Have been looking deeply into Texas A&M for grad school. This video helped me a lot, especially with considering moving 10 hours away from home.

What I like about A&M is that it truly represents the values of the South and Texas. Yes it's a little more conservative, traditional southern, and "white" as you put it, but it's not twisted or corrupt like a lot of things these days. Texas A&M genuinely cares about camaraderie, helping each other, respecting others, being welcoming. It's nice to be a part of something so much bigger than you with a lot of unique history, but with thr cozy small town feel with the culture.

I made many memories in College Station (& Bryan), the big school with a small town feel is definitely special!

I'm interested to see what fish year will be like in the Corps of Cadets and band. I'll be living on campus on the Quad with my buddies and my outfit, but I will also be doing some classes at Blinn for engineering so two days a week I'll be at Rellis. It should be an interesting experience

What an amazing video! I hope you will get some time to read my comment. So, I have been looking to contact someone that studies engineering, and I have found your brother! Well, I might get a chance to do a bachelor's in electrical engineering. I know that everyone is capable of doing it if they work hard, but I feel worried. I graduated from high school 10 years ago and forgot everything. I will need to do a lot of: reading, writing etc and many difficult subjects like: Calculus (1,2,3,4), physics (2,3) not to mention the rest of the courses. I want to do it, but I am scared to ruin my scholarship...

Are you more competitive when registering for classes?? Is it hard to register for class?

Dont say anything negative down south yall or youll regret it! lol. Honestly I didnt feel this was 100pct. My experience in Texas was that the leadership is still very much the old south. Racism still exists, southern culture has alot of bullying, there are alot of strange cultural norms. They are trying to advertise they are something different but they are not there yet. They basically force a smile and try to be kind to others even when they arent. Also its still very much a military school... its so theres a lot of mean military behavior thats just okayed as part of the culture. Drinking is also part of the culture there. The aggie traditions were neat, and you can immediately strike up a conversation if you are another aggie, but the traditions are quirky. You will work with southern military people later. Had an army tank commander scream at a conference table bc he was incapable of working w the client. Lots of stories, but overall, Id suggest going to school up north and avoid the heavy handed nasty southern culture all together.

I would say that your comments are slightly out of place considering this video isn't solely based on race and our experiences as minorities at Texas A&M. Unfortunately our own personal experiences can't speak for everyone nor can it encompass the entirety of the south as a whole. As someone who was born and raised in Texas, of course I can speak of certain discriminatory actions that I may have seen or experienced throughout the entirety of my life but to be honest during the majority of my upbringing, I have been blessed to have not dealt with the overwhelming racist sentiment that you just spoke of. And that is specific to me, just as your experiences are specific to you. The point of this video was to hopefully inform and provide insight for future Aggies so that we could possibly provide them a resource as they begin their college careers at a fantastic university. The fact that we even discussed our experiences specifically pertaining to our race was just a way to ease thoughts and feelings that some other minorities may have based on the same exact stereotype that you just spoke of when speaking about Texas A&M and the south as a whole. Which I feel is unfair, you can't tell someone that everyone in the south is racist and a bigot just based off of your own experience, which is fine if thats how you feel, but to make a blanket statement about an entire university or much less an entire region of the country is extremely unfair and insensitive. I would recommend Texas A&M to anyone of any color over and over, because my 7 years there provided me opportunities to succeed over and over again, and for me to deprive someone of that same exact opportunity would be dong a disservice to my university and the people who look/relate to me as a minority.

tell me why i saw you comment the same stuff on another person's HONEST personal experience at A&M ... don't you get tired of writing these paragraphs? it's 2020, yes it's the south and yes racism obviously exists but times are changing and so is the demographic.
