tobey Maguire has range
Ayyyy
Cord may be too literate for the unread public.
I know the network doesn't let you really talk about it or whatever but I really don't appreciate the "let's talk about palestine" jokes...
Boooh whooo
🙂🙂🙂
Brian from family guy vibes
Who?
Someone a far less anonymous than you.
Is your Google broken?
I thought the ending of the movie was redundant and cheap

Awesome...
YT audio is terrible. This sounds like a bunch of minions having a conversation under water. YT or did you guys encode off of an AM radio talk show ?
