Exploring an Abandoned Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Maryland More videos on TUC Extras Channel: / theunknowncamextras / theunknowncameraman / theunknowncam
Thank you for doing this. I love to explor these old places . Been doing it since childhood in the 70s. Can not get out like I use to , so I really enjoy your videos. Keep it up and be safe.
I love your videos, and the history we can learn just looking around in them! I feel compelled to tell you that the Hospital wasn't closed due to asbestos, it was closed when Ronald Regan cut the funding for these types of sanatoriums! I have a relative who was committed here from the early 1960's, and was a resident there until its closing! People were also released from Mental institutions. One day they were sick or contagious, the next day they had no place to go! It caused a large number of homeless!! Keep up the great work!!!!
Great video. Love the opening credits music that you use. You and FLURBEX are two of the best urban explorer channels I have seen. Well done videos, take nothing, leave only footprints.
UC, as always your videos are brilliant and this is NO exception. Very intense and quietly dramatic - closed since 1981, so that's 31 years of decay, of nature doing what it does. That elevator machine room was very eerie ("GURNEY"). If not mistaken, Gurney Elevator went bust in 1938 and was taken up by Westinghouse. Keep it up - thanks!
I would love to see another video about a Sanatorium or something related. I always watch these videos when i'm wondering around on TH-cam and this video really caught my attention.
oh okay i googled it...pretty cool..thanks for sharing these videos...they are amazing, and you seem to be all over the place filming hem...awesome job
It sure is a shame that people can't just come into buildings like this just to admire such beauty. We would all be able to enjoy the artifacts left behind in such tragedies if everyone could be more considerate. Every time I've ever gone somewhere abandoned, I made sure to only leave my footsteps to be sure not to ruin what beauty is left of these magnificent buildings.
BTW you used to be able to find this place off henryton rd in marriottsville, MD. It was closer to Baltimore than DC. And unfortunately it is no longer standing. Every so often around 2-3 am the place would catch fire. County had enough of it and considered it more a hazard than it already was and demolished it.
I really like that you do this. Abandoned human habitats are thought provoking, especially when one considers the joy and despair these places have witnessed. Would like to know what gear and editing programs you use. Cheers.
You do an awesome job with your camera work. You capture so much as well as the architectural value of these sites. There are so many of these facilities scattered all over this country and most of them have this same design and layout. Most of them lay in ruins now. There are Mental Institutions all over as well just laying in ruins. I feeling of saddness from watching this just thinking of all the suffering and lives that were lost.
DEFINITELY caught a entity @ 15:30 More so. Start watching @ 15:23 and let you're screen adjust back to color and watch in the left corner of the door way inside the room. Something moves VERY quickly to the left. Good eyes whoever posted that comment about it 1st.
That does suck! I was trying to get up there soon. There are so many locations I want to visit and just don't have the time or resources at the moment. It is so frustrating to have missed the opportunity to check it out. I feel like in 5 years exploring is going to be a whole new game. A lot of these great hospitals are coming down fast...
TheUnknownCameraman from what I've read on the county web site, they tore it down because it kept catching on fire in the middle of the night or EARLY early am like 2-3 am. Weird
Wow great video. I have wanted to go there for about 3 years now but have been to scared of getting caught, thanks a lot for unloading. How was the security?
The inside is pretty far gone and would cost a fortune to restore. I wonder if the structural integrity is any good? Glad you were smart enough to wear a respiratory. Thanks again for another great video!
Great job with the video! I have quite a few videos myself of some abandoned places and ghost towns I have put on my youtube page. Keep up the good work!
My brother is a night guard at a college, which use to be Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital. He goes in the old parts of the hospital at night. He's caught some crazy stuff from shadows, to EVP's, moans, etc. Answers to his questions even. Going with him tonight
Yeah I did. We used an app that uses radio waves to communicate with ghosts and stuff. We recorded our entire conversation with them. I have seven videos. A few different things in each.
Holy shit that's creepy. Hey, have you ever heard of Hall's Tower? It's in Central PA. I don't know the full story, but a guy had built a mansion with stolen money or something and he ended up going to jail and for decades his mansion rotted down and now there's barely anything left, but the first story/elevator shaft (several stories tall). It's still standing and you can see it from the highway. I visited it about 3 years ago.
Building A was opened in 1937, but Building B was opened in 1934? Somehow that does not sound correct...? Great job with this! I like how you don't talk through your vids! It is great to just take it in!
REQUEST: Tagus ranch world famous country theater located in Tulare, California on highway 99. I have been in there before but I'd like to see it on TH-cam. Thx :)
I want to donate money to you guys but Ive never done it on TH-cam before and don't have a CC can i buy a prepaid and then send it to you that way would it work?
you should make a video of the abandoned factory in Williamsport Maryland it was called the garden state tannery it closed down over 10 years ago they had a lil over 1000 workers there they made leather for Toyota cars and trucks and lexus if you can make a video of the inside of that factory let me know because I wanna see my dad worked there for 20 some years but he passed away in 2007 I just wannaed to see old mems of where he used to work
My friend and I were here today, after seeing an old sleeping bag and tool bag in the basement I wondered what the odds of a homeless person like robbing me of my camera gear and stuff. Have you ever had a close call like that or encountered someone unfriendly?
Love these! Keep it up! But i was wondering about some things. 1, do you belive in ghosts/paranormal things? 2, what is the ticket if you get busted traspassing? Anyways, take care !
Rancho Los Amigos is Downey Calif was a polio hospital that is still in operation today. Its going through a 418 million renovation . I think they were way to late deeming this place a historic landmark........
1:27 That hall is CREEPY... Did you wear a respirator in there? 16:58 was that a light on? Since this place is for sale I was imagining a Real Estate pitch over the film.. Picturesque fixer upper..imaging the possibilities!
Yes it is. There is a motion detector set up outside the entrance now. Yes, I know I'm responding to a message from 5 years ago but someone new might read this post and be aware of the camera.
This video was recorded 5 years ago. Security has been ramped up since then and the chances of getting caught have been increased dramatically. Yea, I know, there are video's of people going to this place that didn't get caught but they were lucky. If you go there DON'T use the morgue entrance anymore! There is now a motion detector on a tree directly across from the entrance. You don't see it until it's too late. I used a different entrance and looked out from a second story window and saw it! The cops don't give warnings! Be careful out there and use stealth and common sense.
From what I've heard yes! Be careful. There have been some posters who said there are no cops there! DON'T BELIEVE IT! They were lucky. Always use stealth! Be sneaky! Be quiet and avoid other explorers! Always assume there are cops there. Be careful and good luck!
JeffGuy Poe hey man, I’m wanting to go with a a group of friends (strictly for viewing) have any official worlds of wisdom. Place to park, place to enter from, which buildings to avoid, info about cops?
This is going to sound really stupid.........but at 9:16 the grade school that I went to (also in Maryland) has that exact same lock on one of the doors inside.
Nope you're right. A shadowy figure moves from door way to the left. More so inside the room right? It's actually the only clip I've seen on here that actually looks legit paranormal
Same. Haha by brother is a night guard at a college which use to be a hospital. Still parts there. He goes in there and he's caught some sick EVPs. Going with him tonight.
I don't like the world much. I do like our neighbors to the north. they did not take much credit for the victory in ww2. where would we be with out them. they were great. there military was a blessing to all of us. I don't forget them.
Great job! As always.
Thank you for doing this. I love to explor these old places . Been doing it since childhood in the 70s. Can not get out like I use to , so I really enjoy your videos. Keep it up and be safe.
Thanks for the footage! It's see eerie, but interesting at the same time!

Love your videos...keep them coming! :)
great video! this and the short KET (PBS) video are the best ones i've found about this place.
I love your vids! I watch them all the time thanks for them. and your in my state with this one!
Great video. Love the opening credits music that you use. You and FLURBEX are two of the best urban explorer channels I have seen. Well done videos, take nothing, leave only footprints.
You deserve so many more views for your work. You could easily have your own TV show, I'd watch it.
UC, as always your videos are brilliant and this is NO exception. Very intense and quietly dramatic - closed since 1981, so that's 31 years of decay, of nature doing what it does. 15:28 something diffently moves in the door
Omg i saw that-
Awesome Urban Explore vid!

Yet another outstanding vid but be carefull ok id hate to hear you got hurt doing these great vids. :)
A local tuberculosis sanitorium to me, the Iola Campus in Rochester, NY, has just been torn down today. IT SUCKS!!!!
Whoa, these abandoned places are amazing. Can I perhaps use some of your clips in a video I'm working on? I'll give you full credit.
DEFINITELY caught a entity @ 15:30 More so. Start watching @ 15:23 and let you're screen adjust back to color and watch in the left corner of the door way inside the room. Something moves VERY quickly to the left. Good eyes whoever posted that comment about it 1st.
Imagine venting inside a abandoned sanatorium
That does suck! I was trying to get up there soon. There are so many locations I want to visit and just don't have the time or resources at the moment. What program did you use for your intro? It's really good.
Can you turn the volume up a little bit? Thanks!
Gonna take ahella of a lot more than tax credits .... Thank you so much, amazing & surreal , loved the video !
This is a great video. Ever come to upstate NY like Syracuse area?
Which sanitarium was this?
You need to man up and show us a trip through the connecting tunnels :P
it says it right in the title. it was a tuberculosis sanatorium, basically a specialized hospital.
I'm slowly making my way through all of your vids and i was wondering.. Have you ever been caught or in trouble while on one of your investigations?
Do you travel to these places specifically, or just come across them?
The inside is pretty far gone and would cost a fortune to restore. I wonder if the structural integrity is any good? Glad you were smart enough to wear a respiratory. Thanks again for another great video!
Great job with the video! I have quite a few videos myself of some abandoned places and ghost towns I have put on my youtube page. Keep up the good work!
I love this place. We've visited many times, although now security seems to get getting a lot more tight.
Yes it has due to these videos and rookie explorers being noisy and foolish, getting caught.
Have you been in the Waverly Hills TB Hospital?
have you gone to waverly hills??
My brother is a night guard at a college, which use to be Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital. He goes in the old parts of the hospital at night. He's caught some crazy stuff from shadows, to EVP's, moans, etc. Answers to his questions even. Going with him tonight
Did you get any video footage? I'd like to see it and maybe others would too. :)
Yeah I did. We used an app that uses radio waves to communicate with ghosts and stuff. We recorded our entire conversation with them. I have seven videos. A few different things in each.
+Assassin2584 Where are your videos? I'd love to check them out.
Cheers
My brother and I are gonna see what we can do and edit the videos and I'll see if I can get them uploaded :)
Assassin2584
That would be great! Thanks!
:) Have an awesome weekend!
what was this placed used for until it closed in 1981??
what is the video of you falling through the floor title?
Holy shit that's creepy. Hey, have you ever heard of Hall's Tower? It's in Central PA. Did you shoot this in november or just upload?
In its heydays, that was probably a nice place, how time takes a toll on things!
At 19:02 you can see a truck driving by. The same one chased my friend as we were leaving years ago. Fun times. Great footage.
What you saw was nothing more than a motorist driving on the street.
Building A was opened in 1937, but Building B was opened in 1934? Somehow that does not sound correct...?
Great job with this! I like how you don't talk through your vids! It is great to just take it in!

before and don't have a CC can i buy a prepaid and then send it to you that way would it work?
Very cool video. @15:28 who/what walks through the room to the left of the view?
great video just one thing, building A opened in 1937 and building B opened in 1934?
you should make a video of the abandoned factory in Williamsport Maryland it was called the garden state tannery it closed down over 10 years ago they had a lil over 1000 workers there they made leather for Toyota cars and trucks and lexus if you can make a video of the inside of that factory let me know because I wanna see my dad worked there for 20 some years but he passed away in 2007 I just wannaed to see old mems of where he used to work
Yay!
My grandfather (rip) always tells me that I have a relative who went to the hospital way back then I probably would meet their ghosts
My friend and I were here today, after seeing an old sleeping bag and tool bag in the basement I wondered what the odds of a homeless person like robbing me of my camera gear and stuff. Have you ever had a close call like that or encountered someone unfriendly?
Hey there's a abandoned six flags in New Orleans can you ever check it out?
You up for travelling? I'm a 10 minute walk from Belchertown State Schools. Look it up.
Love these! Keep it up! But i was wondering about some things. 1, do you belive in ghosts/paranormal things? 2, what is the ticket if you get busted traspassing? Anyways, take care !
What the hell is that hanging from the ceiling at 2:55?
Rancho Los Amigos is Downey Calif was a polio hospital that is still in operation today. Its going through a 418 million renovation . I think they were way to late deeming this place a historic landmark........
Great
You can heart the respirator the whole time.
Have you ever seen ghost at any of the abandoned placs you go to?
we live around the corner from this place,,, creepy !!!!
1:27 That hall is CREEPY... Did you wear a respirator in there? 16:58 was that a light on? Since this place is for sale I was imagining a Real Estate pitch over the film.. Picturesque fixer upper..imaging the possibilities!

It's the wind :3
Ur respirator is so loud omg! Lol

Okay, Is it me or did I catch an EVP scream @ 14:06?
That was the wind. Haha it went throughout the video
armouredpuppy he's got a respirator mask it's him breathing
Victoria actually it's his gas mask he has over his mouth it's the sound it makes when he inhales
Hope you used a respirator , it looks nasty!
6:29 is that the morgue??
Yes it is. There is a motion detector set up outside the entrance now. Yes, I know I'm responding to a message from 5 years ago but someone new might read this post and be aware of the camera.

JeffGuy Poe alright man I sent you an email
I keep expecting you to find a corpse or something horrible like on TV but thankfully not!
How tf do you have the guts to go in there alone lmao
He was definitely not alone he had someone following him. Place got torn down couple years ago
HenryTon i have been there
This is going to sound really stupid.........but at 9:16 the grade school that I went to (also in Maryland) has that exact same lock on one of the doors inside.
the only thing i can think of when i watch this vid is the movie Death tunnel -.-
did any one hear some talking in the vid in someparts i did
I would have panicked. o3o
Probably right. :)
It sound's like your wearing a filtration mask (and I'm really really hoping you were.)
i love this compared to the voice disguiser
Lol.. Of course he used a respirator.. You can hear his breathing through it..
DO OSAMA WAS ATTENDING IN THAT MORGUE?
AT THE SAME TIME CHUKY
I just hope you were wearing a mask of some kind, that paint could do a number to your lungs
Okay at 15:28 I swear I saw something move in front of the door really fast.
That was him turning his camera off
Nope you're right. A shadowy figure moves from door way to the left. More so inside the room right? It's actually the only clip I've seen on here that actually looks legit paranormal
I hear EVP's

It was nice of Canada to send a couple rowboats to help reinforce the allied fleet! :P
lol @ 12:56 is she carrying a crossbow?
