Whats cracking guys! 7 ways to make your shoes last longer. Have you got any other tips for how to protect your shoes? Drop it in the comments below! P.S ... tip 7 is used at your own risk and not legal or professional advice from Tring shoe repairs ltd!
I’ve always rotated shoes to keep them wearable and it really works, along with cream- but we all need a great cobbler like yourself as time goes by for restoration ❣️thanks Dan, very funny ending❗️
I just got a pair of boots as a gift and thought I should learn how to take care of them. Came across your page and this is by far the best shoe care content!
I like you first, then I watch you! But I like watching you work and what a cool workshop you have. I am also your colleague who works in Moldova. Thanks for the video!!!
Writing from California. Great video and extremely handy considering I, like most folks, work hard for our money and want our shoes to just last....forever.
Your video was interesting and helpful, it also lifted my day. Things are so serious these days, we shouldn't forget that life can be fun too. Thanks for sharing.
I just wanna say I watched your videos because youtube recommending them and now I own a pair of fancy leather boots so of course I will buy your products to maintain my boots
Oh, I know know the mistakes I made with my shoe care. I appreciate this video very much. I live in the USA, and I have about 60 pairs of shoes , sneakers, and boots.
Holy smokes, I paused to grab the mail when you were beginning to dig your hole and in the interim I made up dialogue and rationale, and I ended up getting it close. Lol
Nice tips Dan, thanks! Hey Ron, hey Reggie. Tip for you Dan, if your going to start digging holes for fun, you should invest in a shovel with a longer handle , more comfortable to use.
I use a Passier cream for saddles I buy at the tack shop. It’s gotta be the best leather cream I have used. You get a giant tin for like $30. Love the stuff.
Dan, steve bedo and Trenton and Heath…I don’t even watch sports anymore bc of these guys. I find it better to watch one of their videos than a football game.
I think it's possible to use cedar shoe tree for overnight for the pair of shoes You used. And next day replace with plastic shoe tree. And put cedar shoe tree in the newly used shoes. No?
One question for you, Dan: Do you have any tips on preserving or restoring patent leather shoes such as what American military calls Corframs? They crease and scuff, but there doesn't seem to be a good way to get those sorted out and preserve them like real leather. Also, always, always love it when you're silly. That's one of the many reasons why I'm here LOL! Love and appreciate the brief escape and laughter. Thanks!
Very simple changes can extend the life of your shoes significantly. I used to condition my shoes once every two weeks/four weeks. Now I do it once per season. I also let my shoes air out for about an hour before inserting cedar trees. I also started conditioning my leather soles and not just the uppers.
Love yr videos. Where is yr shop that you get such upmarket shoes. I have a shoe fetish so love to see the expensive shoes. Maybe you could tell us why they are so expensive. Thanks so much
I can attest that putting something in a cardboard box and burying it does not make it last longer. I copied Blue Peter as a child and decided to make my own 'time capsule'. I 'sealed' some of my prized possessions in a cardboard box and buried it in the garden. Two weeks later, I dug up a horrible soggy mess and everything was ruined.
Hello, and thank you for these useful insights on shoe care. I have a practical question. We generally agree that we should not wear the same pair of shoes twice in a row. Is this only referred to two days in a row? For example, if I have a meeting in the morning, let's say from 8:00 to 12:00, and then I get back home and take the shoes off, should I wear the same pair for an evening meeting the same day, or should I wear another pair? Thank you!
Hi Dan . Great tutorial. One thing I do with my shoes and boots is put some air pillow insoles in them to keep the insoles looking new. When the insoles get trashed I just put in new ones. Also any thoughts on the DIY plastic heel protectors you put on your heels to keep them from wearing down ? Nice boots BTW. What brand ? Cheers. : )
thank you.. for sharing the knowledge of your profession. im new to your channel.. keepsafe everyone and to the creator🔥❤️ in addition, how about canvass sneakers on your next video upload .. im into those shoes .. just an ample request sir.
Hi Dan, I just got a pair of ferragamo tramezzas they are brand new and unworn yet. Chanced upon your video. Would like to know is it a good idea to apply stick on soles to protect them? And if so, which brand would you recommend - a vibram or topy? - Jeremy, Singapore
I thought 7 sounded like one too many serious tips! I fully expected a Halloween special about how to resurrect the shoes as zombies so they would never die, and tips on how to legally obtain brains to feed them to keep them undead. "This tip not for everyone but my gothic viewers may find it compatible with their lifestyle." Great content nonetheless, and happy Halloween, thanks for awakening my imagination.
Oh bummer, I better get another pair so I can rotate them, bought Rangers, maybe some Nick’s but Thursday’s have some nice stuff for a really fair price
Hi mate any tips on trainers as I've got Nike Air Jordan and Adidas trainers or is it the same principle as shoes also my daughters football boots please if you can help please.
in 10000 years some archeologists from an alien race will come across those boots and be surprised on how well preserved they are then make guesses as to who owned them
I polish my shoes and boots regularly using Saphir polish and I get a decent shine . Should I be thinking of using conditioner as well on a monthly basis, won’t the polish act as a barrier against the conditioner?
Hello Dan. My Great grandfather was a Cobbler. How did you you get into the trade? I'm wanting to re- train here in Northern Ireland. Jason in Belfast.
Those Dasco shoe trees are beech wood aren't they ? Regardless, I don't think cedar offers any advantages and was only used in the USA because it was relatively cheap and plentiful. Beech tends to be used more in Europe. Finally, the plastic shoe trees are very useful for travelling because they are much lighter.
Tip 8 - don't wear white shoes when digging holes? Great video, thanks for the tips, get your online store up & running so I can buy some Cedar shoe trees off you.

I laughed so hard at burying the shoes!! Love it when you do silly stuff, just brightens my day! Thanks for the video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have some Timberland Earthkeepers that I keep in the Earth. Buried them a few years ago and they're good as new, so I guess it works.
4:31 he’s so adorable 🥺😍
Your upload schedule always coincides with my coffee in the morning and it rocks. Thanks for the tips sir.
Happy to be of service
I’ve always rotated shoes to keep them
wearable and it really works, along with cream- but we all need a great cobbler like yourself as time goes by for restoration ❣️thanks Dan, very funny ending❗️
True sometime I wear my asics to many days in a row not only the wear the extra build of moisture up start deteriatiing
Very quickly
Yeah, having many shoes and rotating them makes them last longer vs having one or two pairs you wear all the time.
Hahahaha I laughed so loud with the last tip! Thanks for the information, greetings from Peru!
Hi there Peru!
I just got a pair of boots as a gift and thought I should learn how to take care of them. Came across your page and this is by far the best shoe care content!

You have a great sense of humor. Thanks for the tips.
In case of smelly shoes and feet, (i heard, have not tested) that staying hydrated yourself can mitigate odors

There he is! My favorite man on earth! LOL!
Holy smokes, I paused to grab the mail when you were beginning to dig your hole and in the interim I made up dialogue and rationale, and I ended up getting it close. Lol
Sometimes it's kind of hard to focus on what he's saying because... You know, him. But he does make lots of great points.
Thats just gross.
It’s English , Juan.
Very informative thanks 👍👍
Awesome dan🙋🏻
Dan Man, good vid and and excellent advice
This video is my reminder to go buy a shoe shine kit to care for my leather combat boots. Great video as always Dan & thanks for the reminder!👍

Damn, I tried the last method. I buried a Timberland in back of my yard and now I have a tree that grows boots. Thank you so much.
great vid , great guy . just one question , how do you manage to keep a white shirt so clean at work . looks so good on you .
Great tips Dan!
I think it's possible to use cedar shoe tree for overnight for the pair of shoes You used.
And next day replace with plastic shoe tree.
And put cedar shoe tree in the newly used shoes.
No?

This is the cleanest shoe cobbling workshop i have ever seen. The cobbler in my neigbour always look like a coal miner

Worth the wait for reason seven.
U are something else. Thank u for the tips. I might try the waterproofing one I need it for work
So if you apply the leather conditioner, does it seep through the gloss surface?
Someone stepping in the boots burying hole will cause someone to fall into that hole and crush the box.
Bold choice to wear the white canvas hightops to go work in the dirt
One of my favourite tips is to put a thin leather insole onto the leather footed .That prevents cracking
Great advice !!
This is a great channel - thank you 👍
Love the pro tips , what’s more impressive is your body . You are ripped. Keep up the great work !
Great video thank you
Hi dude, I just come here because you are so chilled and then chill me out, bonus, I know stuff about shoes. x Lets get sticky :-)
Love yr videos. Where is yr shop that you get such upmarket shoes. I have a shoe fetish so love to see the expensive shoes. Maybe you could tell us why they are so expensive. Thanks so much

What brand are your high tops Dan 👌
Vans
@@Dan_the_cobbler Cheers mate 👍
You should do a video on patent leather shoes 💡
I honestly thought tip #7 was going to be a joke about planting your shoes to grow your own shoe trees 😂
Hi Dan . Great tutorial. One thing I do with my shoes and boots is put some air pillow insoles in them to keep the insoles looking new. Do some of these tips (minus shoe moisturiser) work for trainers as well?
thank you.. for sharing the knowledge of your profession. im new to your channel.. keepsafe everyone and to the creator🔥❤️ in addition, how about canvass sneakers on your next video upload .. im into those shoes .. just an ample request sir.
For a second I couldn’t decide if that hole digging trick was going to be real or not 😆

Would love to know what cobblers usually charge for these options

Have you encountered any good easy on/easy off ice spike/chain systems ?
Oh bummer, I better get another pair so I can rotate them, bought Rangers, maybe some Nick’s but Thursday’s have some nice stuff for a really fair price
I missed you!
When doing #7, Would it be a good Idea to rotate them periodically too? Asking for a friend.. 😎👍
If you have enough energy!
@@Dan_the_cobbler Now that my friend is a commodity that is becoming scarce. 😎
Yeah, you have to dig them up and apply brain conditioner annually on halloween at midnight.
Top tip, Fill ladies tights with cat litter and insert into shoes + add an essential oil = absorbs moisture & bad odeoers
Love watching u sir! How’s the UK? Hope all is well. Thank you 🙏🏻 for the videos! Stay well and healthy!
Don't forget to dig those boots up every month to condition them. Lol
Hi mate any tips on trainers as I've got Nike Air Jordan and Adidas trainers or is it the same principle as shoes also my daughters football boots please if you can help please.
That ending 😆
I found that typo of wooden shoe tree you are demonstrating will damage the heel of the shoe.
Were you wearing Tricker's Stow boots?
in 10000 years some archeologists from an alien race will come across those boots and be surprised on how well preserved they are then make guesses as to who owned them
Bury the boots....😂😂😂😂 Keep cracking on....😁👍👍👍👍👍
any tips to stop the interior of my walking boots wearing out quicker than the outside?
What brand and model are those wingtip brogue boots at 4:35 ? They’re gorgeous.
Some extensive googling later, seems to be a pair of Barker Calders. If someone else also were admiring them and wondering.
What kind of boots did Dan hold up? I have been looking for those in Dallas,Tx
“…your horrible, sweaty feet.”
Felt such a pang of guilt at that. Geez!
Your brogue style boots are beautiful! What's the brand?
Thanks Dan. You are looking well. Is that a fresh haircut? I think it is. It's going to start getting cold here soon.
Nice job Dan. ! Make sure you take your boots OFF…..before you plant them. ! 😁. !
I polish my shoes and boots regularly using Saphir polish and I get a decent shine . Should I be thinking of using conditioner as well on a monthly basis, won’t the polish act as a barrier against the conditioner?
did you slip off your boot? or retied it after taking it off?
I love shoes, I'm also a handmade shoemaker
Is there much difference between the different types of wooden shoe trees?
Hey Dan, I've had a flat tire on one of my roller skates. Do I need to see a cobbler, or maybe a shrink?
Hello Dan. My Great grandfather was a Cobbler. How did you you get into the trade? I'm wanting to re- train here in Northern Ireland. Jason in Belfast.
please a video on leather shoes for the smelly insides

Tip 8 - don't wear white shoes when digging holes? Great video, thanks for the tips, get your online store up & running so I can buy some Cedar shoe trees off you.
I use hair conditioner on shoes and I’m not kidding!
You must do a video of the Blue Stripper Boots! Even better, if you know how she rubbed off the tips! ;-)
