That hull must be made of 4" iron. I Imagine Endeavor has been hauled out a few times to repair dents and holes. Never in a million years would I attempt to navigate the Depoe Bay entrance. That's gotta be one of the most -- if not THE most -- dangerous harbor entrances anywhere. A 50' wide channel isn't even as wide as this boat is long! I don't care if it's calm water; the surge is enough to throw off your course enough to run aground. No way, folks -- no freakin' way. Why the hell don't they lay a breakwater a few hundred yards outside the entrance? You can't tell me it's too deep. And there's obviously no shortage of rocks with which to build a solid dip-winged breakwater to quiet the waves and current running in and out of that narrow channel.
I've been here many times just to check out Boats going in and out ... There's not to many Boats at this Harbor.....The Building Straight ahead is the Coast Guard Boat house.....
There is no bar...That's a turbocharged boat...it's as fast and powerful as any boat it's size...most are non turbocharged and wouldn't have faired as well...he was running hard and still couldn't stay on the backside of the wave..I've had a small boat pass me right under the bridge there...
Not every day TH-cam has vids of the same approach from two completedly different angles. I imagine Endeavor has crunched a few times getting into the harbor. I can't believe people even try it; 50' channel!? There is like NO margin for error, especially in rough surf. It's amazing they don't have more accidents/sinkings entering Depoe Bay.
Wow. Whoops. Crunch. Hmmm. If this was New Zealand the skipper would be prosecuted for not following basic bar crossing rules. Lifejackets for all for a start. The seamanship here is very poor and perhaps some further training is required.
There isn't a bar...it's just ocean, a hole in the wall and then a harbor the size of a football field...I suspect a boat started out and that's why he slowed...
Nice! I just subscribed! I watched a video that someone on land had shot of that crossing.
OMG REALLY?? 🤯
@@mwb6188 yup. Did he hit the rocks?
Same here, ooops..... guess he did hit the rocks🤣
Super video did you actually hit the shore
Where are your lifejackets??

They should blow up the rocks n make the inlet wider.... be well.
Thanks for posting.
Interested to see view from the rocks? ...watch?v=oUwXuHPktc4
or search 'Depot Bay OR, Endeavor crossing the bar'
Did the boat sink shortly after this video?
Yes
No it’s still fishing out of depoe bay
THAT's gonna leave a mark. Hull got crunched.
Capt let the wave catch & move him. Broke the first rule of Bar Crossing.

I think I just watch this same crossing from the view point from the port side cliff top. I looks a lots worse in the other video!

Sloppy out there. And I'm not talking about the water.
holy fuck...i would not be sitting in the cabin....fuckkk thattttt
Pityful. Crossing the bar requires to go faster than the waves. The boat seems to have enough power to to so... So who holds the helm?
Your mom.
@@falcoperegrinus82 nope, this day, she was explaining YOUR mon how to change your diapers...
@@falcoperegrinus82 I second this
