    Thanks for the tip on using Kleen Strip Aircraft paint remover. We're stripping our boom right now and sanding would take forever. Tried soda blasting and glass bead blasting, and wouldn't even scuff the Awlcraft 2-part paint. Ill go get me some Kleen Strip!! Thanks again.

    be careful using metal brushes. your mast is coveted in a thin layer of pure aluminium to protect it from the elements. try to use copper brushes and copper wool instead of steal. the steal will scrape away that protective layer. also since your not going to paint see if you can get alidin. it chemicaly oxides the surface and hardness it creating a very resistant and strong protective layer. wax can only do so much and will only last 18-24 months without the jib scrubbing it off when you tack. polished aluminum looks great but like most things that look great it requires some work. I'd epoxy it with west system 105/207 and wax it. solid strong clear coat and 2 part varnish and wax. it'll look amazing and lay for ever
