    When a guy can take a little piece of nothing and put on the lathe and turn into exactly what he needs, man, that’s not boring at all. It’s actually entertaining to most of us. Looking forward to the next installment on this ol’ car. Thank you so much and God bless!

    You're never boring. It's always fascinating how you just make do with what you got on hand before you run to the store. It's the skill behind the tool that does the job no matter what.

    Drill bits are notorious for going oversized so to get exactly on measurement to be hitting your numbers reamers are a good option.

      @ThisNThatGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I can only remember one time where I actually needed a reamer. Most of my work is backyard butchery. 🤣 Not to mention go price a 1.187 reamer. I'm not paying that for one job when a boring bar and sandpaper works just fine.

    I think '54 Chevrolet passenger hubs will fit that application. Five lug. I'd have to check the parts catalog for 39 to 54 to be sure. But I think there's some interchangeability there. So you could use the '54 brakes. '52 Chevrolet half-ton hubs and brakes might work too.

    Halloooo! my best friend. @ 31:00 slow the spindle speed down some, and a lot of overhang on the cutoff. Actually rigidity. Make a .5 or .625 bar split longwise on the end to hold some emery cloth. Use like a boring bar to polish the ID. Sticking your finger in the hole with emery is very dangerous as the paper can catch and twist your finger and skin off. You can't shut the machine off fast enough! Super content my friend, keep on keepin' on! Dedicated viewer-

    • @ThisNThatGarage
      @ThisNThatGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Spindle can't go any slower unless I put it in the back gear and we've tried that too, it breaks stuff in the back gear! Trust me we've tried everything with the parting tool and overhang makes no difference so I just throw it up there and let it chatter. The lathe is just wore out.
